The Lean Jalop is a hobbyist with a passionate love for Japanese cars (especially Toyotas), and a relentless drive to improve his hobby using LEAN - specifically, the elimination of waste.

What is Waste? There are 8 forms of waste - each of which will rob you of joy, money, and time.

Defects - Did you break something? Did you damage something in the process? That is a defect.
Overproduction - The worst of all wastes ! Did you over prep parts? Did you build ahead? This will always lead to the other 7 wastes !
Waiting - Are you waiting for parts / tools / instructions to show up?
Non-Utilized Talent - Did you ever do a task that is a waste of your massive brain power and ability?
Transportation - Moving material / parts / tools around the shop does not necessarily bring satisfaction or value.
Inventory - Are you tripping over extra parts? Did you buy more material than you needed for the job?
Motion - Did you arrange your tools / materials / cars so you don’t have to move all around the shop to get to them?
Extra / Under / Crappy Processing - Did you do it right the first time? Do you have to go back and REDO it? Did you do half-baked work to begin with? Did you do more than was really necessary?
