- Inside the Prepper Movement: Preparing for Disaster and Ensuring Survival
Preppers, or survivalists, are individuals who actively prepare for emergencies, including possible disruptions in social or political order, on scales ranging from local to international. Their preparations can include establishing self-sufficient food and water supplies, learning survival skills, and arranging for self-defense. The motives behind such activities often stem from fears of natural disasters, economic collapse, pandemics, or other catastrophic events. Prepping involves not just stockpiling resources but also planning for sustainability and independence, with a strong emphasis on adaptability and resilience. The movement has grown more visible and gained broader acceptance over recent years, particularly in light of real-world crises that underscore the fragility of modern infrastructures.

If people weren’t preppers before Covid, I’m sure they are now. I’ve been prepping since 2013. I’m glad I do because now I have peace of mind!
Why would people become “preppers” because of Covid?
Amen!
Same here,started in 2012
Ha! You haven't met my family. None of them think about 'tomorrow' or 'what if'. Of course, they're all fully-boosted, so whatcanIsay...
You would think but sadly, I still know people who think they don't need anything because the govt will save them. I now just tell them to keep lots of steak sauce on hand for the people who will eat him when food runs out
I prep as much as my low income will let me. Yes more people are starting to prep now. And encourage people to do so.
🍇🫐🍒🍓Add growing your own vegetables and fruits, as much as possible. Even kitchen herbs on a sunny window. Add foraging, learn one edible and useful plant at a time, and be sure to know any potentially harmful look alikes.
Good to see this subject was dealt with seriously. Being ex forces I guess you could say I've always prepped. Skills will be as important as your choice of equipment.
More important are skills. Equipment can always be scrounged, and by itself will let you down. That said, I’m equipped to the nines.
@@josephtobin3347 Me too. I remember our instructor saying, "knowledge is the lightest kit you carry, but it can weigh heavy on your mind". We also had to learn a poem for mental health, it was also used for when you knock your head. If you can't remember it, you probably have concussion.
@@josephtobin3347 Agreed! People need to definitely up their skill-set game!
Anyone watching this from the UK... don't bug-out to the woods... Our island isn't big enough for everyone to be running around outside. Bug-in for as long as possible, barricade your home. In the meantime, grow your own veg, hone your skills, you could also get some chickens (no rooster tho, not encouraged in domestic areas lol) Map your surroundings, find an alternate water source, get fit, improve your health where possible. The people in this video just walking out to their bug-out location looks easy, imagine if all around you was chaos! If you see something coming, by all means bug-out early before the panic starts, make sure you have a radio and one last things... *Don't talk about prep club* 😉
Read somewhere years ago about this chick that invented a cheap plastic ring thing that you put around a roosters neck to stop them from crowing. It don't hurt the bird at all. Might be wise for all rooster owners to have some on hand for SHTF.🤔
@@jimketchum3169 Just looked it up and it's called a collar. Also changing the roosters life style like using blackout cloths etc... who knew! lol
@@ASMR.by.HIPPYCHICKI don't even have birds but might buy a few anyway. Might be valuable barter?🤔 Where did you find them?
@@ASMR.by.HIPPYCHICKWanna real kick? Have you seen the 'how to hypnotize a chicken' videos?😳
@@jimketchum3169 No idea! Im in a preppers group on fb and a few members raise chickens so Ive been thinking about it. One family didn't have much luck with them but a few others are loving having chickens.
The biggest issue is that the government won't tell you when everything has fallen apart. You will need to guess and act without knowing the full extent of the problems.
That’s why you prep.
@@mariekatherine5238 definitely
Your point is good and could be expanded. People are better off relying on government for *anything* as minimally as possible. The mindset of turning to government first, when there is a problem, is getting priorities all wrong.
@PeterLawton I agree 100%, but somethings they will know before I can piece it together. Like a nuke is flying to the US, but they might not tell you bc it may panic the population or a virus is really bad, but people start dying around you before you figure it out.
The gov will say nothing to keep the peace.
As someone who teaches this on my channel, and in person, I recommend to try to start SLOW. Focus on storm preparedness. Try to have extra batteries, 2 weeks worth of canned goods.
Keep it achievable, attainable. It’s easy for new preppers to feel overwhelmed or an anxious drive to “catch up.”
Stay with a slow, steady plan, and don’t overspend… that creates a personal crisis that you didn’t need.
Follow me for more sensible everyday prepping tips. 👊🙏🇺🇸
Agreed!
Nice, even here in the Philippines more folks are prepping.
As you should u are you own first responder
Only a fool or the deluded would not be prepping.
They are used to brownouts... rural areas would be best in PH
Solar Chargers can keep some electronic devices going like radio.
