  • Unfinished games are some of the most fascinating pieces of gaming media to ever exist. It's one thing when a game is only slightly completed, but when it's almost done entirely, that's really sad. What was going to be developed by Namco's Hometek division in the early 2000s, Snake Plissken's First Escape was going to be an action-packed third-person stealth shooter. You would play as Snake Plissken from John Carpenter's "Escape From New York" and "Escape From LA". The game looked very promising but unfortunately was cancelled for seemingly unknown reasons.

I been saying it for years that this movie would be not only a badass movie, but a badass video game.

It would've been one of my favorites on the PS2. I pray they are able to resurrect the idea one day.

    RIP Debra Hill
It's a shame this game never made it through to release - who wouldn't love Kurt Russell in a video game title? I can't imagine Debra's passing was the reason they halted production, if anything they would have given her proper recognition in the credits.
I know the game was under Namco production but the mechanics definitely felt like Rockstar from the footage. The aim target and strafing absolutely looked like CJ's mechanics in San Andreas.
Speaking of what could have beens - If Joel Schumacher was given the green light for a 3rd Batman film, we would have had Coolio playing Scarecrow which would have been an overdose of 90's cinematic entertainment. RIP to both of them as well.
Great video and I'm having a blast binge watching your channel!

I'm not the most familiar with MGS, when I was searching for an image of Solid Snake that happened to come up.

I rather give this would-be game a shot, than to sit through Escape From L.A. again...

Escape From LA has its moments but I know it's more low budget and 90s cheesy nature is not for everyone. As much as I like it, Escape From New York is the better film.
