The WD40 will dry out over time and the tires will be hard again only when they do they will crack real easy because the WD40 breaks down the rubber! If you want softer tires buy them they will last longer
I bagged mine individually and measured with a scale how much force it took to collapse the tires (before and after) they went from 3.5 lbs to 2lbs in about ten hours
Petroleum oils swell rubber. Great use of something us mechanics stay away from normally. Good video.
I didn't know this , call me crazy but the bushings on my Toyota Corolla are wore out been that way for years, I'm gonna soak them in wd_40

RC tire sauce has been used since the 1990s. Petroleum based products break the rubbers used in the rc tires down causing the swelling you see but will destroy the tires quickly. RC Tire sauce is mostly used to give more traction by breaking the rubber down on a molecular level. Tire sauce = Lighter fluid mixed with paint thinner , liquid wrench mixed with camping fuel etc...

Have you tried turning the tires inside out and sanding them down, thinning the rubber out instead of soaking them? I put the new c54 tires on without the full foam. I trimmed the foam down to allow the tire to still have give but not have the sidewalls cave when on the slop. But for the hard tires I myself would try sanding some of the material away first. Just a thought.

Rather than Superglue have you tried clear bathroom sealant? It's more flexible and water resistant.

they are full size tires ,there is a company in Brazil (i think) that Does retreads that look like this, they start out as All terrain tires (bf goodrich) and they make them insane, they use them for driving though the jungle . here is a video of the trails they use them on, the tires arn't in the video tho, I wanted to get a Container of them imported to the US, but didn't have the funds, I will try to find the company that does it czcams.com/video/i3fxpItjNSU/video.html
I did this, definitely worked. But now the tires will not even go on the rims. I wish I would have put the wd40 on more carefully and only got the wd40 on the treads of the tire, not all down the sides n everywhere. Keeping the tires mounted on the rims and just rolling them through some wd40 n brushing it on would have been better.
yes, I agree, it makes the whole tire grow, makes it slip on the rim, plus the tires got hard again they dont stay soft

i dont see why not, the tires are super soft and are working awesome . i didn't even glue them. but probably should . the wd-40 made these hard tires nice and soft

I heard 6 hours is good. I got busy and it was 9 or 10 . It did increase the tire size by 3-4 mm . In the video I said I dont recomend doing this (because of the increase in rim diameter) but after a couple days of running them I like it (wpl rtr tires are junk to me) but after the wd40 I'm using them, super soft now
So what happened after a week or month?? Still soft? Still swollen?

Exponentially - I do not think this word means what you think it means.
If the tires swelled up that much, I’d be questioning if they’re rubber or something else. Rubber usually won’t swell that much with WD. MAYBE SPRAY EM WITH SOME simple Green and leave them overnight. If they rubber, they’ll be obnoxiously sticky after you towel them off or let them dry off. Otherwise, they’re MADE OF salvaged stuff from a crashed UFO, and we now know why the UFO crashed - sub-par rubber substitute.
at 6 hours not much change, but at 9 hours they changed alot. whats a good word for something that increases at a rapid rate? I guess i didn't learn the proper terms in school . I dont know what the tires are made of, only can tell you the difference soaking them in WD-40 made. it made them almost 4mm taller than before.
In what situation, other than headlocks, would you not glue your tires to the wheel? Also, what do you mean by “kit tires”? RTR are generally referred to as kit tires, as they came with the vehicle. Anyway, easy on the WD40. That was a lot.
With WPL-RC the rtr tires are hard, and kit tires are soft, I was trying to make the hard tires soft, it worked but they have hardened back up since then, yeah gotta glue tires most of the time, thanks for watching my little experiment
Just to clarify more, with wpl you get a bunch of upgrade parts with their kits, including the tires, which are softer.
