Golf Shafts - WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU PLAY!?

  • Golf shafts can certainly be an intimidating subject.
For this Friday onion drop I've visited the KBS Experience in Carlsbad and brought the resident club fitter David Anderson onboard to assist. Follow along as we reveal an easy to follow road map that will expand your knowledge on the key components when it comes to choosing the right shafts for your game.
There isn't a player type out there that Dave and myself haven't encountered and our wide scope means there's something in this content for all. We deep dive into feel and how that can impact players of certain ages V's time playing the game and when should you genuinely look to seek out a shaft fitting.
Be sure to dive in those comments and I'll do all I can to reply.

Love the content keep it coming. I will echo the sentiment about how important shaft can be and how it is very player dependent. I am a PGA member and recently did a multi session iron fitting (*because the first session shaft winner made no sense). I am a 52 year old pro, but can still get to 110+ SS with driver. The best iron shaft of the session. by a decent margin was the Nippon Zelos 7 stiff. I did it again a week later, and then about a month later and the Zelos was the clear winner. Literally makes no sense at all, yet here we are. It's the reason why we go through the fitting process to see if there is something that feels better than others, performs better than others, and produces the results we are looking for.

Great to get some knowledge on shaft profiles. How long would it normally take an amateur with a proper fitter to figure out what type of shaft they'd be good with? I ask, because most amateur fittings we're given an hour, which flies by and you never feel like you've gotten a clear idea of what the good numbers are that you're being put into.

Not a great golfer. Seem to slice a bit and had Taylor Made Sim 2 max full set. I found the driver hard work and the irons heavy so need this time to make sure it’s set for me. Without seeing my game what kinda thing would you recommend?
I also have purchased the tour aim so I can actually practice properly. I have been on the range a lot but it’s hitting off mats and also been practicing the wrong thing! Do you have any suggestions on using the tour aim?

The whole shaft recommendation piece, honestly you gotta get a fitting. Look at the 105g weight as a start point but I'm loosely basing that off what I'm reading here. Very tough for me to nail it without seeing you hit it.

hey mate. 1" off driver would be "standard" albeit I hate listed any kind of standard as obv you're playing around a lot with feel.
But look if you need an absolute this is what I go off:
      1" driver
      1.5" 3 wood
      2" 5 wood
      STR in Rescue 17
      .25" or .5" rescue 19
      .5" rescue 22
Hybrid shafts generally stronger in the tips so you don't have to go crazy on the tipping

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  Před 23 dny

Irons I'd keep in the same profile albeit I have seen Tour guys change the long irons V's short but for the most part proceed with caution into that space. Woods can be more specific and wedges can be more specific but irons for the most part keep the same.
