- Windmills of Your mind
Round, like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel.
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnaval balloon
Like a carousell that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it's face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it's own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it's face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle your head
Why did summer go so quickly
Was it something that I said
Lovers walking allong the shore,
Leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And a fragment of this song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
As the images unwind
Like the circle that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of this song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Its a crime for this not to be on spotify
This song was played at the end of the movie called the Thomas Crown Affair. I had to find it; I looked all over and finally here it is. I love this song. - September, 2020
But the best ever version is the original 1960’s version by Noel Harrison (Rex Harrison’s (my fair lady, dr Doolittle), son).
@@louisewalker9074 The original version is french from the composer Michel Legrand.
That's where i fell in love with it too. I had heard it earlier, but it didn't capture my imagination at first. Funny how our perception changes.

I never fail to be impressed by Sting's understanding of syncopation and asymmetrical stress within a phrase. NO one else's cover of this song nails it like he did. Absolutely perfect.
Seems these days people don't understand you can't merelynuse the same phrasing on every. Single. Verse. Ugh!!
George Michael had that ability as well.
It can be done better. "Like a clock..." should be done without a pause. It's good though. He's decently talented.
After them many more musicians play this tune and many more singers
Agreed, his rendition has what you could call soul
I have never tired of this version. His voice is like "Butter", Smooth and Rich.
Stings voice leaves me feeling like I just had a great massage.
Nicely said come back and listen
I can listen to all day. Sting's voice is so soothing...

The lyrics are so intellectual and romantic. Sting's interpretation is hauntingly smooth and magical. When I hear this song, it transports me to the cosmos with a martini in hand. I love this song and Sting. ❤❤❤
Who'd ever have imagined Sting's whisper injecting such sensuous tones to this old favourite.
Thanks Sting 👍and 👏👏👏 to the fabulous musicians.
one of my favorite songs by sting, his voice brought such an edge to this song
Very much so!!
James Lovelace except this isnt by Sting. It’s a cover sang by Sting.

Michel Legrand died today (26 January 2018) at the age of 86. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those that love music.

Exterminate the warm...I cannot trust he/she evolves to a bookwarm !!
Sting can sing anything and I’ll love it!
I prefer the Muppet Show version.
Lovely....mellow.....Sting's voice is perfect for this. Beautifully arranged
I love Sting's singing...ALWAYS!!!

The Music, Lyrics off 60/70/ 80; incredible, in both Rythm & Blues, Rock, and Bossa Nova; today unmached. With all our challenges, Music lifted us up. Not do idi g us till Now.😍😎🎶🎵🙏🇩🇰🇺🇸
One of my favorite songs....timeless
An incredibly difficult song to sing, let alone beautifully and interpretively. The intervals are amazingly close, and then next very distant. It took musical genius to write it, and it takes the same to perform it! beautiful!
Необыкновенно прекрасная восхительная чувственная музыкальная композиция
Это Мишель Легран
the french version is called "Les moulins de Mon coeur" for who's interested
I'm about to record this. :)
Amine Bkl thanks💕
Thanks! “The windmills of my heart”, if you don’t know French. 😉
Nope - not interested 😜
Composed and performed by the great Michel Legrand
Thomas Crown Affair made me fall in love in with this song! Sting at his best!
Noelle Harrison is Better Than Sting

I Love This Smooth Jazz Version By Sting!!
Sting's voice backed by the smooth Fender Rhodes, bellissimo!
Anthony Montero Agree 100%. In fact, upon hearing this version, it's hard to imagine this without the Rhodes.
One of my favorite songs ever!
mind-blowing Sting performance…. who ever is playing that Rhodes is amazing
yes, the keyboards are fabulous. goes a long way to making the Sting version great.
So true. So... precise, yet cool. Does someone know who's playing ? I don't see him being credited anywhere :(

