WOW ANOTHER TUTORIAL it's about time - This is my new series of Civ 6 in 6 Minutes, where I try to explain the basics of a victory condition in 6 minutes or less. Obviously this one is less than 6 minutes, so I've already failed there but oh well. I hope you enjoy~!

A bunch of my friends got Civ 6 in the summer sale, so this is a great time for a how-to series, and I appreciate that you keep it brief and breezy! More content like this would be *chefs kiss*
Great content! One thought, especially for the full tutorial, is to use a civ with no or only moderate dom bonuses and no modes. That way people can learn the "basic" domination strat and then adapt to Simon's crazy movement speed, for example. Otherwise they might get used to "easy mode".
yeah that is the plan i think! because in this game, even just watching it in the background you can see how crazy my movement is with the bonus + the generals haha

Keeping your army alive and getting all those promotions is often overlooked and great advice. My promotion tree knowledge is pretty poor and it's been fun exploring that lately. Awesome to see you doing tutorials I was waiting for the Moksha mention but 6:58 saw you got it. Learnt that from your streams
Yeah ever since making king my default difficulty I've realized nothing is more important than protecting your initial investment in creating that unit.

Crazy how Hammurabi took the least turns for a domination victory that Boesthius played. Shows you just how broken the eureka abilities with Babylon are.
With Simon Bolivar you can usually skip the Encampments / Great Generals since you get a free Commendante every era. For government plaza, build the Warlord's Throne and Grand Master Chapel if going for a domination win. I like to settle a total of 3 cities before starting the war, but depends how far my target is, who it is and what resources I have (iron, horses etc.).
Yeah Simon is a bit of an exception, and in my full domination tutorial i'll do it with someone who doesn't get any extra benefits~

I recently played a game with my partner (vanilla civ, no expansions). He went for religious victory while I went for domination. I took all opposing capitals then he and I allied thinking that would end the game. 3 turns passed and nothing happened. Then he won by religious victory. The only way I can think of him having won is that we must have accidentally turned off team victory. Is there any other possible explanation? Please help because he is gloating so much and it's really annoying. Thanks!

I think one thing that should be emphasized more is that the most important yields for Domination is Science and Gold. Lots of beginners fall behind in tech spamming units and encampments. I know you briefly mentioned this, but it's a point that I feel is both important and non-obvious.

I often ran into cities behind chokepoints like mountain ranges that kept throwing my push timing off and forced me to advance my science game to brute force them with better units. Domination is my least favorite win condition because this keeps happening. :/
Nice video. One question. A problem I faced on my last domination victory attempt was having a hard time stabilizing loyalty in the cities I took over. I even tried to move the governor there but it wasn't enough. There were huge amounts of loyalty pressure being generated from AI's other cities around and I couldn't keep up. Any tips on this?
Try setting your policy cards to improve loyalty. There’s a military card that increases loyalty by 2 for a garrisoned unit and a diplomatic card that gives loyalty boosts for established governors (I think it’s +2 as well). Other things that I’ve found to help include building or buying a monument and maxing out food production in the city if they’re starving. And if all else is failing, you can strategically raze cities that aren’t necessary. That will reduce pressure on the cities that you do need to keep.
I’m trying to work my way up to deity but I’m already have trouble on emperor (and there’s still two higher levels to handle) I get harassed by barbarians and eventually when I get to taking cities the loyalty pressure just turns them into free states and I get pincered

One big thing is play on standard not online. I usually play on online speed and every time I try early war I just get destroyed when they hit their next tech

The best advice is: units are not disposible keep them alive at all costs.
I love going top tree I found bombers are just to good They can Attack up to ten tiles away but The problem for me is even if you go top or bottom and you get all the research but find out shit I have no aluminum or shit I Went bottom tree and no oil
I've had like 3K hours in this game and have yet to win domination (Ik once it just bugged out and give me the victory but not on deity yet) and I just stick to culture turtling
Seems simple, except that 90% of the time you'll have no iron, no horses, no niter, no oil. You can only get it my stomping all the civs. I suspect when it comes time to discover oil, the game "randomly" decides where to place it then, and not at start, and "randomly " decides you won't have any.
So all resources, including strategic, luxury, bonus, etc are created and places on the map in the beginning of the game as the map is being generated and are only revealed when you have the sufficient technology i.e. Bronze Working for Iron. you can test this with Firetuner if you'd like. But, if you're playing on PC I'd highly recommend playing with the mod called Better Balanced Starts as it tries to make all starts equal for each player

95% of the time when I play this game I'm going for world domination. Instead of co-exicting with other civs, I found somehow distruction and genocide more satifying, am I the only one? this game gives me doubts about myself...
Yeah I generally go domination haha. It'd my bread and butter tbh.
What should I do when there is no iron around and I cant build swordsman?
This is actually a great question, and is pretty difficult for a classical era war. It'll be covered in an actual full domination tutorial - but your best bet is to sim a little bit until you get to the niter phase when you can get musketman with some bombards.
@boesthius Great vid, thank you! Was thinking the same about iron, because if I don't have any near I tend to go light cavalry for the movement, is that not wise? Is that because helicopter upgrades aren't as strong as tanks, or because swordsmen are just better than horsemen, or both? I find if I go light cav it tends to force my hand into bombers with the choppers mopping up, but always struggle with how to effectively use choppers against cities.
If there is no iron around the fastest is to restart. Yeah it sucks. The only other thing I can think of is if it won't set you behind too badly, you go for archers and horsemen

Build Less Cities and Focus on getting Great Generals and Building MILIATRY.
You should have no problems on KING.
You are probably hard building too much infrastructure.
Learn how to use Magnus, Chopping and Overflow.

I’ve recently been running into an issue where the AI has out of control defensive capabilities on deity difficulty. I was playing as Alexander and Nubia went from ancient walls to renaissance walls in just a couple turns and it was only turn 130/500 (standard speed). Is this normal for deity or am I experiencing a bug/glitch?
I don't like playing Domination simply because it's probably the most basic and easiest victory to get. I like to have fun building up my civ and building wonders as a Culture type personally.

That’s easy at best... geezus id never see that... everyone rushes walls first thing unless I’m playing non competition lobbies
To avoid this "here's the recipe for winning domination" type of thinking, I always play on shuffle mode. I agree you don't need a big army to win, but it is difficult to win domination on large maps with 12 civs, which is how I play. When I do decide to dominate these maps, I usually end up with two armies and run two campaigns simultaneously. I also end up getting light and heavy cavalry, and then aircraft although typically I don't start my push with them, so my army is growing as the game progresses, but not by much.

I watch videos to find new tech, but the AI is so shit it dont matter to be honest. I See why the game designers wanna hide that from modders. It is quite embarrassing for a 6th iteration of a game.
Boes i used to love watching you but your uploads are so sporadic now & it's just not enjoyable. I understand that you're dedicated to twitch but your CZcams audience is being hit hard
Sorry you feel that way, but I've mentioned it a few times now that I had to delay some uploads this last week. Additionally editing the way that I do means that there's only going to be 2-3 videos a week - each video takes 8 hours minimum to edit on top of streaming and everything else that I do.
