Probably John Stewart because of the animated series! His pairing with Hawkgirl in this is a reference to it!

But for better context on Adam, strange probably look at that video death in the family where you get to make the choices on where the story would go. On there they have a bunch of cool little shorts . One of them is an Adam strange video that explains where he came from. Also, I think they have a video on there with the monster squad and I believe captain atom with all the charlton comics characters on there with blue beetle and the question. Those are actually better than the death in the family video.

I knew Hal was sus the immediate minute he started killing, but I loved that Parallax Hal had all of the GL rings like in the comics
I have _no_ idea why, but, The Lantern oath always gets me teared up.
It speaks to our inner 10-year-old, very very plainly. In the pattern of a nursery rhyme, come to think of it! "I can stand alone against The Bad Guys(tm) and win, for I am mighty" sort of thing.
I'm not ashamed to say I'm the same way... not every instance but when they do the epic, "meaning-of-the-Oath" double-down, all-or-nothing, this-is-who-I-am, we-are-the-Corps, [insert-hyphenated-trope], etc... it gets me like it knew my mama!
I'm a sucker for that though, but I'm one of the ones that paid his dues, when Nerding was one the outskirts of society, hidden from the light, pre-innundated, less over-saturation (by both fans in the fandom AND media, should say actually GOOD media...1990's JLA TV-Movie anyone?) so these moments hit hard for us! I do have to say that the saturation levels are reaching the point where I've gone from "Ooooo! My childhood niche-love is finally getting it's time!" To "eh, I'll watch it if one day it randomly runs in front of me & stops..."
Nice thing was even though we KNEW it was coming... telegraphed A MILE away... but cuz they did it right it hit the sweet spot! Goes to show that if the production team shows the reverence for the content we LOVE and treats it with respect and passion, not just throwing fan service for fan service's sake, amazing things can result!

The Parallax reveal blew my mind, I liked seeing the Raan-Thanagar war with Adam Strange. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it's no _First Flight._

Honestly if you've seen Green Lantern First Flight (2009) that felt a lot more like Training Day but in space, especially how in that film Sinestro acts as Denzel Washington's character from Training Day

Hawkgirl being paired up with John Stewart is a refference to their amazing relationship from the DCAU (DC Animated Universe) during Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and I really loved that they did that. Always preferred Shayera over Kendra Saunders by a mile.

Guys don't forget about Batman: Year One after you're done with the Tomorrowverse! I know Coy's said he's seen Mask of the Phantasm but I don't know about Return of the Joker! If not, watch that one too - it's great!

There's only like 3 Green Lantern movies, but Beware My Power is one of my favorites. Was surprised how dark it was and the twist shocked me.

The reveal of Hal Jordan as classic-comics Parallax absolutely blew my mind and made me love this movie. I've always felt that DC has attempted to erase the Hal Jordan/Parallax past since Geoff Johns turned it into the entity of fear, so I was thrilled to see Jordan as the villain. I'd love to see the DCU do this.
Really? That’s what made you love this movie? Hal Jordan wasn’t used well and the Parallax look is awful for the movie. You want Hal to be introduced and killed in the same movie too? Just awful decisions all around.

@@cjmk5923 If you’re going to do it, yes. However, it shouldn’t be done period since it stinks and there’s no way John Stewart or a single Green Lantern should beat him in that state. They didn’t even use his iconic Parallax design with the coat where it was a terrible decision for this movie.

Can’t wait for you guys to watch the next 2 movies in this universe, however there is also a collection of 4 shorts on Max called Constantine The House of Mystery that connects to this universe. One of the shorts connects the Tomorrowverse to the DCAMU, and 2 of the shorts serve as prequels to this movie and JS:WWII and the last short is about Blue Beetle (Ted Kord). These shorts are fun but the only really important one is the Constantine short

John Semper Jr., highlighting John Stewart as the titular character in this story was great and Aldis Hodge voicing him made the story even better.
THANKS for this!!!! I guess it's good that the worst of the Green Lantern animated films are first, so you can get it out of the way. (Not a Tomorrowverse fan, but I'm a great John Stewart fan, which makes this even sadder to me :( .) When you leave the Tomorrowverse, please consider the two much better Hal Jordan GL films, "All-Star Superman" and the two animated Superman/Batman team-ups!

