  • Here's a cheap big brake install for your 64-72 A-Body. I used CPP's C5 big brake kit. It's a great product for the price, and super easy to install.

    Converted using the factory '73-up, BBP brakes & suspension. Used the pin-mount calipers & adapters from a '75 or '76 Charger Daytona, brake hoses for an '80 Aspen and put the 12" rotors from the last of the B & R-bodies on my Valiant. I can only imagine that this brakes even better

    Love your channel. I have a 66 Goat that I want to upgrade to power brake rotors etc. There are several sites on eBay that have complete front and rear conversion. The rear brakes say need " need machined to fit". Which means axles need to come out. Correct? Keep up the good work. Thanks Craig

    so the front kit is from cpp that uses c5 corvette style calipers and the rears a pirate jack kit that uses a 79 el dorado style caliper so when doing a brake change are you asking the auto parts store guys for a pair of c5 brake pads and a pair of 79 el dorado pads to do a complete change or are you ordering the pads from each vendor from the kits?

    I did this upgrade on my 70 Monte, did ur factory master work fine? Cause now all I have is basically the rear drums doing the work and the fronts do not grab as they should? Have bled the system many times. No air.

      @averagedadsgarage  Před 4 lety

      Ynot racing You need to make sure your master cylinder is set up for Disc/drum if that’s what you’re running. My car originally had drum/drum. I converted the fronts to disc without changing the master and ran into the same problem as you’re describing. You’ll need to make sure your master is setup for your combination. I ended up switching mine out for a wilwood that has an adjustable proportioning valve.

    Since this is a 64-72 A body, why wouldn't a person be able to go to a salvage yard and pull spindles off a disc brake version and install them on a 65 skylark? Thanks in advance

    Would this work with a hydroboost set up I have disc In front and drums in rear

    • @averagedadsgarage
      @averagedadsgarage  Před 3 lety

      Should work just fine. I’m running a hydro boost setup as well. And if you already have discs in the front, you shouldn’t have to change your proportioning valve or master cylinder.

      The only thing it doesn’t come with is the steering arm, which I simply just saved from my old factory setup. Check www.classicperform.com for price.

    • @averagedadsgarage
      @averagedadsgarage  Před 3 lety

      No. I remember they only had one length, which was longer than I needed, so I had to cut them down a bit because my lug nuts are capped on the ends.

      Not sure. But if you go on Classicperformance.com, they have kits for 64 impalas. Unfortunately their web site doesn’t have photos for every kit, so it’s sometimes hard to know what your buying.
