    I started at 17. Drinking almost every weekend, a lot of the time too much, and ended it at 39. Drinking everyday after work a 6 pack or more of beer plus swigging vodka out of mickey’s I had hidden all around the house. Hangovers were a daily Thing. When they were really bad I would take a couple shots in the morning to get moving. I blacked out regularly I drove drunk all the time. I was very depressed, obese, anxiety ridden and sometimes had suicidal ideation. I wasted soo many years being selfish. When my first marriage collapsed I drank so I couldn’t feel. But instead I was an emotional mess. My kids saw alot of my drinking and I’m very ashamed of how I acted. I got sober January 1st 2019. I made it 1 year and a month. I thought I was fine. I thought I could drink like a regular person after proving I could so long without alcohol. but I was dead wrong. Within 1 week of the first drink I was hiding vodka all over the house again and blacking out. My last drink was March 6th 2020. I woke up late for work. I have no memory if my last night drinking. I showed up to work still very intoxicated. I sat in my car in tears. I couldn’t do this anymore. I hated myself. I knew I was going to die. I remembered this thing I heard in a recovery meeting about burning the ships. About not having anymore secrets. I came out to my bosses that morning. I told them the whole truth. I then told my fiancé everything as well. I’ve been sober for 2 years this March. It’s been hard but I love how I feel now. Even my worst days now are nothing compared to the self hate I used to spew at myself before. It’s possible to change. But you have to really be sick and tired of being sick and tired.

      I started drinking at 16 im now 33. I have been through similar things you have said, i went sober for a whole month this year and i loved it, i gave more time to my partner and step children and they saw the real me, i felt happier and more wholesome i loved waking up esp in the weekends not hungover or missing work due to hangovers during the week, then i thought id have a drink then totally relapsed, i hated myself and what i put my loved 1s through esp myself physically mentally and emtionally i was a wreck and was going to either commit suicide or die by the bottle. Today is the day i pick myself back up bounce back and regain the life i loved.

    • @KonradvanderHorst
      @KonradvanderHorst Před 2 lety +2

      @@NZnolimit you can do it. It’s not easy at first but it gets easier as time goes on. I’m not going lie and say it never crosses my mind but the cravings get so light and short it’s extremely easy to brush them off and continue on with life. I think the fact that alcohol is so accepted as a normal thing to do that those cravings come around at all. It seems like everyone I know drinks and my workplace has it as a fundamental way to get together to unwind outside of work. It has made me feel left out at times. It’s not worth it though destroying my life to fit in. The feelings you have after your relapse are normal and healthy. They are a sign that you have awoken from a slumber that you were in for many years. You will never be able to go backwards to those times again when you were naïve to your actions. It’s the greatest gift you could have ever received. Some many people walk through their whole life never tasting that truth.

      Yes once the withdrawal is done. I found after 2 weeks I did not feel any sickness. I still could not sleep. It took 6 months for everything to go back to “normal”. There will always be cravings. Life has cravings it’s no excuse to go back. I also do not have all the side effects. Not being able to drive, stomach and GI issues etc. the list of reasons to drink is short. The reasons not to is almost endless. Getting in a relationship with a person that is not a drinker helped. I find dating people that even “go out” as a hobby to be too much of a trigger. I start that way, but it is no time before I am back to drinking at home. I personally find alcohol to be an issue when a person is using. Meaning not having drinks, but purely using it for the effect.

In her sober life, she displays full-on histrionics triangulates me by misrepresenting my behavior, character and reactions to her sinister tactics. She'll self harm when it's a full meltdown. I can't take it anymore. My family is disinterested even though I have a bunch of secret recordings and my mom has heard her screaming in the background. She said she doesn't need to hear it, huffed and puffed then said she'll call her. That made it worse and I had to take double my antidepressant and PTSD meds to knock myself out to sleep. I keep my bedroom locked. She enjoys the release, I can tell. She also hates when people sh¡t on alcoholism. Not alcoholics - the alcoholism itself. When not wasted, she's irritated, uninterested, negative and is always in histrionic mode. She's also a craft beer and liquor connoisseur and collects rare craft beers and trades them. She's also very greedy about her drink except when holding my flying monkey mother hostage - she'll feed her all this alcohol then the night winds up with her screaming down at my mom and mom trying to appease her. My mom is driving home drunk because she doesn't pass up a drink with my sister almost like she's doing it to get through the situation.

Let her see you are noticing and she'll call you right out and talking about how she can't help it, all in a confrontational tone. Naturally, she was resistant and saying she's not willing to talk about her drunk behavior because it stresses her and makes her uncomfortable basically. So, I explained to her that at 29 years old, she's _going_ to have to accept that in life, we all will find ourselves in uncomfortable situations and sh¡t and therefore, we're going to talk about it _now,_ and so we did. She never got anger and she was basically sober so we actually got somewhere and she was horrified by the things u told her she puts me through. We'll see if anything progresses👀

      Different substances affect people differently.
      I can drink alcohol and easily manage my behavior, but when I smoke marijuana - and I’ve tried 3 times - I throw up, I have panic attacks, cry for hours, and become extremely paranoid.
      But my girlfriend cannot drink AT ALL. She becomes just like your sister, insanity and all. She is sober now and she smokes marijuana occasionally to manage her mood, to make her more calm. Her body absolutely cannot take alcohol, but her body can handle marijuana.
      My point is that alcohol and other substances can become a problem or become extremely toxic for someone depending on their natural brain and body chemistry. I think it is very interesting.
