yes...moving into position in anticipation of the ball is the most difficult part of the game to learn. I believe there is not enough attention given to this element by the coaches

Nice video. This is your second video of Ma Long's forehand technique I'm watching. The first was with Xu xin at the Werner Schlarger academy. I've improved over the years on my forehand technique.
Watching this video in SLO MO, I see how Ma Long's racket is opened above 45 degrees, and this is quite impossible to do with Europe Tensor rubber. I've played with European rubbers for about 6 years now, and recently Chinese Rubbers. I must confess I'm in love with the Chinese rubbers especially on my forehand side (DHS G888).

Kỹ thuật fh trung quốc là kỹ thuật tứ giác chứ ko phải "tam giác"-đó là quy trình vòng quay khép kín bao gồm 4 giai đoạn: (1)CHẶT(giúp tay ko di chuyển tự do mà di chuyển cùng với phần trên cơ thể) -> (2)LỎNG(thả lỏng cổ tay trước khi vào bóng,nếu bạt thì tăng lực còn giật thì thả lỏng cổ tay để tăng ma sát) -> (3)CHẶT(tăng lực, tăng ma sát đòi hỏi lực toàn thân)->(4)LỎNG(sau khi tăng lực hoặc ma sát lập tức thả lỏng để thực thực hiện đc cú đánh kế tiếp). Giai đoạn 1 là giai đoạn bắt đầu lấy đà đến khi vợt ở thấp nhất, ngày trước tôi ko biết đc giai đoạn này, mất rất nhiều thời gian quan sát vđv TQ mới phát hiện ra, nắm chặt vợt với 1 lực vừa phải và dùng phân thân người xoay lấy đà cánh tay sẽ di chuyển cùng về sau. Giai đoạn 2 là từ khi vợt ở vị trí thấp nhất đến lúc vợt va chạm bóng, giai đoạn này ko nắm chặt vợt nữa mà thả lỏng ra. Giai đoạn 3 là gai đoạn từ lúc va chạm bóng đến khi bóng rời vợt,gai đoạn này đòi hỏi lực toàn thân và có cảm giác tốt, đây là giai đoạn khó nhất. Giai đoạn 4 là giai đoạn kết thúc từ khi bóng rời vợt đến khi vợt ở vị trí cao nhất đối với cú giật). Giai đoạn 1 tôi mới phát hiện ra khi quan sát các vđv TQ đập bóng rồi để ý nhiều ở cú giật thì thấy giai đoạn 1 này rất rõ và khuôn mẫu ở vđv Ml. giai đoạn 4 rõ nhất ở ZJK. Nếu thiếu 1 trong 4 gđ thì cú đánh ko ổn định và liên tục đc. Đây là điều tôi góp vui có thể đúng có thể sai

For this stroke, where is the optimal contact point on the racket? It seems that Ma Long is contacting the ball on the lower part of the racket, is that correct?

this is correct, he plays with hard sponge and grippy rubber. Hitting the ball on the lower part can give extra dwell time (stick to the rubber) this in combination with the acceleration in the stroke give more spin as the ball sticks and rolls over the rubber. Longer contact equals more spin with these rubbers.
Tensor rubbers have less dwell time and are more forgiving on shorter strokes as the ball diggs into the sponge wich creates a mechanical catapult effect that creates spin and speed. With a hard rubber that's not possible so you have to hit the ball with enough power and speed in your stroke to get those heavy spin balls.
