- In this armoring tutorial I’ll show you how to make a highly decorated vambrace including etching and brass parts. Vambraces / forearm guards are part of medieval plate armor meant to protect forearm.
Most of the vambrace is made from 1,5 mm steel. In this project I wanted to learn more about metal etching and armor mobility. One of the key features of plate armor is it’s mobility.
Watch the tutorial and learn to make armor yourself! You can use it in cosplay or just decoration and it’s a fun fay to learn some metalworking.

Greeting from r/metalworking ! You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber!
Welcome, glad to have you!
Damn I didn't even know you started posting again, well at least I have something to binge now lol
Haha glad to hear! Hope you enjoy
If you make choose between this vambrace and a very expensive Rolex,I would pick this one ,I would wear it in my wedding too,and the office.
Haha it might raise some questions but would be cool for sure
Hey garage knight I’m planning on making a great Helm Similar to the one you made but I had a few questions on the template you have. I do have to say I am incredibly grateful for the fact that you gave your temples out because they are so hard to find!!
Thank you! I left an answer in the great helm video
Oh hell yeah
That came out awesome.
The etching made it stand out.
You did a very nice job
Thank you very much! Yeah the etching can really make a difference
another awesome video dude!
Thanks man, glad you liked it!
Great work! I loved the video.
Glad to hear, thanks for watching!
Hey can you make the Armor from berserk (2017) ??
Please 😅
Along with its colour
NOOO THAT POOR MOOMIN!!
He survived, lucky him
Wonderful! This is incredible!
Have you ever tried that coating technique with bronze? I was wondering if that would work too
Thank you! No I haven't, but it's metal paint so I think it should work just fine.
@@GarageKnight Thanks, I'll give it a try!
This looks good.I want to make bear claw style vambraces like ones the stormcloaks were wearing myself, but the problems is those talons.
Thanks! I got some inspiration from those. I think those talons need welding equipment to attach
@@GarageKnight I think like that too,but the problem i an armor itself.I think these talons would be used in a fight as a knuckles but the point is these would easily break attached only to a metal sheat. My idea is adding some knuckle like rings to the bottom of fingers as a second attachment, but that's only theorical.
Yeah you might be right, I haven't welded so I don't know.
Waited for four months, crying, crying
You should probably switch to a water baking soda (soda not powder) mix. That way you are not making anymore chlorine gas.
Never heard of that, I'll look into it
Great job, how long does it take to create this?
Thank you! Usually my projects take tens of hours. This one took propably about 50 hours, but I really can't remember anymore.
Magnifique ! Pourquoi chauffez vous la pièce de métal lorsque vous utilisez la brosse métallique ? C'est pour mieux polir ?
Merci beaucoup! I need to use the heat to transfer the brass to the steel. When I use the heat, small particles of brass come off from the brass and form a layer on the steel
@@GarageKnight ok good I understand! Et à quoi cela sert de déposer une couche de laiton ? Merci !!
The brass is just for decoration. Steel is cheaper and stronger than brass, so I like to coat steel with brass rather than use brass
What happened to the new Mandalorian helmet video and chest armor??
I'll look into it, youtube bugging I guess
Real beskar'gam are better
