  • In this video I revisit the Big Yew I started in a previous video and I also create some Jins on this tree.
    I then show you a few other large yews that were dug up at the same time and have had no work done on them.
    I also show you some field grown trident maples.

    What I like about Peter is he allows you to make your own mind up as too how you work on your tree , some other Bonsai masters expect you to follow there way of teaching only , I guess its down to you, how will you ever get better unless you make mistakes and learn from them. Thank Peter and the team at Herons

    Mr. Chan first off Thank you so very much for helping me to start my bonsai journey. I especially love free bonsi material even your idea of stripping electrical wire. I recently met a small Christmas tree farmer through my ag. supply. He had a card on the wall $3 Japanese black pines. Glad I called and went long story shot he has give me a 20 or 30 year old Pinus sylvestris thats in his field. So could u please include the digging of the field grown material.I plan on hand digging. Do you all root prune a year early.i will also have 2 ball and burlap 2 make it to my home. It's a beautiful tree with about 8inch of diameter only 4 foot tall. I have pictures if you could reach out when you have the time.

      I live in pine county USA lol eastern North Carolina. So tons of free common material but I look for the beauty in every plant and with work and time u have shown me it's not only possible but addicting I can't even drive now without almost wrecking looking at all the beautiful trees we have all around us.😬 Merry Christmas and have a safe new year

    I live in Michigan and I have three Yew bushes with huge Nebari (about 30-50 years old) that I want to dig up and re-pot into large plastic pots for future Bonsai.
    These are great specimens, however, they are canopy heavy with foliage. They are shrubs and the inner branches do not have much growth, if any growth at all. What time of year should I dig them up, to repot them, and what would be your suggestion to create some inner budding on mature branches?
    Thank you and love the channel!
    Heiwa! ☮️

    • @Tony.795
      @Tony.795 Před 7 měsíci

      This is best done in winter when they are in dormancy. Yew are good at regenerating, so I would lighten up the foliage so that light has access to the inner part of the branches and it will verly likely resprout.

    despite you growing these giant trident maples, are there even any bonsai clientele or artists in the UK that will even take an interest in this material? From what I'm familiar with, many places are having a surge in bonsai artists like in the usa, italy, spain, some latin american countries, but havent heard anything about artists coming from the UK. Even still, most bonsai artists don't keep a collection of massive trees like this unless they run a large nursery like Bonsai Mirai. Is there even a market for this material in the UK?

    • @peterchan3100
      @peterchan3100 Před 2 lety +3

      We run a large bonsai nursery and we have some very very very rich clients who can afford these trees - so dont worry, there is a lot of interest in these large bonsai. Our last Japanese garden project took 18 very large garden pines and film companies regularly hire our bonsai for film shoots -
