- Azur Lane Chapayev is one of two new ships with the Wave 4 AL collaboration. She is a spitting image of the tier 7 tech tree Soviet Chapayev, but with a few stat changes that make her very powerful. Her HE shells have 1/4 pen like German cruisers and her HE alpha is more than most heavy cruisers, giving her a deadly high explosive broadside. She does however have a much-reduced fire chance, of 5% stock and her AP shells deal less damage. Like her free to play counterpart, she has squishy armor, sonar, and a long radar that does make her a versatile cruiser., albeit one that can be sunk easily. I use the chapayve capt on mine but again it's more personal choice, but my 1st game I got nearly 210k dmg and agreed this ship shouldn't b underestimated, gr8 video btw

I was lucky enough to win both ship and commander from crates. And it looks very nice and fun ship. After I finished Riga I stopped at Schors for the other TT Russian line. Now I want to finish it too cause of the Chapayev

It was this collab that got me into WoWS Legends to begin with! Had played the mobile game but not a fan of the chibi artstyle...so im pretty green at everything. have gotten myself addicted now :P
i have both ships from the collab but had no idea how to properly use AL Chapayev, thanks for making this video! Because I'm new... got a habit of sailing straight first into combat... now i know better. the most damage i had gotten with R7 Commander was 16K, seeing this damage output is insane! You got killer aim too, was impressed!
Chapayev can be a higher skill floor ship, since she's so squishy. But yeah, once you learn to use her she's a menace! Best of luck in your gameplay, check out my begginers guides if you're still learning the ropes. Or stop by for a stream to see what NOT to do 😄

My success has been a lot higher with Kuznetsov, I was setting like 2 fires per 100 shells with AL Chapy commander. Cuts a lot of damage potential

@@DerkaGames Well I easily completed the Epic Mod Gun Fire Control with it by getting 10 destroyed ships. So it is awesome - for now 🙂 FYI: I was using Ivan BD Lightful as commander though.

Haha, sour grapes much? Most who get it will get it from a crate. And it may even be a free crate. And the skill floor for playing Chappy effectively is way higher then what most of the player base is even near. So no. Definitely not pay to win.😃
I know im late for this, but for the commander base trait it can work with other damage not just from shells. Like trops from planes, destroyers and some HE bombers

Ugh. I should have shown whole match lol. I sailed into the last circle when they had like 999 points, so I stopped the loss. I was under the impression I needed to remain in center cap to keep them from winning on points, so i tried to reverse dodge that Kansas salvo. RIP. But after I killed Vlad I could have sailed out of center cap. Oh well. Live and learn

It's worth trying, I think this becomes less beneficial at longer ranges where more shells miss their mark and shatter on the belt and other parts of the ships, without setting fires. But I bet it's pretty potent with the extra pen!
This is the perfect way to play this ship, perfect commander set up (not many make the good choice to spec a little speed) and perfect evaluation although this is a 5/5 star ship without a doubt
I thought hard about the 5/5 boats and I think I'm going to save that for ships like Tier 6 Weimar, Mainz CE, Sommers CE, Wichita CE, and Ochakov esque ships. Like ships that are so good wargaming literally needs to do something about them. Or never sell them again

@@DerkaGames I think AL Chappy offers more to the team than Mainz CE. That radar adds versatility but yes Mainz is a better killer true

I agree about Chapayev, the commander. Doesn’t seem worth the resources to level up.
But I am starting to eye old AL Avrora, who I haven’t really cared about since I got her. That third row perk upping HE and AP damage by 10% may be worth it for AL Chapayev (the ship)…

Have you tried running EoP with chap commander? I know you'd basically lose fire chance, but it'd have to make the HE damage pretty crazy

I’m running the AL chapayev commander on it as well with her special trait and eop so max pen and max HE damage you could possibly get. It’s does so much lmao but no fires so keep that in mind

@@DerkaGames Well the problem arises when you are shooting at long range where your shells aren’t always going to hit superstructure. You’re hitting stern so you’re just shattering with no fires. It’s very situational imo but at 10km and shorter it chunks ppl

Have you tried this with the AL Aurora commander? You can add another 10% of HE damage if it wasnt enough, lol.
ive been playing this ship with AL Avrora from wave 3 she gives you an extra 10% HE damage without cutting your fire chance also Chapayev can easily get a stealth radar if you build for it

So I have a question unrelated to video you seem to be a numbers guy and perhaps you can answer. Dispersion is total spread? And grouping is the distance between your two farthest shells. So what is the difference? To me they seem to be the same just wondering if my anti dispersion Montpelier builds are worth it +22 when Americans BB is -18 and in general what is better and why thanks for anyone who can have a answer that makes sense it feels to me that we have two stats for the same thing

It’s ridiculous that they still put commanders in this game that get worse when fully maxed. 14/2 AL Chapayev is better than a 16/4. There are a bunch of examples of this with the original commanders. How does something like that ever make it into the game in the first place? Then, they never bother to fix it and even do it again! What goes on those balance meetings? Did someone hire their special nephew and nobody can fire them?

@@DerkaGames true, being a percentage it doesn’t make it much worse than it is already but it’s the principle. They really need to do a common sense rework of commander skills in this game.
I’ve never gone above legendary 2 on my commanders because the value just isn’t there. Skill to Rebuild is the only legendary skill that gets noticeably better and they’ve been talking about reworking that for months. You only gain one basic level for your base trait so that’s terrible value for what you put into it. I could go on but…yeah

Some, Chappy can get smacked for sure. But if you play at range like I do (most of the time) it's surprisingly resilient

@@baofc2609 Massachusetts is an amazing T7 BB. Good brawler! I still love Prinz but largely think Hipper is better. And Suzyua is still one of the scariest cruisers to meet in the game. Crazy damage output. Best of luck!

As for AL Chapy the commander i like her perks, they are cool and her 4th slot is nice and different, her design though 🤔 is it really necessary for her boobies to burst out like that 😂
Overhaul this wave of AL is pretty nice imo, perks are different enough, (⚠️ little rant incoming) but i'd prefer the commanders to be less sexualized its a freaking battle boat game, even as a weeb some of 'em are too much for me, i almost had a heart attack seeing Neptune, though i'll add i do kinda simp on St Louis, I wich most of the AL colab commanders were like her, more serious in tone and not half naked
