Some books just don't let you be sedentary in the reading, do they? I love how she both evokes and provokes my emotions and thoughts and life every time I spend time with her on page.

Those picture books are so lovely! I am currently reading Louisa 's Life, Letters, and Journals and am enjoying it. It's very interesting and very readable. Love her sense of humor!
I got quite a bit of the letters and journals in excerpts in Marmee and Louisa. I do love her sense of humor- especially in the face of all she was going through.

A Tree Grows is a hard one (did I already tell you this?) but beautiful in so many ways. It's autobiographical. It always makes me so thankful for life and family. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.❤ I just picked up another book by Betty Smith.

Deea, I like how many of the picture books you showed have themes of home and belonging. I picked up You Belong Here and Farmhouse on your recommendation (live chat) and they are both beautiful. You mentioned that You Belong Here is too long for young children, but I think it would work for them as a bedtime story, skipping some of the text in the middle if necessary.
I think my love of family and creating place that nurtures and supports belonging spills over into all my other loves- reading, artwork, gardening, cooking, etc
I went through “You Belong Here” with my 4 yr old grandson just talking through the pictures and the concepts and he got it! He even asked to do it again 💕
@@novelideea I can envision your cozy session with your grandson. 💕 Publishers Weekly suggests age 4 and up, while Kirkus suggests 2-6. It’s a book that makes clear the assumption that an adult will be reading it to a child, since the refrain is in script. Of course kids who aren’t yet readers can also enjoy a book like this on their own, following the images. The unfortunate aspect of the paper-on-board binding is that it hasn’t stood up well to library use.

I am reading Walden with Kelli, so I am participating in Alcott April! I did pick up The Inheritance, but my reading plans have not been going to plan so I don't know that I will pick it up. War and Peace is the only book I've been able to keep consistent with and I have a couple of others on the go that I really need to finish. And I really want to pick up The Blue Castle, but I don't even know if that is going to happen.
I’ve been busy with family stuff this month + trying to be ready for vacation next week so my reading has slowed down a lot, too. We just do what we can and the main thing is to enjoy it, right? 🥰🤗 I think you will enjoy Inheritance if you get to read it!
