Oh boy, here I was under the assumption that it talked about a murder!
I pictured a blue-eyed girl laying on the ground with her eyes wide open, rain falling in them, looking up at a high window. The last thing her eyes see before quickly dying, after she had hit the ground. Not remembering much, but feeling as if she died very slowly and quietly.
      “Eyes blue and hollow
As it rains against their will
Feathers falling out of the pillow
As if time is standing still.”
      “I can't remember much more
But I know it happened quiet
      So quiet.”
      “Is the earth coloured red?
As I land like a flower on the meadow.”
“I will return from the shadows
And I'll bleed in your bed
Turn it red, like the ground outside your window.”
      😦

I agree. Not in my top five, either. BUT, this song shows absolutely top rate vocal control and total attention to the unique delivery of every single word. When you listen to it on the technical level of how she annunciates and delivers, it's kind of unbelievable and unique. I don't know anybody who is delivering any song this precise way (let me emphasize the word PRECISE). My top 5 Aurora songs, however, are: 1) Through the Eyes of a Child (stripped version), 2) Lucky (cathedral version), 3) The Seed (VEVO version), 4) Murder Song (Peace Prize version), 5) Churchyard (KEXP version.

Thanks again folks. This song is actually part of a trilogy, "Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1" being the first, where the murder actually takes place. Already in that song we hear the story from the victim's perspective. In relation to that song, this song is even a bit MORE sinister and dark in a way, talking about coming back as a ghost, bleeding in the murderer's bed and colouring it red. Unfortunately, I can't for the bare life of me remember what the last song in this trilogy is called, but I'm pretty sure some of her followers in here will be able to fill me in. Anywho, when listening to those three songs in sequence, the message comes across so beautifully clear, and you uncover yet another layer of Aurora's abilities as an artist.
Take care my friends. Kramar från Norge. :-)

I was disappointed to note that she does not have the pointed ears of an elf or a fairy but just normal, human ears. I might be alone in that though.
This song and this performance of it was my introduction to Aurora. The Live at KEXP gig came next. I’ve been hooked ever since. Booted Leprous off my playlist. They were my last obsession. (You should check them out).
Is it a Swedish trait to be so cool? The Norwegian, despite the marauding, Viking background, seem warmer. I mean, I don’t know any Swedish or Norwegian people personally. My daughter went out with a guy who was half Finnish. That’s as close as I get to knowing anyone from that area. He was very serious. Just curious. Loving your work. Keep it up. 👍🏻

I mean," Thrue the eyes of a child", "Murder song" and "It happened quiet" are songs do not have this special moments in belting voices or high power music. To see the complete package is in my mind to react and that includes the composition, the presentation performence and also story telling aspect. This 3 Songs has a main point on the lyrics and leave everybody, if accepted with an own perspective on the meaning. That is rare in the music industry and far from Cover songs with incrediable voices. To cover songs what was running already on big numbers is half the work and is not fair to compare with artist who does the whole package by themselfes.

Funny how the song itself speaks to something quite devastating. She has a seamless ability to do that.
I agree with Sandy that she is like an elf! I had in my mind that she seems like a fairy! 🎶🧚🎶 I see her innocence as empowered by her fearless self expression. I think she has a beautiful voice that seems drawn to the mystic seam where atmosphere at its highest point lays belly to belly.with the silence of space.
Her movements are always enchanting and playful. sometimes assertive, and I love how she infuses emotion into her performances. When one is in the mood for her enigmatic style. one is never disappointed!
