I am using this laptop since past 4 months. Its value for money. Great performance, efficiency, battery, build, graphics n visuals. Only negative I found is pathetic speaker sound, no base, no loudness.
Will you make a review of the 14ey100 model? I was planning to buy it but can't seem to find any good review, and I don't know if the CPU is being limited like other HP products...
It's a nice laptop but the fan noise is so annoying! Goes up and down with a high tone almost all time. It's unfortunately annoying in a quiet room. Thinking about returning the laptop because of that issue 😩
bro you seem very knowledgeable about laptops. man do you have any suggestions for someone coming from a Mac? I have used apple for years but now some of the programs I run are native to windows. I was leaning on a Lenovo Ideapad Pro. It feels sturdy and not made of plastic like some of the Asus. Haven't really looked into the Acer brand. Any suggestions would help bro I'd really appreciate it cause I'm pulling my hair out. I will say someone at Microcenter told me not to look at brands but look at specs instead. Anyway hopefully you reply. thanks and keep up the good work. Oh yea has to be a 16 inch
Stay away from Acer. Asus has good specs but are very flimzy. HP and Lenovo are good, in terms of built quality. If you want something to last you a long time, Lenovo Thinkpads are the best.
nice review man, can you do one for the asus vivobook m16 ryzen 7th gen edition? I really love the 16:10 display on it but everything else is pretty mediocre
Thank you very much for the work you do in the videos. I have doubts about buying an HP Pavilion Plus 14 or a Dell Inspiron 14 plus, and I don't know which may be a better option. What do you think?
You may have said this in the video, but does the laptop have DC Dimming? Another reviewer for 2023 model said it did not, so wondering if 2024 model does. This is a deal breaker for me if it does not have DC dimming.
I know you briefly talked about programming in this video but would you suggest this as a everyday school laptop for someone who is taking computer science?
Oh I luv this piece of a legendary build which is actually underpriced (RELIEF). So satisfying to see Dell being cooked again. Enough of THE CRAPS NAMED LATITUDE, INSPIRON, and XPS. One of the highest levels of scam I've sever seen. Hats off to Lenovo, HP, and Asus who emerged as some of the best manufacturers of Windows laptops, despite several of their prominent blunders. This laptop was a massive competitor to my ultimate choice of the Envy 16. This was because of the INCREDIBLE battery (I hate 7hrs on my Envy 16, too much bad), the better hinge, and the superb budget bang, but the fully recessed screen and greater productivity use of the Envy 16 paved the path for the Envy 16 to win alongside the Yoga 7i which wasn't available at the store. Unfortunately, these beacons are seeing their last days as HP has went full-in rebranding with the Snapdragon X Elite which isn't really recommendable (big bubble but why is Qualcomm so reluctant with the performance benchmarks on high settings though?) x86 shall reign for another 2 years but some are already seeing their demise. This is specially bad news for large laptops users like me for the 16 inch versions have been trashed in favor of maximum 15 or slighty larger by decimal sizes. 💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻💻
I dunno, maybe leaving some space for the higher series to gain some advantage over it. It is a budget Envy or Spectre anyway who do have a high budget but reach the $1000 limit. That's how businesses work anyway.
Anyine looking to buy this is getting a significantly worse deal. This 2024 version is absolutely unnecessary unless their motive was to make eveyone buy the last year's version. The 2023 hp pavilion plus amd ryzen 7840u demolishes this in every aspect other than slightly worse performance and thunderbolt 4 port. I will take the AMD processor anyday over these meteor lake ones for a much better life and improved thermals. I thunk that will be even cheaper now. Last I saw, it was available at 600 USD.
I’ve had 2 HP laptops (one of which was a Pavilion)….and they were the worst laptops I’ve ever had, especially the first one - despite the good specs, the performance of both machines was absolute crap and battery life went from 100% to 0% in two seconds flat (figuratively). It was so bad I’ve never been able to consider HP laptops viable options since then.
Aside from the Pavilion, which one did you have? I have the Envy 16 and it works wonders for me. Just being careful with the hinge, but I use it on my desk so no problem. But yeah, their lower end series and the Envy x360 series are CRAPS. Better buy a HP with the premium logo which is not a part of the Envy x360 series and you are good to go.
@@nexxsam Exactly. That’s why they are useless. They are a bit overpriced so the Spectre is the more viable option. The Envy series is like a sweet spot but mistreated. HP’s gotta fix this.
@@nexxsam My Envy 16 has a weaker hinge than my 5 years old Acer Swift 3 which I mistreated by even punching the hinge when it wouldn’t work. Atleast the hinge is good enough for what it is, a clamshell laptop. The hinge is just decent. I can imagine your feeling about the x360s though.
@@DDG_IN47 No, you’re not (good to go) - the other HP I had wasn’t an Envy x360 model (both HPs were mid-high models costing over $900) and it was still crap. Only Lenovo is crappier imo.
It boggles my mind why HP still gives 300 nits screen for expensive gaming laptops. Can't they at least give a mini-LED screen? This is one of the reasons I am not going for HP gaming laptops at the moment.
The 2023 AMD version has a much better battery life, comparable performance and better thermals. This is a downgrade in every aspect other than the inclusion of a thunderbolt 4 port.

Glad you like the review. I have a review on the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus as well that you can check out :)
I got this laptop for 750 cad, 846 after tax, is that a good deal?
i think a single body hinge is better, those other dual small hinges tend to break
Thank you for tell me it is alumium build ... Best Buy website has NO information on this. cheers. Do you know if it has an INTEL wifi card?
I ended up buying the ultra 7 155H machine. It's awesome!
I'm here for the One-Piece anime highlights, and SoulOfTech never fails me.
Haha, gotta keep the streak going 😅

Hey thanks, details in the video description:)
Hello, have you tested the new 2024 HP Envy 17 even off stream? How does it stack against other 16 inch laptops?
When’s the podcast starting? These videos are so eloquently narrated.
You’re too kind my dude
Is ryzen 7840u is better than ultra5 125h right??
Can i go for this Lap for my uni (Machine Learning) course???
Does pavillion have hinge issue
I know you briefly talked about programming in this video but would you suggest this as a everyday school laptop for someone who is taking computer science?
With 16gb of ram (or higher) you will be ok
Thanks for reviewing my request
Happy to do so :)
is this laptop much better than lenovo 3i and 5i? Idk what to pick..
The 3i stands no chance, but the 5i does offer tough competition. This is a super safe option though, and you are offered a lot on the table by HP.
This laptop competes directly with the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro series, the 5i is technically more in line with the standard Pavilion series.

This Pavilion is great for sure!
oled for $690 would have been unreal just a few years ago.
And the AMD model ey100 just makes it better
Why are the bezels so thick

definitely i am considering the hp pavilion 16 w 2 type c cos my matebook 14 battery bloated after 3 years lol...
hello for me its the oled potential burn it. is it known for hp or if i do am just not lucky.
The laptop will be well outdated before the OLED would ever have issues. Just enjoy the amazing display my friend.
thats might happen on every other OLED
Please could i know where you got your background feom?
Hey, link in description:)
and my country dosent bring in huawei so after my uni laptop dies i have to change brand now...

How about the 14z-ey100 for $758. It has Ryzen 7 8845HS?
bruh can you please share your review regarding the HP pavilion 14 plus with amd ryzen 7 7840u and AMD Radeon 780M
Compared to inspiron 14 i7 which one is better?
I have a revive on the Inspiron 14 as well on the channel. Hope that helps!