This green lantern be where my power movie was so disappointing mostly because it had so much potential but they dropped the ball hard with making Hal Jordan a villain at least in my opinion.
Hal Jordan has become evil several times in the comics. This is lifted from the pages and animated beautifully.
@@josearroyo8008 that's true and you're right about that, however in this case I feel like they rushed the whole parallax transformation for Hal Jordan way to early given the fact that this is kind of the first time we seen a evil Hal jordan outside of the comics in anything for a very long time at least in my opinion.
It’s not tomorrowverse but you should definitely watch first flight and emerald knight. One is much better than the other but it’s been a while so I can’t remember but I’m sure you’d like them both as I did. TAS is also a good watch

This film got a lot of flack because of the treatment of Hal Jordan and the whole Parallax storyline. I thought when watching this film it looked great and taking creative liberties to changing the story helps. I don't know but in the comics it's supposed to be Kyle Rayner instead of John Stewart. They did certain changes with character interactions, mentorships etc.,
Taking creative liberties at the expense of Hal Jordan and Sinestro is bad. If they lived, it’s not as bad, but it’s just a waste of potential.

John Stewart is my favourite green lantern in the comics he isnt only a war hero but an engineer making his green lantern constructs the strongest since he thinks of every nut bolt and screw he uses in them.
I love your Reactions to the differents DC universes takes. But for me the coolest is the Young Justice universe, the character development, the storyline, the plot around the different seasons. I hope you could react to the Young justice series in a future.
I agree, Young Justice is also my favorite but so far the Tommorverse isn't bad either, unfortunately it gets criticized too much by comic book obsessed fans for how it adapts things

I loved that they did parallax but to be honest, I’m upset that sinestro and Hal died. Sinestro is such a complex villain that I would’ve love to see them get into. And I would’ve loved to see Hal go on a redemption arc if they had exorcised parallax from him. Maybe he goes the spectre route. That’d be crazy

The plot and John’s voice acting was not the best, but I still love this animation. Especially during action scenes, where every little move is enhanced tremendously in weight and power, including the simplest action of activating Lantern Constructs

Really sucks that the Tomorrowverse completely skipped over the formation of the Justice League, and starting off with Hal as a villain before we even get him as a hero is very underwhelming and takes away the impact such a heel turn would normally make. I don’t get why but it seems the Tomorrowverse is in a rush to get these movies out without even thinking about the overall storyline of their universe.
With Crisis on Infinite Earths being announced for next year which was planned before James Gunn took over, it’s like there was a mandate to just speed through a ton of stuff.

Is the bumb John Stewart saves in the beginning Adam Strange? I mean in the comics he becomes an alcoholic bumb everyone thinks is crazy and begins believing himself that he’s crazy after being displaced by the Zeta Beam and losing his wife and people for decades as the zeta beam follows him around transporting him all over the universe. He then is the crazy drunk homeless guy who tries to defend a family being antagonised by some bad people and builds a laser gun and jet pack to defend them, begins to remember who he is and then a zeta beam takes him to earth or home or something, I can’t remember exactly the details but most of that is right, and I’m pretty certain that’s supposed to be Adam Strange John Stewart saves in the beginning, or at least it’s meant to remind you of his story…

Green Lantern is one of my Fav in DC comins so to see this new take on Johns origins was fun and I cant wait to seen the new live action take. Some other good older Green Lanter animated movies are First Flight and Emerald Knights. "Mogo doesn't socialize" lol
My only problem with the Tomorrowverse is they go to the well of "this character who is normally heroic is actually a villain". Like so many films.
Green Lantern has always been my favourite superhero. The mix between creativity and bravery.

I'm sorry I really don't want to be negative but, even though John is my favourite Green Lantern, I just do not think this movie is a good Green Lantern movie and honestly was very disappointing to me as a Green Lantern fan and John Stewart fan as he really feels like a soulless, hollow character with no real personality in a very poorly written movie with very poor and lazy depictions of amazing GL characters. Johns origin in this movie is literally a carbon copy of Kyle Rayners origin.
Aside from some shots of good animation I just can't for the life of me enjoy this movie and I was really hoping this movie would be good, as Im always supportive of new GL content, and try to be positive when it comes to new releases, but this was just not it for me.
If you guys want to watch so actual good Green Lantern animated movies I'd highly recommend *Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011)*

@@rogerpaulson9908 Yeah the animation of the Tomorrowverse has always been cool to me and I've really liked the bold outline style they've gone for, but other than movies like Man of Tomorrow or the Long Halloween, I just haven't been invested enough into the Tomorrowverse and the potential of the universe was kinda wasted given their assumingly going to end it with Crisis on Infinite Earths movie

John Stewart is the main lantern in the DCAU.
John Stewart was my introduction to the Green Lanterns, so he's my favourite GL.

