Making my Own Bale Spears

- I looked online to buy a three point bale spear and for how much they wanted for one I figured I could make a better one myself and for cheaper. Well it started out cheaper until I messed up and welded the hitch on backwards. So I fixed that and then built a spear for the front of the International 674.
Well dag-gum, tough start but good finish
A few years ago we built a loader dual hay spear 5” lower tubing with 3” upper 1/4” wall
It works very well with two single 3500lb spears
Also we found a 5” JD rear tool bar and installed two spears in it
Now we’re able to transport 4 bales at a time on the JD5115M
Just bought more metal to make another front dual bale spear, the price over doubled

Ya I tried out these new spears and it's very easy to carry 4 bales with this tractor now, for my close by fields it should make picking up the bales much faster
Hello looks good. How much your bales weigh? Should be able to see how well works on a good day. Yep I laughed but I've done things like that,welded then realized that's f in backwards... may have been hoist brackets I'll try remember. I used to be very good with a torch I could blow a weld out very simple. Great video have a good day.
The bales generally weigh about 600 for straw and 800-850 for hay
You did an awesome job on the bale spears. I hate to see you have to cut out those point rings back out. I know what your talking about with the correct direction, could have happened to anybody. I have done that type of thing before, not on building a spear, but on other projects. I'm very happy you posted this one, I have a three point spear that I broke last year that I need to repair. I was trying to figure out the best way to repair it and with your model I'm going to modify this one and make it with two points instead of one long point. I just haul a few to the cows, from time to time. Loved this one a lot, thanks for sharing, take care and have a great day!
