  • NutriBullet - How to take apart a Nutribullet. We had to disassemble our Nutribullet in order to clean it. Think of this video as a Nutribullet Manual that will walk you step by step in taking it apart in order to clean it.

Thanks for creating this; I disassembled my blender to clean it and it didn't seem that complicated as I was taking it apart, so I didn't really "make note of" what parts went where, where screws went, etc. By the time I'd fully cleaned it and let it air dry sufficiently I'd forgotten most of how it went together, so this video saved me the cost of a new blender!

Minor problems, a spring that wouldn't spring, and a need for some cleaning of gunk, would have ended the life of my Nutribullet if this video weren't available to us. My husband absolutely needed to see it done. He would have missed a couple of things by himself. And the second video was necessary. You have done us a great service. Many thanks. It works!

While it's disassembled, great opportunity to add a drop of oil to each of the two motor sleeve bearings. Never use WD40 or 3n1. Use sewing machine oil, 3n1 electric motor oil, or Zoom Spout Turbine Oil.

THANK YOU!! Totally saved me $100. My innerds were a little different in configuration, but basically the same idea. To people with a different model, I recommend snapping a few photos along the way to ensure you put it back together properly.

Thanks so much for taking the time to put this video together. I thought out nutribullet was dead as it was performing intermittently. After taking it apart I found it was full of gunk so I cleaned it thoroughly and now I have a brand new nutribullet...without spending a dime. Thanks!!

Bravo! My series 900 was a bit different internally as I dismantled it, but the guidance your video showed me enough to get the base unit apart and to clean the absolutely enormous amount of gunk that was gumming up the activators.
    Thanks again!

Anyone following these instructions you should note there are several different builds of the Nutri bullet. I have two, both different than the one shown in the video, and different between the two.
They're all basically the same in many regards. Some are easier than others to disassemble as well as put back together. There are certain steps that differ between each build design.
My suggestion would be to follow this video instruction as a general guidance. Your model may differ.
Some have loose trigger mechanisms, partially loose mechanisms or completely contained trigger mechanisms.
Some have a shroud over the motor assembly affixed to the bottom inner area.
All have a drain which you might want to clean out and must line up through out each body part.
I just cleaned my two. It certainly does help indeed. Both run like a champ again.
Good luck with yours, which ever build design you have.
    cheers...

9 years later from when you posted, this is still useful! My NB is more recent. The white parts that flip down are now just one long piece with the spring on top, so I had to undo screws at the top of each in order to remove them. I thought I was being really careful, but stuff got into those crevices and it wouldn't push down. I can now clean it all up and put it back together. This got me started. Thanks much!

ha! Forget this video. Like most others my shell did not twist off like in the video. Mine was still under warranty so I decided to call customer service. Got though to someone in less than 3 minutes at 7pm on a Tuesday. Explained the problem, said I also broke the tabs on my small cup, which I did trying to get this sticking machine to work. They said they would ship me a new cup and base, just had to pay $ shipping. No problem!

  • @q7wasp7
    @q7wasp7 Před 9 lety +4

I plug my NB into a switchable outlet. I put the cup/blade into the base then turn the switch on - then turn it off - then remove the cup/blade from the base. Saves wear and tear on the plastic blade socket in the base.
Tip: to prevent leaking, watch the top when unit is running. If the liquid reaches the top - you put too much stuff inside. There should always be air space in the top when it's running so the air can compress - because liquid doesn't compress when it expands so it blows-out through the blade bearing into the base ruining the blade bearing from the contamination. If you divide your stuff in half and blend each half in turn - then pour it together when you're done your unit will last way longer. Mine lasted two years before needing a new blade unit. Cheers.

I had this same issue and the activators were sticking. My last effort before disassembling the unit was to use a 10% vinegar solution with a toothbrush to scrub all around the activators and get some of the solution down. It worked great and the activators work perfectly now. It took all of two minutes.

I too have a different spring mechanism - same as the others commenting on the difference. Thus, after nearly breaking my wrists trying to unscrew the top, after reading comments, I realized I needed to pop it off. I now have to put it back together, and hope not to have the issues one user had with lack of engagement with the springs. Lets just hope it doesn't leak again.

This was incredibly helpful -- thanks so much. Our formerly gunk-covered Bullet (my stupid fault.... lid wasn't on tight enough) is now LITERALLY like-new-again!
I'd just add one suggestion for later models. On ours those 3 white plastic strips that activate the on/off switch and which kinda fell apart on you are now each held in place by a small block and 2 screws. And since our 3 had quite a bit of goo trapped behind them that would most likely have glued them immovably in place when it dried, I added one more step to your process by removing the 3 blocks, 6 screws, and 3 strips so that I could thoroughly clean everything with warm water and a sponge before allowing everything to dry, and then re-assembling the unit.
I'd also suggest keeping the disassembled parts + screws together and in strict order of progression, so that steps 1, 2, 3, 4.... can be easily repeated in reverse order to avoid any later confusion. Though there's always your no doubt equally helpful Part 2 if that fails. Nicely done, mechanic and camerawoman both!

I could not twist or pull gray lip off 2nd motor encasement, so I submerged the activators upside down in 1.5" hot tap water (in shallow bowl) for about 30 seconds, and second encasement slid right off. I kept submerging the unit (top only, did not get motor components wet) and pressed on the white activators until they were completely loose. Wiped up all the water and reassembled. Works like new. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.