The emotional spectrum from the Green Lantern Comics (and the animated series) is:
Red - Rage. Red lanterns are typically berserk killers, but this is mainly because of their founder, Atrocitus, who is a brutal tyrant.
Orange - Greed. There is only one Orange Lantern, the alien being known as Larfleeze, because he refuses to share power.
Yellow - Fear. The Sinestro Corps wields the yellow light to inspire fear in others.
Green - Willpower, Courage. Green Lanterns use their willpower to bring order to the galaxy. Green lanterns are vulnerable to the yellow light because fear undermines willpower, but the best Green Lanterns are not merely fearless, but they are people who learn to overcome their fears.
Blue - Hope. Founded by a rogue Guardian of Oa, Blue lanterns have little power on their own, but can massively augment the powers of a green lantern nearby, because hope empowers will.
Indigo - Compassion. Able to mimic the powers of other lanterns, the Indigo Tribe is made up of reformed criminals: those who have harmed others, but gained compassion later and understand the pain they've caused. This may not be entirely voluntary.
Violet - Love. The Star Sapphires embody love, but are often overwhelmed by the jealous, obsessive aspects of the emotion. The best-known Star Sapphire is Carol Ferris, Hal Jordans on-again-off-again girlfriend, and has been a villain for most of the history of the character.
Green lanterns have the greatest control over their power and sits in the middle, but the further you go to the ends of the spectrum, the more you're likely to be overwhelmed by that emotion: Red Lanterns and Star Sapphires are often at the mercy of the power they wield.

This movie has its issues but I love John Stewart and we got some good shine on Adam Strange. I hope it gets a sequel, I'd actually appreciate something that's somewhat more sedate.
Normally I'm not in love with adopting other characters origins for another one but if you're not going to use Kyle Rayner it's a quick effective way to set up a Green lantern.

The only thing I'd say I didn't ike about this was just how they did Hal Jordan as parallax instead of having both John and Hal both as Green Lanterns. And Senestro wasn't as treating but overall I liked it 8 out of 10.
This film is honestly not great and is probably the weakest animated Green Lantern film. I believe John Semper Jr. who was involved with the movie said that it was semi inspired by Hard-Traveling Heroes but it isn't well portrayed if that was the case. The Emerald Twilight twist I don't think worked that well in the context of the film. I had a problem with the fact that while John he as a character doesn't get to have any big heroic moments or to be the one to make any of the sacrifices. He's not really confronted with anything except for his own issues but all of the core plot elemnts are resolved by other people or the things that he does have a habd in he does it in kind of ancillarytertiary less direct kind of way. He kills Sinestro by accident when the ring flies through him when he summoned it and says he had no choice but we earlier saw him summon the ring and a dodged past people at points so is that the case? The ring before this had always prevented John from using lethal force so why would it do it itself to get him? It could have been a really intriguing contrast of Hal's coldblooded shoot me in the back killing versus John killing because he had to and it would have worked nicely with him reconciling his past but instead it's treated very much like it was an accident so it's fine.
Was it an accident? It didn’t look that way. The difference between those 2 instances is that Sinestro was right in front of him about to kill him where the other group of people weren’t a danger to him at that time, so the actions would be different. Also, is the ring actually prevented him using lethal force or is it John stopping himself? He was crushing Hawkgirl while the ring was saying “lethal force is not authorized”, but Oliver said himself, “You’re killing her.” Not having authorization doesn’t mean something is being prevented; it’s just not giving permission.
@@KissablePurpleMonkey In the comics, the rings can’t kill with not being authorized until they’re given authorization during the Sinestro Corps War which was a huge moment. The rings literally won’t let Green Lanterns kill.

if this is your first Green Lantern animated movie if you guys haven't seen it yet. Green Lantern First Flight and Emerald Knights haven't seen the latter but the former was for a long time my favorite animated DC for a while.
I figured they’re like Tomorrowverse because it is more in line with what these know and labor of these interactions of the characters. I still love the more new 52 DCAU part. But It m still digging this.
I love all Lanterns, but we are very long overdue for a Kyle Rayner movie. Hell even Guy Gardner has received even more screen time than him.
You guys need to watch Superman/Batman : Apocalypse and Catwoman : Hunted
I personally don’t really like this movie. It presents itself as a John Stewart film, but gives him Kyles origin, stuffs up the plot with the Rann/Thanagar War and takes away a lot of his presence, treats Sinestro like trash, doesn’t really give John a satisfying arc imo, kills Hal Jordan and a bunch of great GLs before we even get to see them used in this Universe, and just overall feels extremely messy. At this point in the Tomorrowverse, it was by far my least favourite film, but has since been topped by JL: Warworld.
