I'm primarily a mixed media artist trying to earnest learn to use watercolor. After a ton of research, this set seemed like a good point between value and quality. The lightfast really ratings seemed good on these for the price too. If I decide I am really into watercolor, some of the colors can be replaced with just a few tubes from other companies. I appreciate having more blues to practice color mixing, and that's one of the reasons I decided to get this. Unless a set leans into blues specifically, they all seem to be limited. I just ordered a Qor set and mixing them with these will also be a blast.
Thanks for your demo! I am showing it to a friend looking for a set! Your work is magnificent!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment 😊 I appreciate it very much. I hope you'll enjoy these paints . I've been absolutely loving them and I'm ready to give my full review video ( uploading soon ) I think you'll love the blues in this set. And for the price you do also get 3 genuine cobalts in here . These are all high quality pigments . Quinacridones , phthalos, umbers . Real artist pigments for a good price. I'd steer clear of some of their other sets though just because many are convenient mixtures with 3 or more pigments and some are even fugitive. But you can't go wrong with this pure pigment set.

Beautiful swatching video! I have the 36 single pigment set and the selection is just wonderful! Mission Gold tends to sit still in water- without any movement, so I usually add a little ox gall to my mission gold paints when drying the out in pans but for some people paints that don't move in water is preferable, Im interested in seeing your full review and thoughts😃. Anyway great video and thanks for sharing 💜

Rose madder PR176 is not lightfast as it fades in the diluted form, check Kimberley crick arts video of Daniel Smiths watercolour lightfastness.

I had a feeling that was the case and thank you for the information. Much appreciated 👍 . I'm conducting my own lightfast testing now but I didn't trust it for professional work . It's a very pretty color though . Shame . But the rose is right there and very lightfast to use so I'm not too disappointed in mission gold. Everything else in the set seems solid.

So I checked out kim cricks post on her Daniel smith lightfast results and it looks like pr176 is lightfast in masstone but not stable in tints . However it still did better than pr177 anthra. Red . I've been complaining about pr177 for years . The ASTM needs to change the rating on it . Qor , Daniel smith and others use pr177 as their " permanent " crimson or carmine . It's very misleading. It fades bad in moonglow so I had to mix my own. Why won't DS replace the red ? 🥺😭

@@nicolemartinart5819 also about mission gold. Their olive green is not lightfast as the PR112 fades. Also what is funny is that they sell aureolin which is lightfast as it is a hue, and they sell cobalt yellow which is genuine aureolin PY40 which isn't lightfast but they rate it as lightfast. Prussian blue PB27 is advertised as lightfast but it is fugitive. Mijello blue is gorgeous but it has the Prussian blue in it so it is fugitive

@@alizafar2624 wonderful information. Thank you . Yea I know about Prussian. I love it cause it's a historical hue ( van Gogh loved this color ) but don't trust it in pro work . I notice mission gold has another burnt sienna that has 3 pigments !! Including the red that's fugitive. I really only recommend this pure pigment set. However the quality is phenomenal. The pigment strength is right up there with them Graham and they glaze incredibly well. I do wish they offered more single pigment shades like even their raw sienna , raw umber , burnt umber and burnt sienna #1 are all mixtures sometimes triple pigment. I .... Have a hard time understanding that one lol 😂