I have a couple myself!
9 meals away from anarchy. After 3 days, stores are empty, after 3 days no gasoline left. After 3 days neighbors are looking at each other as enemies.
Not in my street. We bunker down and create our own little compound by Blocking off the street and everybody knows their duty. You can survive on your own but together you're stronger.
We follow the tactical wisdom series written by Joe dolio
You mean chaos, not anarchy - anarchy literally means "without rule/without a ruler" and is the epitome of true freedom!
Great reason to get your neighbors involved in gardening, canning, raising small livestock and other hobbies that would contribute to the village.
I've tilled gardens, given away fruit trees and bushes, taken neighbors to the shooting range, cut and stacked firewood. A village is much safer and easier life than solo.
After the covid shortages, it is easy to get people gardening.
@@phild8095 exactly this. A supportive community that can look out for each other is the key to survival.
Switzerland is the best for bunkers. They are starting to open up the ones that have been closed for years
I recently saw a CZcams video about all of the bunkers in their country. I was fascinated by it.
@ThePrepperAlmanac some have fallen into disrepair (bunkers in Switzerland I also watched a documentary abt it I thought it was great. They didn't show the one for their parliament or the one for their Military for being nurtural they are one of the most Militarized ones in the world. All males have to go into Military service & they kept their guns & ammo at home safe required. Any person who takes their gun/s & starts shooting will be shot. Very really happens. Cheers I don't know whether you knew. I find these things fascinating NZEALAND😊
I wanted to ask I hope you are well. Your Elections are coming up. We have a reporter in states & was interviewing people they seem to be confused this time abt who to vote for. I find that fascinating. Even the people who have always voted for Tramp.??? Jules NZ
@@ThePrepperAlmanac Also just found out Germany, Norway & Finland have built or reopened their bunkers. Finland has bunkers to HOLD ALL their people.!! Amazing 👏
They also just passed a law to not being able to say no to forced vaccination without being punished.
Any quick look at history can show a person a lot.
So true! History does tend to repeat itself and I'm amazed how people don't learn from it.
The 1st guy may want to get a pack cover that doesn't make him so visible up close or from a distance. Neon colors scream, "I'm over here"
My thoughts immediately when I saw it 😂, … never heard about the »grey man » apparently !
yeah but you can look at it from the other side. If I see a guy with a huge backpack with military camo and I got nothing im gonna assume he's prepared and has supplies I could use. Looking tacticool isn't a good idea either. :)
That was a great video Thanks ! Eric .
I like the dog bug out bag. Very clever
When everyone is trying to live off of the same rabbit in the woods, it will be very tough
Im a prepper too i live in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 we have the same problem
Even in an apartment in a large city your better off than being out in the wilderness. You can stock lots of food, and water inside an apartment. In the wilderness your very vulnerable to elements, animals and other people. Rain water can be caught on top of a roof or balcone.
You don't think hungry people will come and try to get into your place via weapons or arson?
@@cho7707 Any thing is possible, but better to be in a shelter instead of out side in the open. How much can you carry with you. How much security, how much ammo, how much food and water. Not much. Being inside a building is more secure, easier to defend. There was a reason the nobal lived in fortified homes during the Middle Ages and not living in the wildernes. Security.
It most definitely is time to get right with God Almighty folks. No other preparation is more important. The time is NOW, because tomorrow is not promised us. God will judge each and everyone. 🙏🙏🙏
Being a prepper is something every American should be.
Why only Americans?
The hole continent? thats hard man.
5 mins after this was released all these people get a knock at their doors
I actually believe that.. loose lips sink ships.. you don't tell anybody anything.. I have noticed that myself with some of these channels ..not only are they showing their face.. they're showing their gear.. they're showing off all of their food.. they just turned themselves into a Target.. I will agree with you.. you don't show your face or your gear or your food or your plans
They better start rethinking the abandonment of the bunkers.
Living that close to the Soviet Union, I'd be prepping too.
So true, a lot of people in America do not realize that you can see Russia from US soil in Alaska ,,,

I was honestly worried this might be a woke propaganda movie depicting preppers as tin foil hat crazies but im pleasantly surprised this actually depicts why people prep and the different types of preppers. We come from all backgrounds and walks of life. Ive been prepping since the covid lockdowns, i think i can speak for many when i say it was an eye opener to how fragile our systems are and how power hungry and devious our goverments can be and are.
Kudos to these people! Funny how in America Preppers for the longest time have been considered looney Tunes with Tin foil Hats ... Vindication I say!
😂I know right? For those of us who want to take care of our family we are looney? Ask yourself why the media spews that?
