To be fair the recent example of ish tear was a very skill based and flashy format with a lot of interplay, especially in the mirror, but I do see your point an interesting mirror and/or interplay on both sides can and probably should be replaced in a more diverse format

The Ishizu cards are strong don’t get me wrong, but the Tears are the payoff, they are the thing that abuses the Ishizu cards and makes them even more busted. Without the Tears the Ishizu cards just make sacky inconsistent pile decks not tier 0 juggernauts with infinite disruption and recursion.

You know, I think it's extremely short-sighted from the competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! players to not want to side Extra Deck cards. You can very much do this if you sleeve your extra deck the same as your main deck, which is certainly uncommon but definitely allowed. I see no reason why people shouldn't do it.
That comes down to TCG players thinking in the exact same way: A 40-60 card solitaire for desired endboard as the main deck, 15 card extra deck toolbox as generic+archetype balanced as they can afford, and 15 removal options all clogging the side deck for games 2 and 3 for the cards that don't work for that exact matchup. Every. Single. Time.
i side 3 extra deck monsters in my TCG D/D/D list because i don't need the rank 6 or a second level 6 to make it if i'm going second. so i side them out for Linguriboh and Dharc in case I get hit with Iblee or Contact C
@@fortidogi8620 no all side deck sleeves must match the main deck sleeves. So you have to swap the sleeves between the ed monster being sided in and the one being sided out, if they are in different sleeves

Not quite. The spright runick are still the most represented deck in Swiss rounds. Its just that the best players made to the top cut and the top cut is best of 3 with side deck so players have access to very targeted hate towards those decks making them more manageable to counter
As most popular deck in the tournament, they usually "kill" each other and other decks can prepare something to beat them specifically, while Runick-Spright don't have any good preparation or the players just don't know how to beat multiple different decks.

Pretty much any link decks outside of Sky Striker that doesn't play Underworld Goddess are crazy. The deck builds of Spright not playing her are absolutely insane.
I'm really new, only started playing MD like a few months ago, went to locals and love it. Tear has been kind of awful so far for me, I know I'm not good, Tear punishes meh-bad players and the learning gap is so large it feels insurmountable. Felt like I finally got up to scratch when I hit plat 2 but damn, I am not having fun 😭 Might just not play MD until the next banlist.
Anything can happen honestly. Verte has only been banned in both for almost a year now. Meanwhile, Halq got banned in MD before it was banned in the TCG. Honestly the only thing that is stopping Verte from getting hit right now is likely his low usage. I genuinely have not seen much of Verte the last few months, between games, checking decks post match, and watching people play MD. Elf is currently common to see, and is only going to get more common with Tear coming up. Verte might also see a rise in usage with Tear. Verte has seriously died down in usage since they hit the DPE package, and he has not been widely played outside of it. All in all Verte is still broken, and it likely is a matter of time until they decide they want to ban him, but outside of DPE, there has not really been a large, winning usage of Verte to clearly show that it is problematic for the game.
People hated tear ishisu because of its ability to interact too much and now that they got dragon rulered everyone's mad that the game has more than 2 viable decks.
why the actual fuck did they have to put floo field spell to one like even with statue and shifter at 3 and the fieldspell at 3 that deck could not compete vs ishizu tear at all. Would have been the one deck I would not have minded playing so much all the cool shit I have looses hard to gy hate

Agreed. I know people have grown to hate spright and runick but I actually really enjoyed this format. Oh well time for tear ishizu

In paper, are you allowed to change the sleeves on a side deck card? Like, have the extra cards in the side sleeved like our regular extra?

Spright elf won't get banned in MD; MD still has verte an equally egregious card banned in every other format.

Hot take: Ishizu makes the game better by buffing several interesting archetypes and making them better.
The shufflers are the worst, though, and not all decks can use them well.
It also creates a tier 0 tearlaments meta
