Bobsledding in Whistler on the World's Fastest Bobsleigh Track!

We're living in Whistler this month, a town built on Olympic dreams - literally. While it took about 50 years for those dreams to become reality, when they did, they built the fastest bobsleigh (aka bobsled) track in the world.
Is it mere chance, a simple coincidence, that we're in a town known for playing an important part in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics while the 2022 Winter Olympics are on? We think not. We didn't plan it, so maybe it means something. Like, maybe we should be thinking about our own Olympic potential. We didn't grow up skiing, ice skating, or playing hockey. What did we do during long Iowa and Minnesota winters? We went sledding! So, we think bobsleigh is the most promising event for the two of us to give a go.

We've made it to the Dubh Linn Gate 2x already. There will be a 3rd and perhaps a 4th. It seems integral to learning the art of bobsledding.
I absolutely love this! Whistler is at the very top of my list of places I need to visit for so many reasons and now there is one more reason to add!
It is a special place for sure! It was scary, yet worth it! (hint... we have 3 more adventures coming soon!)

This is so fun. As a 2002 Olympic Volunteer, I live in an Olympic town also. We just celebrated our 20th anniversary of our games here in Salt Lake. I've been to the sliding center and also the ski jump, but I wasn't brave enough to try it.
Thank you for watching! Were you afraid to try the bobsled? or the ski jump? or both!? :D I'm assuming you're talking about the bobsled as the average citizen probably shouldn't be doing the ski jump! :D
@@chrisplusmelissa Yes, I remember them repeatedly cautioning us not to step on the ice on the bobsled track, because they said it would be easy to slip and end up in a broken heap at the bottom of the track! That made me think twice about doing it. The ski jump is terrifying too. When you stand at the top, because of the curve, you can't even SEE the landing zone. I think those kids are CRAZY to do that one. Surprised they don't have more broken bones!
