- "The Windmills of Your Mind" is a song with music by French composer Michel Legrand and English lyrics written by Americans and . The French lyrics, under the title "Les moulins de mon cœur", were written by Eddy Marnay. The song (with the English lyrics) was used as the theme for the 1968 film, The Thomas Crown Affair.
In the original 1968 film, the song was performed by Noel Harrison who took the song to #8 in the UK Singles Chart. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968. A version by Sting was used in the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.
"The Windmills of Your Mind" has also been recorded by All Angels, Tina Arena, Lill-Babs (as "Vinden I Min Själ" Swedish), Pedro Biker (da), John Davidson, Val Doonican, Esthero, Connie Evingson, Jose Feliciano, Earl Grant, Terry Hall, Kiri Te Kanawa, Michel Legrand, Barbara Lewis, Arthur Lyman, Sally Ann Marsh, Maureen McGovern, Meck, Farhad Mehrad, Eva Mendes, Alison Moyet, Elaine Paige, Parenthetical Girls, Dianne Reeves, Rita Reys, Jimmie Rodgers, the Sandpipers, Sharleen Spiteri, Barbra Streisand, Swing Out Sister, Take 6, Grady Tate, Vanilla Fudge, Vassilikos, Helena Vondráčková, and Edward Woodward. Helena Vondráčková has also recorded a Czech language rendering of the song entitled "Můžeš Zůstat, Můžeš Jít".

One of my favorite movies with undeniable magnetic chemistry for Brosnan and Russo. They reignited my belief in love as a hopeful romantic. Sting did his thing on this rendition. Makes me want to be a cultured reverse Robin Hood because I adore Brits. Rene's character was an absolute beauty although insecure about her growing old gracefully. Peirce holds my attention in whatever he plays in; although Connery is my favorite Bond. The love scenes were 🔥🔥🔥and a failing libido was never their problem. The cinematography was spot on.

So that aside, here's a salute to all the music gifted to mankind by Michel Legrand, r.i.p. - we lost him recently, but the Oscar® for this song (and many, many awards for all his compositions) proves the priceless talent that he was.

Sting's British accent fits here perfectly. The song is so soothing. It is... Haunting. I didn't watch the movie. But it seems like one of these I just have to watch one day.
And the piano here is magical.
And I had only heard this song on the small speaker of my phone. I guess I would just float away if I heard it on headphones...
