6er-Jubiläen: Rettung in der Relegation 1986

- Dramatischer als im Mai 1986 geht es kaum: Im zweiten Spiel der Relegation hat der BVB den Abstieg in letzter Sekunde gerade noch verhindert. Der damalige Spielmacher Marcel Raducanu erinnert sich an das packende Duell gegen Zweitligist Fortuna Köln.

Ich kann mich nicht mehr genau daran erinnern.... Ich war damals mit meiner Freundin im Stadion - verzweifelt und verheult in der Halbzeit - ich wollte nur noch nach Hause. Aber meine Freundin meinte nix da - wir haben das ganze Spiel bezahlt - wir bleiben! Vielleicht irre ich mich - aber der Schrei der durch das Stadion ging beim 3:1 - ich habe sehr viele Spiele erlebt, aber lauter war es nie mehr im Stadion als in dieser Sekunde! Wildfremde Menschen lagen sich in den Armen, es wurde geheult - gejubelt - es war das totale Tollhaus.
Dieser Tag - dieses eine Tor - hat alles, was danach kam, überhaupt erst möglich gemacht. Danke Jürgen Wegmann, dass du diesen Ball versenkt hast!
Tolle Dokumentation war live im Stadion Südtribüne für mich persönlich seit 86 das beste Spiel unsere Mannschaft!!! Hatte tagelang keine Stimme mehr😉🖤💛🖤💛🖤
Man sollte wirklich über englische Untertitel nachdenken. Der BVB hat mittlerweile eine große Fanbase außerhalb Deutschlands. Es Wäre echt verschenkt, wenn man solche großartigen Videos nicht für diese Leute zugänglich macht.
Ich stand im Block 13 und habe das Tor von Wegmann nicht gesehen,weil ich am heulen war.Danke KOBRA!

Marcel Raducanu, der beste Freund meines Onkels. Wir haben damals im Garten ein bisschen gepöhlt.....für mich damals der Fussballgott...was der technisch draufhatte....!!
Boooaaahh!!! War das knapp😧... Wegmann darf den Ball bei den ersten 2 Toren nicht liegen lassen, sonst verliert der BVB Zeit und das 3. Tor fällt nicht mehr😮. Krimi pur!!!

Hätte der Keeper der Kölner bei jedem festgehalten Ball nur ein bisschen mehr auf Zeit gespielt, anstatt ihn immer wieder sofort rauszuschlagen, wäre unsere Borussia mit Sicherheit erneut abgestiegen. Also nicht nur Dank an Wegmann, sondern auch den Kölner Torhüter, der uns immer wieder schnell den Ball zurück gespielt hat.
Ich kann mich noch erinnern, meine 1. bewusste BL Saison!
Als Werder Fan die Meisterschaft gegen die Arroganz aus dem Süden so unglücklich hergegeben!
Aber an das Spiel(e) gegen Fortuna kann ich mich auch erinnern.
Lange hatte ich Unverständnis, drückte dem BVB voll die Daumen. Beide Spiele gesehen am TV, das 8-0 aber nicht.

Nachbarn gesehen habe......der hatte irgendeine TV-Box damals, weil es wurde nicht live im TV übertragen! Weiß evtl. jemand, wie das Spiel damals übertragen wurde ?

Not just any year, not just any game, not just any goal.
*Marcel Raducanu: "It was a great constellation, for playing a relegation game. It was very hard, because it was about decline, about everything.*
Contemporary witness Marcel Raducanu about the relegation game 1986, about an unforgettable race to catch up and about maybe one of the most important goals in the history of BVB. Ten years after entering back the Bundesliga, the mission now was staying in the 1st Bundesliga. The opponent was Fortuna Köln from the 2nd Bundesliga.
*Marcel Raducanu: "In the first game we thought: Yes, they are football player too, they can play football too, but... we come from the 1st Bundesliga."*
Maybe they underestimated their opponent, maybe they had a bad day, or it was a great performance from Fortuna Köln, probably a combination of all aspects. The consequence: The BVB loses the first relegation game 0:2. A bad situation for the second game.
*Marcel Raducanu: "The pressure was big, bigger as in the first game. We had to win!"*
The 19.5.1989 shall be written forever in the history Books of Borussia Dortmund. Part number to in the fight of staying in the 1st Bundesliga. The destiny game in the Westfalenstadion. The BVB had to catch up two goals.
*Marcel Raducanu: "It was a situation we didn't were acquainted with. Playing a relegation game. There were a lot of young people, who couldn't handle the big pressure."*
The horror imagination of every BVB fan: After 15 minutes it became reality. Instead of a catch up, the setback. Fortuna hit the BVB right into the heart.
The first half ended with 0:1. The decline was barly to prevent.
*Marcel Raducanu: "I went in the cabin and everybody looked at the bottom, nobody said something. The coach tried to motivate us, but in a situation like this, you are very sad. It was... yes... death. Because everybody was very sad a long time, we said: Guys, now we go out and try everything!"*
The outwards-goal-rule didn't exist, but instead the BVB needed at least three goals. The turn came with Michael Zorc. The 1:1, shot with penalty, ten minutes after the second half started, gave a little hope to everybody in the stadium. 15 minutes later, this hope became bigger because of Marcel Raducanu.
*Marcel Raducanu: "I was accidentally (laughs) in the penalty area, and there I headed the ball in the far corner.*
Mission-staying-in-the-Bundesliga went to closing phase. Only one goal was missing, if you count both games together.
*Marcel Raducanu: "The opponent hadn't force anymore. They didn't come over the center line, we made pressure... so, it had to happen."*
Only when was the question. The last twenty seconds had begun, Borussia was with one and a half lags in the second league, but then... then came Jürgen Wegmann! Together with Wegmann the dream got reallity. You could here the cheer of the 54.000 people in the hole town.
*Marcel Raducanu: "And there, i will never forget... you aren't able to forget this, because this was singular for me in my career."*
Now it went to the playoff. Fortuna Köln was weakened, not only morally.
*Marcel Raducanu: "They said: We can't play, eight player are ill, or something like this. Obviously they were afraid, but at the end you have to play the playoff, then it happend. And we won clearly. Yes, we were motivated great."*
At the third match it hailed goals, eight, if you're precise. (8:0)
*Marcel Raducanu: Yes, then you ask yourself why you didn't play such as well in the pervious matches, but as I said: The pressure was to big for us. I'm glad, we got it, because, when we did not, I don't know, when we would have been back. Then, in the 90s, when Hitzfeld became coach, the glory came.*
5 times winner of the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League: All of this would not have happened. In May 1986 the BVB saved himself of decline in the really last second.
