You can see Folsom Lake and both the North Fork and the South Fork of the American River from Auburn, especially in the Canyon Rim and Shirland tract or even Granite Bay Vista and Vintage Oaks areas. I agree the views are way better than in El Dorado Hills because - fun fact you can see El Dorado Hills and the Sacramento Valley from Outlook Estates and the Ridgeline area near China Bar and Skyridge or from Indian Hill and Auburn-Folsom Road.

Check the local crime pages and inquire about homeless shelters.

Oh, the charm of Auburn's safety statistics - a real confidence booster! I recently stumbled upon NeighborhoodScout, and it turns out Auburn is safer than 21% of U.S. neighborhoods. Not too shabby, right? And if you peek at the crime map, you might notice a slight concentration in the downtown area, conveniently close to all the lively pubs. It's just some spirited revelry - harmless, really.
Now, once you venture beyond the downtown hubbub, the crime rate takes a delightful nosedive, making Auburn a true sanctuary. As for the homeless population, well, they're not exclusive to Auburn and if your comparing it to other city's then give Auburn a gold medal. My family and I are in Auburn all the time and i hardly every see any homeless.