If your not prepared now, there's a lot to catch up on. No time like the present
American prepper - multiple guns, 10000 rounds of ammunition, underground bunker with air filtration system and a years worth of food.
European prepper - a rucksack a dog and a Swiss army knife.
That's the problem of living in Europe. It's more difficult to get a weapon. But that's not a disadvantages....... That goes for others as well. While you in the US have easy access to guns..... So do others. So the danger level is the same. While we can carry more food..... You carry a heavy gun and ammo. And after 3 days you're out of food. While we can easily carry for at least a week of food.
@@12313846you are overstating your own”advantage “. We have far more open spaces. Far more. We are not near as densely populated. Yes we can own firearms and ammo. My plate carrier has 6 mags for my rifle . That’s 210 rounds on me. Plus a camel back. Plus night vision. I am surrounded by 2.4M acres of woods. Are you? I live off grid. Do you? The 500M firearms in private hands and 12 Trillion rounds of ammo in those same hands will keep the wrong type of people at bay. Why do you think the WEF Is pushing to get us all disarmed? They want us to be as easy to manage as you are….
Don’t you wish you could do what we do as well? Don’t you wish your socialist governments allowed you the freedom to build a bunker or buy a gun and some ammo? Or have a space large enough to grow and store a years supply of food? It’s great for us!
And a garden, small livestock, fruit trees, practice fermenting, canning, cooking, baking, hobby blacksmithing, hobby woodworking, trading for things while others go to the market, home repair of vehicles, tools, home,
Reaching out to neighbors helping them garden, teaching them to shoot, fish, can food. At least that's how the ones I hang out with do it. My wife just came home with 3 gallons of cherries last week. They are all canned already. Just today I repaired the arm on our clothesline We took a neighbor to the range last month to teach her how to use her new gun. Came home with 470 useful empty brass to reload. Last year we got 3 bushels of apples in trade, made canned apples, apple butter, apple jelly, apple cider, hard cider and cider vinegar.
Our hobbies and our pantry save us money.
The huge downside of socialism is an inherent lack of freedoms.
Anyone from European countries elect representatives who will help get your ability to own rifles that will help protect your family and yourself.
Because the government uses them to protect the elected officials. Good enough for them good enough for you.
It’s nice seeing others preparing and not relying on the government.
Thank you!
Three words ,Montreal ice storm. 😮
Out of sight. Few people. Access to what u need
Become the gray man!
I think we are a lot closer to needing to use our prepping supplies and skills than most people realize.
The main thing you need is water and shelter. You can find food around you very easily. I hate to tell you if a nuke hits you need 20 years! And unless you got 3 feet of concrete. There’s no door that can’t be blown open. God sakes don’t use a tampon for a wound!! Invest in a good Ifack !
That was well done.
Bunkers with blast doors are madness. If you need blast doors, you're in a blast zone, which means if you survive it you will be opening the hatch afterwards to devastation, rubble and Mad Max. Move to the countryside, far away from targets and build an underground fallout shelter instead.
Never heard of an INCH bag, now i want mine.
These Sirens have been put up all over UK recently
I am into the preparedness lifestyle, I would not recommend leaving your house unless its absolutely necessary. Load up on canned goods and other things such as rice and beans. Get the stuff to make a water catchment device, you can put that on your balcony or backyard. Being in the open in not good. Remember, in just about every country, the criminals have firearms, they will start to use them after the fall of power and phones to call police.
Training training plus military training in the past
✌️🇸🇪Really good episode
A lot of preppers are not like this. Many of us are not planning on going to the wilderness. We will stay in our small towns, out in the country, maintaining our gardens, our small livestock, our fruit trees. We get exercise. We can, dehydrate, pickle, ferment, dehydrate and cold store our produce and some of our meats. We have made wine, beer and vinegar. We are ready for hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, power outages, economic shortages. We have years ago moved to a smaller town where crime is much less of a lifestyle. We live like our ancestors who either lived through the great depression, WWI and WWII or settled unoccupied land.
On our half acre we have two raised beds, an in ground garden, many small beds and pots. He have 20 vegetables, 25 herbs, 14 fruit trees, a grape vine and 20 berry bushes. Many of these trees and bushes have been purchased in bulk from our state department of natural resources at a very low price. Our garden seeds are purchased in the fall when seeds go on sale. Likewise, our groceries, clothes and other purchases are purchased when they are on sale. Winter clothes are bought in the spring, meat is bought in bulk packages and cut to servings and then frozen, dehydrated or canned.
