- Today we put the SCAG Turf Tiger 2 to the test and let her rip on the regular mowing schedule. A lot of you guys enjoyed the walk around that Rich did, but now it's time to put it in the field.
I had a lot of fun today mowing all kinds of different properties with the SCAG Turf Tiger 2. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it mowed, and how much faster we got done with our route today.
All things being said, there's going to be another video coming out comparing the Exmark Lazer Z X-Series to the SCAG Turf Tiger 2, so stay tuned for that!
I'm curious to know your guys thoughts on the TT2. Do you guys have a unit with more than a few hundred hours? How has the unit held up, what don't you like, etc. Leave me a comment down below!

I used to be team ExMark. I still love love ExMark but have gone team orange. Got a walk behind on a deal and never looked back. Now have 6 Scags and one lone sexy Exy left in the rotation. Will be trading it out for a Cheetah next season. Love.the vids and honest reviews. Hey and Vt was 89 last week Friday and 62 Saturday. Crazy swings in temps. Hard to get used to the weather. We say here, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."

I demoed one last week it's a beast all the power you need and cut very good I had no wet grass to try it on it is fast. And it seems like it done fairly well on fuel

In all the years you had the mower , how do you think the Vanguard stacks up. I just bought a used Turf Tiger today, with 1200 hours with the 61 Deck and 37 Vanguard. I only have a decent size lawn in the country. I won't be putting a ton of hours on it. I have a 2009 Zero that only has 660 hours on it.
I have 130 hours on mine. Love the machine.
Have a scag 06 not the gen 2. 61" 35 vangaurd 730 hrs. It's a tank cuts great not a stripping mower with out the stripe kit but nice even cut. Only issues I've had being electrical related due to poor connections simple fix after I found the cause. Hydros are loud but every scag is like that. It's a power how wet/dew tall grass does good. Hills 👍. My opinion exmark cuts extremely well in dry conditions leaves a nice stripe also very crisp. But doesn't handle wet stuff nor tall stuff as good. Perfect conditions id go exmark but real life weather etc. Scag gets it done.

Although I’m a fan of of scag. It’s all we own. In the next few years I may switch to exmark. They seem like great built machines.
One thing also thats holding me back from switching from exmark to scag is the convenience of exmarks begging system. It comes off so easy its hard to imagine going to the soft tube and clamp style...🤔😕
SCAG makes great mowers, and the Velocity Plus Deck is second to none. I have a Toro 5000 Series, and Scag V-Ride. Both are great machines, but when it comes to Bahia grass, no mower can tackle that tough grass.
You can definitely cover some ground with the Tiger. Can't complain about those stripes either, lol.

I did a demo with a vride 2 for a few days while my exmark was getting fixed and I just didn’t think the cut was as clean as my exmark. I personally noticed that the Lazer shot the clippings further appearing to be a cleaner cut and the scag seemed to have more denser areas of clippings. What are you thoughts about it compared to exmark?
Yup, looks like every last strand of grass is cut. My customer pay for the scag difference. Quality. Scag and Exmark are 1 and 2 just depends on who you are talking to for which 1 is #1.
That being said, I own 2 scags.
Just got the turf tiger 1 for 3k. Guy used it for homeowner use only. Has 1200 hours with a 25hp Koehler. Hydro is tight as new.

My Turf Tiger is the best mower I’ve ever used. It’s amazing on hills, cuts through thick tall grass like it’s nothing due to the driveshaft driven deck. The massive tires hold steep hills and the low center of gravity gas tank adds to stability. The large hydros are very powerful and are cooled very well. Having the back of the mower open up to easily fix issues you may have it a great feature. The frame is a double tubular setup that will last for years. You can easily change our motors and get thousands of hours out of the Turf Tiger frame. I can go on and on.

Yeah like i have posted before and have a scag and Ferris and love both! Just had an issue with scag though with it shutting down on me while mowing. Not even mowing tall grass. We mow in missouri with 90+ degrees and heat Index got up to about 107. The scag would start to die then I shut the blades off and ran it. Seemed to go back to normal and then it would do it again. Then on turns it began to almost shut down. So I shut it off and let it cool down for a while then went to mowing again not a problem. Didnt do it when it got cooler. I took it in and the dealer was blaming me! After I did some research the charcoal canisters on it were messing up and so they had to fix the issue but stuck me with the bill! When it is covered! I paid it and went on but I’d go with a Ferris. With the setup on a scag with the charcoal canisters for the epa nonsense people are having the same issues. I wasn’t the only one. But scag doesn’t want to mess with the warranty and a lot of dealers will blame you! They did me! I told them man I do commercial I know how to run a mower!! Lol. Come on! Anyway, go with a Ferris! Any problem they cover it no fuss!! The scags cut great!! I absolutely love mine but after my bad experience, I’d ask your dealer! Especially about those charcoal canisters!!

I have this exact mower. How do I line up my wheels to get the straight wide stripes? I love the mowers just working on my stripes. First time I have ever owned a zero turn.

Demoed a Turf tiger 2 last year and a lazer z x series both 60” decks. We went with the scags! No comparison really. They are built so much better and the decks are better. I did like the EXmark seat better though. That was about it .
The Bow God literally been doing the same thing all week, I had the exact same thoughts. Scag rides better but that seat on the exmark is tits. Going with the turf tiger 2 tomorrow

I use the turf tiger 2 at work, I mow for a school district here in Syracuse, NY. I love it, we also have a gravely and a Dixie Chopper classic. My question is, how do you always have 1 stripe darker than the other?

I have a Scag cheeta and Ferris is2100z mow a cemetery. Cheeta is mow easy to get around stuff. But the ferris mows better. More even no bouncing. Side note Scag is 48inch ferris is 61. Yes the smaller mower is easier to get around because it is smaller. I mean it seams more instant move less lag.

yes had air ride that was my first time on a commercial mower i have a husqvarna rz5424 this was crazy compared to what i am used too
I ran a Turf Tiger 1 for a while, even after 3 seasons it was still good and tight, strips are amazing not to have a stripe kit on it
I've seen some guys use a drone camera to show stripes on flat lawns, otherwise if the property has a hilly area, gives u the best striping perspective "on camera". Like trying to use a 90's cam recorder on a old school tube TV, looks nothing like being there.
Looking for you to demo a jacobsen stander and a 37hp wright stander zk2 and compare it to the v ride 2 & the turf tiger 2

I've had 3 scags and love the the cut and how well it does when people want their grass short. But never had good luck with scag or their dealers in my area. For the kinds of properties I've seen you mow, why not just a 61" Vride2 and another smaller V ride2 for the other stuff, like a 48 or 52. Two standers would be better for you imho. There is a reason that standers are so popular and why Z's seem outdated now. Only reason I would buy a Z is for a 72" deck and huge open commercial or municiple properties. Turf Tiger 2 is a great machine though without a doubt I'm not sure why a guy like you would want one given the smaller more nimble stander application.

JronmanBuilds not bad at all once you get the hang of it... me personally I don’t ever hold the top of the controls .. I hold em down low I feel I get way more control and all it take is basically finger/wrist movement ... the hydros on this thing are very precise ..
