    I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ this set of pure pigment paints. I replaced their burnt sienna and yellow ochre with Daniel Smith only because I like and know them well. I also threw in Payne's Grey and Mineral Violet from M Graham and Quin Gold and Potters Pink from Schmincke. I have them all in the bulletproof palette from Mijello which I also love.

      I can't believe how good these are. I've had them about 2 months now and I don't wanna give away the full review but i love them ! I've completed 2 paintings with them so far . I will be adding M grahams sap green to this set once I'm done with the review ( only wanna stick with mission golds for the demo ) . I will say I struggle with mixing natural greens since everything is so vibrant and it's hard to mix mud . These would be great for painting glass or other vibrant , transparent subjects . I'm thinking of getting a second set as a back up but I have so much paint to go through I feel greedy lol .

    Mission Gold doesn’t use ox gall in their paints which explains the lack of flow.

    • @nicolemartinart5819
      @nicolemartinart5819  Před rokem

      I agree with you, I like adding synthetic ox gall for certain effects but in general, it's nice to have a lower flow paint for detailed work. I'm glad it's different from other paints I already own. It makes them unique in my collection. I love these paints. If I had to rate them, 9 out of 10 stars.

    Hi, i just started watercolour painting for about a year. I use Winsor and Newton Cotman when i first started, then i switched to Daniel Smith (which i love). I paint florals and after watching your vidoes on Mijello watercolours, i plan to buy them. I did some price comparison and found Mijello very affordable, compared to Daniel Smith. Do these Mijello pure pigment colours work well with florals? Thank you.

    • @nicolemartinart5819
      @nicolemartinart5819  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi there 👋
      Excellent question. Yes I think they would be great for floral paintings but I do advise that you practice with them first before jumping right in on a full painting. Only because these watercolors are extremely pigmented, more so than Daniel Smith, and they have very vibrant colors. If you like to work in more pastel tones and light florals, you may find it a bit challenging to control the pigment load at first. Just remember to use a light touch and they will last you practically forever. Good luck 😊

    I just got the 34 set, so not pure pigment but it was fine for me. I noticed the paints don't really fully dry. Have you noticed a similar thing with these?

    • @nicolemartinart5819
      @nicolemartinart5819  Před rokem +1

      Yes. That is because these are a honey-based paint. Meaning that the formulation contains honey. Honey is a humectant that will grab the moisture from the air and hold it into your pants so that they remain in a semi moist state. Personally I like this quality about a paint because it's definitely gentler on your brushes since the paint just melts under the touch of a damp brush and it's much easier to get larger quantities of paint from your dried color . However , that information was not listed in the brochures or marketing material that came with the paint ( or anywhere on the box ) so I was unaware of that at the time of filming. I do wish that they had listed that somewhere on the package , because while I love a paint that contains honey not everybody does. Especially if you live in a very humid climate like Singapore for example or if you like to take your paints out plein Air with you. These don't travel well in my opinion because of the honey content they won't fully set for a long time .... if ever. But they are a wonderful studio option.

      Yea and remember when blick used to carry the whole line as well ? Not sure what changed . Jerry's is expecting new stock of mission gold early next year though . I wonder if the prices will increase on amazon then. This set used to be on blick for close to $400 . Either way I'm really glad I got mine . I was considering getting a back up set since watercolor really never goes bad . But I have so much paint I don't really need it .

      There are 24 pure pigments, imagine the mixes you could create. Also, unlike everyone else, Mijello provided 24, 15ml tubes. It's a steal. I was initially looking into Paul Ruben's Artist Watercolors until I realized that it is $60.00 for 24, 5ml tubes. This is a splurge for me, I need this set to last me awhile. After all the research I did Mijello could hire me on as a spokesperson😂😂😂

      @@nicolemartinart5819 I just got them, yesterday! Oh my goodness!! So pretty and pigmented. I even got some granulation. I don't think I did a magnificent job with my swatches, but I certainly had fun. Can't wait to fill the porcelain 🎨. I am so happy that I found something that is both economical and quality. These are my first professional watercolor paints, yes I am still learning but I consider these to be a sound investment. I also invested in some 100% cotton watercolor blocks. I went with New York City Art Supply, an it was only a couple of dollars more than the Canson XL cellulose pads. The difference is night and day. I still plan to use up my cellulose pads with the rest of my Cotman paints though. Waste not want not!