This is a masterpiece
i've listened to , i think, every other version by other artists that can be found on youtube and i must say, this is by far the only one that is needed. its not just his voice and which words he emphasizes, but the music if the most fitting as well. in my opinion, its the end-all, be-all, of this song… kudos Sting
I agree, sting is master and feells the accents of music
agreed
11 years later, you still are correct!
He mangled the song
Every other song is dogshit this dude reminds me of Bobby Caldwell
Stings version is my FAVE; ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I love russo's character, brosnan's sexiness, faye dunaway's cameos and the soundtrack. So glad the ending is different from the original. GREAT MOVIE!
I love the original movie. Faye Dunaway; Steve Mc Queen. Unforgetable
Pierce hit it out of the park with his production of this movie!
This remake by Sting is just fine. He has a great voice. The one way to destroy the song is if someone tried to sing it and couldn't carry a tune. Someone who didn't have the ear for music. Love this.
My beloved departed Mom turned me on to easy listening and it helped expand my taste and culture of different genres of music. Miss you Mommy and you've been gone thirty- eight years now. As long as your second born grandson has been born. Words can never express the gift of loving life you've given to me; through loving you.
The windmills of Your Mind. Nice
great performance...everything,vocal,hamond sound line,rhythm..real smooth jazz..just Sting can do like that..great musician with great musician, make a masterpiece.......
Great song, great performance by Sting. He stretches the vowels in a Sinatra-like way. Strange that Frank never recorded this song. He should have. One of the great ones by the Bergmans and Legrand.
i love how it goes in circles like the windmills it talks about.
This song is awesome!!! Sting rulezzz
Sting's genius is his impeccable phrasing....BRAVO! Fresh take on this jazzy classic. This evokes images of well dressed gentlemen and polished ladies sitting in a Jazz club enjoying cocktails and good company.
Credits on the movie The Thomas Crowne Affair.
Nice
Great song from a great film.
Sting has a great voice! Period!
This is my favorite! I followed Mr. Sting's music since his days with The Police. A consummate artist.🌷🌷
Really a lovely version.
OMG.....I love him doing this song especially because of his voice. No one could do this as well as he.♥️♥️
best version, those sensible chords and fine voicings are delicate and add depth to these old words...
Perhaps the best version of this timeless and amazing song + poetry! Sting's voice strikes a chord deep within...
exquisite
One of my favorite songs and movies..sting nails it..thank you.
Включил радио и заснул после наступления 2022, и проснулся рано утром под это. Боже, как красиво сделано!
Lucky you Rip!
MIchel Legrand and Sting are both treasures. It's just beautiful. They offer some real hope that the human condition is still capable of greatness. On the other hand, the internet shouldn't be used by people who dole out opinions they wouldn't dare say a public forum.
Haven't heard this in years...still sounds good🎶🎶🎶
Hello guys, 30.07.2021 i really loved this song, it's amazing
God bless you Sting... You are a Prophet and I joined your religion long time ago...

I had the exact same problem!, it took me forever to find & here it is! Not even in Amazon Music when I search it being performed by Sting & no dice. I love the song ONLY performed by STING!.❤
Great music. Perfect for the movie. Made the movie more enjoyable. Sting is so soulful.
This song is a spiral itself. I get addicted to it, periodically, every year. Now I'm in it.
Como siempre Sting. EXCELENTE!!!
The Bergmans and Michel Legrand created this beautiful song! This time the wonderful version of ..STING!

Какой у него замечательный, мягкий тембр... ну и музыка - восторг!
Awesome version of this classic tune. Bravo Sting! :)
One of Sting's best ever. A good song made great...
this song was composed for the movie " Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve Mc Queen. Oscar of the best movie song in 1969
Wrong version. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo 1999

This is brilliant! I've been listening to Sting for quite a long time and I didn't know he'd covered Windmills of your Mind... For all those who like 'music', TAKE 6 has just released a new album and included this song!
Extraordinary!
A song to listen with the moonlight above you.
Nice Jazz take on the old tune
Say it again Scinders. There are type of music in the world. Some we love. Some we like and some we don't care for. So change the station.
I personally LOVE Sting. I've listed to him since the mid 80's. He has grown and matured like fine wine.
I've listen to many different Versions of this song thru-out the years but this has captured the essences of what this song portrays.
La meilleure version de ce chef-d'œuvre, et de loin.
Sting is GREAT...that's all what I can say.
beautiful!! love this !!
Me alegran tus canciones, hermosa interpretación 😊
So sophisticated and cool... Like Steve McQueen was the touchstone Sting reached for... and proof this genuine.
Gotta love it!
Beautifull!!! i love this song,, I love Sting!!!!
