  • The video is based on the Economics of Land Degradation Initiative showcasing the economic gains from bush thinning in Namibia at both national and regional levels, using a case study of Otjozondjupa region.
The results strongly suggest that national bush control in conjunction with biomass utilisation has the potential to generate net benefits of USD 385 million over 25 years if 60 per cent of bush encroached areas are thinned resulting in a reduction of bush density by 90 per cent in Otjozondjupa region.
The film is produced by the Economics of Land Degradation Initiative in cooperation with the Support to De-bushing Project both implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