We have already seen shortages, so our pantry is larger than most. Our pantry contains food from our garden, purchased canned goods, salt, oils, fats, flour, yeast, dried beans and lentils, dog food, condiments, paper goods, detergents, lubricants, nails, screws, hardware, rope, chain, tarps, light bulbs, batteries, fertilizers, fuels, canning supplies, hygeine supplies, medicines and so on. All these that could age out get used oldest first, first in first out.
In the garden we have over a year's worth of vegetables. We compost regularly, grass clippings, vegetable trimmings, shredded and chipped plants. We continue to use power equipment, a tiller, a lawn mower, but when fuel is unavailable we have the tools and practice to use hand tools.
While we don't hunt we practice shooting. We reload brass and shotshell. We also fish and keep a meal or two per month of fish. We do a lot of things that reduce our regular cost of living, we hang our laundry outside, we repair things ourselves, we sharpen our own tools, we cook most of our meals. We had our first pizza for the year last week.
Unless you have the ability to raise your own food and have water and ammo
The rest is just buying time unless you have your own food and water source for the long term.
Prepare and be safe as possible. Wood cooking stove, food, water, medical supplies, hand tools, a shooting stick and ammo, can’t forget pet food !! ( batteries, flashlights, crank radio, gas mask, potassium iodide pills, soaps, etc… )
Hey Ned Irving,
Good narration, but it's still called _self_ confidence and _self_ help, not self _confidence_ or self _help_ .
They are specific kinds of confidence or help!
prepping isnt so bad idea as long as you take in consideration where you live, what the difficulties might be, what you really need to overcome them and where you need to go to be safer than where you are now..
And people think it costs money to prep, but actually, it saves money. We grow much of our food, cook 99% of our food, and only buy in bulk and on sale. Our hobbies are saving us money.
ONLY 2 types of prepper? What a nube! Bug out OR ... OR stay home! What of the stay home that might need to bug out?
Thankfully gone are the days where preppers were seen as the weird conspiracy theorists with gun bunkers.
I personally live in the pacific ring of fire, mountain shattering Earthquakes, storm surges, forest annihilating Typhoons, even floods are a regular occurrence on top of the summer fires in the suburbs. The logistics are a nightmare because most of them rely on ships and the roads wind up in foresty mountains which have historically been riddled with fallen trees after calamities.
I do not think you would have to worry about human threats in 3 to 5 days, likely in my experience here in the ring of fire the people are more resilient, but there was a time the storm was so bad it suspended all government, utilities, networks and logistical lines for months. That was when it got dangerous and people started looting stores, after the stores they started to target ATM machines. The few remaining police stopped all patrols to focus on maintaining peace to the last remaining fuel reserves on the island so everywhere was chaos that all commercial establishments basically shut down and boarded up.
There was nowhere to bug out and the best people could do was establish nightwatch rotations since thieves would increase in activity and walk around roofs stalking empty broken houses at night.
Prepping is smart. This guy looks so silly, his dog is ashamed. As long as he doesn't hurt anyone, i support him. Be wel
Can we do this every new month
when shtf, you can't stay in any building, or above ground camp. You can't hunt or fish without getting shot. YOu have to dig a tunnel and stay in it for a year, while the 99% die-off. Come out only at night,, to access a food bucket and cook a meal. You need a year's supply of food already scatter- buried at your BOL, which has to be in the woods around your local water source, cause you wont be going any further. You'll get sniped or burned-out (at night) if you try to stay in any building or above ground camp.
24:37 when bombs fall, glass shatters. There are plenty of other things in that bunker to kys with…

Only one problem there are going to be thousands of people that's not going to be able to do any of this..handicapped people anybody with a disability..some elderly people..I see thousands of homeless people dead..you have got to have a plan for family members that have a disability..I'm disabled myself I have no friends or family to be with..I'll be alone when it happens..we all know that it's going to happen we just don't know when..I'll be lucky if I last a few days..hard core truth..
i bet the UK and Europe with so many hilltop villages, towers, bunkers, and especially their old castles would provide excellent protection. granted, it would be for a relatively small number but there's no reason many of these places couldn't still serve.

So from the beginning of America till about the 1960s "prepping" was just called normal living but aparently now if someone decides to be self sufficient and not rely on government or corporations they are some how a "prepper" people pay for insurance and wear seatbelts but that's considered normal but preparing for a disaster is looked down on... last I checked every single NATO country except for America has literally came out the past 3 months telling people to prepare...
Same here in the rural areas of the UK. I'm 73 and learned what is now called prepping from my parents and grandparents. It was normal country living to keep a good pantry and everything you need. Cars were not the norm in rural areas back then so we couldn't just drive to a shop to buy something. My grandparents were virtually self-sustaining and I learned good lessons from them. It all started changing here in the late 1960s
