curious fact: when these albums were released we had some theories that the Step I's cover is her inhaling and the Step II's is her exhaling, which makes sense because in IOADK she talks a lot about internal things like relationships and reflecting about herself throughout the album.
Then you see in ADKOH she talks more about our impact in the environment and in other human beings around us.

You talked about her producer, and yeah she has A LOT of influence in every detail.
there's a documentary where her team says she always changes some things and it ends up getting better than what they thought.
    SHE'S A GENIUS

Ok, it is time for the obligatory Aurora airport quote 🙂
Which is a beautiful story, and it is back here that she came up with the concept of "The Gods We Can Touch", which is now an amazing album:
"On track eight you say ‘Be god in the shape of a girl’ - what does that line mean to you?"
"I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. So yeah, at the airport… I was on my way home again, I felt a bit out of place, out of my own body, and then I looked at this family. I saw two very tired parents, and then this little girl - she was maybe 3 years old - and she seemed to give them so much joy, even though they were very tired. And she gave me a lot of joy. And then I saw an old couple, leaning over to look at the little girl who was smiling back at them. She seemed to interact with almost everyone at the gate, and make everyone happy. Without even knowing it. And I loved the way happiness and love can be so… simple? Don’t underestimate the power of a child. It was just very magical to see how much it affected everyone and everything. If I was to choose a religion, I would love it if god would be something that you can touch. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?"

I didn't see what Aurora talked about the songs, but I'll leave here my interpretation about each one of them.
    --
Queendom: she makes it clear that she is a person that embraces the people who are seen as weak, weird and all of that. She supports the communities in society that are oppressed since always.
With that, she welcomes us to her queendom, a place without oppression where you can be whatever you want.
    --
Forgotten Love: she talks about the beauty in moving on from a relationship and recognizing the growth that it brings when you just let it go.
    --
Gentle Earthquakes: I think this song is about sex, there's a lot of metaphors that reminds me a lot of it, like:
"twisted body parts moving synchronized"; "the combination of purple and pink"; "like a gentle earthquake it intensifies, it's like my lungs are breathing fire".
    --
All is soft inside: It's about how somethings or someone may seem harsh on the outside but everything is soft inside, everyone has something that makes them vulnerable and that's okay.
    --
It Happened Quiet: Personally I think it's about sexual abuse, but some people interpreted as a environmental issue song and Aurora once said it can be both.
    --
Churchyard: not a lot to talk about this one, it's about a relationship where one person think they own their partner.
    --
Soft Universe: Looking for someone to help you handle all the hard things in life that puts you down every day.
    --
Infections of a Different Kind: This song is too complex to me, but I think she's saying that we have to be our own God, we harm each other in the name of a divine being which we don't even know if exists.
The morality of a lot of people is based on the perception of a god, but if you don't do bad things because you fear the condemnation in the future, that makes you a bad person.
So she's stating that if there is a God, they would be disappointed in us because if they are perfect and all good, they would see what we are doing on earth and just shake their head.

I think this ep and the next is the most "aurora" sounding album. I actuallyy prefer this one than ADKOH but the title track of that album is one of my all time favorite aurora song, it almost made me cry 😭 but I'm not sure if you'd love it tho... The next album is definitely more pop-y, what I mean is that some song are quiet repetitive but it's still really great! I think it's a good contrast to this ep, which is more experimental and have intricate production BUT the next one's closing track is an absolute bliss! I suggest that before you isten to it, listen to AMDGMAF and IOADK again with great headphones before going to ADKOH and you would appreciate more how she beautifully crafted and weaved these three projects together, and that way, the ending of the saga would be more impactful and emotional.
Her latest album, 'the gods we can touch' is really different from her past three projects. It's a mish mash of different sounds from different influences from tango to eastern folk music to a more dance-y, synthy punchy music to a more medieval-like, greek, french vocal deliveries. Aurora wanted to try something new with this album. She said that she can easily make another typical aurora album, a primal, tribal, animalistic art pop album so she wanted to challenge herself and try something different.

    • @Einyen
      @Einyen Před 2 lety +2

@@meyechelangelo Yeah it is very different from Step 1 and Step 2 and very experimental, so many different music styles in 1 album and different instruments.
Here is a teaser from an Aurora interview:
      youtu . be / YytOgPVXqK0&t=3m24s
"Sonically what can you tell us about kind of ehh, is this (Cure For Me) kind of representative of what you're exploring on the next record. Is it a sign of what's to come?"
"Ehh No! It's very NOT how the album sounds, which is very exciting. But it has something in common with the album, that I am experimenting with new things and new sides, which I am enjoying.
Because it is easy for me to make a really "Aurora" album you know, like that feels like nature and Mother Earth. It is very easy for me to do that because it comes so naturally for me, so I have been *really* enjoying just doing something new this time, doing something different.
Because this is my third...and a half....album, and it's about time, you know, in my mind I needed to just play around and do something different, and for me music has always been extremely serious and no fun. It's been very like very serious, and I always write very serious things, and I can see myself like standing on stage every night for an hour and being like really sad all the time, because all my songs are so filled with so much sadness, you know. I just wanted to make an album for myself that had a bit more playfulness and cheekiness and wildness. It's very exciting, I'm very excited to share the album with you."

The Aurora HAIK concert is set in a forest near her childhood home. It's so beautiful and she is most in her element here. You wanted a forest.