Very helpful video. I had to take ours apart because one of the 3 white tabs wouldn't depress. It was gummed up inside from not having the cover screwed all the way down the first time used. It's a newer model than in the video, and the inside design is somewhat different, which is important to know if you're going to take one of these apart; proceed with caution. Anyway, I cleaned the gunk off the tabs and it works great now; would not have attempted it without watching the video.

The audio was excellent and very informative. I have an issue with the way that the electric chord malfunctions in the one I have. I expect the switch is faulty somehow.
The juicer needs to be screwed on tightly or it will flood the juicer. The gasket fits in and occasionally needs to be removed for cleaning, it just presses back into the slots in the base.

  • @Allrone
    @Allrone Před 11 lety +5

Mine is the snap in version too. It appears that there was a little glue applied around the outside inner edge of the ring, making it very difficult to release the tabs and snap it off. I actually had to slip a small thin knife up under the outer gap between ring and housing to cut glued or fused plastic to release part of it. Doing all this does leave the plastic with pry marks, so be very careful how you do it. Definitely not made to come apart.
    Poor design, when can't clean.

Think I'll pass on dismantling!! I can see me putting it back! Good to see that the liquid doesn't run into the motor, which is what I was concerned about. The only time I've had it leak is when I've pulsed and the unit locked on ... think it's easy to unscrew marginally which is just enough for liquid to seep out. Well done all you folk who put theirs together without leaving any bits LOL

Had to pry mine also, but just so you know, those white plastic tabs aren't supposed to break. They can, and most likely will, but it's much easier to reassemble if they're one whole piece, especially with the model I had since there were no plastic guides to slip them in. I had to slip their springs inside the guides on the gray base and then drop the whole thing over the motor. Then when it was down, I had to twist the base so the white tabs ended up under the switches to activate the motor.

Just some info on NutriBulletRx. The Rx has 2 drain holes at the top that go through a drain canal. The canal comes out between the outside of the motor housing and the inside of the thin aluminum decorative outer housing where "NutibulletRx" is printed. The drain canal ends on the bottom side of the NutriBulletRx where it comes out onto the counter. It appears the last piece of the drain canal is not all that liquid tight. The bottom gray piece that houses the power button, soup button & has the last part of the drain canal molded into it doesn't connect to the rest of the drain canal liquid tight. Some liquid spread around on the bottom piece of plastic that has the fan vent holes and of course the fan blew the liquid all over the counter because I didn't turn it off until I was done with it. It gave the appearance that the liquid had drained straight through the motor housing and out the fan exhaust at bottom but actually the liquid DID NOT go into the motor.

    @georgedishman Před 4 lety +1

This was very useful, thank you for publishing it. However, the bit where it says to twist one way, then the other which may not be correct depending on the model. On mine, the cover should just lift off easily, there is no catch requiring rotation. The white slides operating the switches are also a single piece in mine, not two halves as shown.
Another comment below from a few years ago says "It appears that there was a little glue applied around the outside inner edge of the ring, ...", that too is incorrect. What appears to be glue (and give the scary click on the video when the cover was twisted) in my case was dried fruit juice. Just a tiny amount down the switch slides, when the moisture dries out, will glue the slide to the case also stopping the switch working. Another video suggests using WD40 down the slides rather than opening the case. That will work for a while but may leave a smell of the oil for some time, a good clean is the safer and more permanent solution.
The best way to release a stuck cover is to stand the Bullet upside down in a wide saucepan then slowly add warm, soapy water to a depth of 3cm. Don't go above this, you don't want water getting above the seals and into the motor bearings!
Leave for an hour (or overnight) and the dried contaminant should soften enough to release the cover. Try gentle twisting as suggested but also try a straight lift. If not, try the hint of putting WD40 down the switch slides and, with the Bullet upside down on a paper towel, run some round the lip too. If you do that, you'll need to clean out the oil once you get the case open to avoid the smell.

on the model where the silver rim does not screw off, the grooves holding it to the dark grey plastic are located towards the very top of the rim, facing outward (think of the small letter "r") on the dark grey plastic. You have to find a way to pry it out. I suggest you lay it on the side and use a screw driver or those painting metal/plastic paddles.

Having a problem removing one of the screws under the rubber tabs mentioned at 3:20. Seems like the screw hole is stripped and the screw just keeps rotating, but the screw won’t come out. It’s frustrating because that doesn’t allow me to twist and remove the inner casing.

In the final step mine did not twist off, had to snap off (glued on). If yours is like this you may reconsider taking apart. I had to use PC-11 to glue to get it back together. Also the white-springs tabs are different. You will need to make sure that two of the three (one is pointless) are under the green metal parts. They are what press down to turn on motor. If they are not in place your bullet won't work. Glue is drying now, I hope it worked or its broken forever. Be advised!

How do you clean the inside of the plastic clear circle in the middle of the base? That has liquid in it too!

The top wouldn't twist, it came off with me prying it straight up. There is no indication on the top of the blender or top trim that it twists. No threads indicating it screws off. I gave it a couple good taps with my straight edge crowbar (it's a tiny one), and it came right off.

To twist it off, is a lot of work, so what I did is use a towel or rag, and use your fingertips to get the top out, by pulling it out,you have to work with it and it will easily come out.

Can you remove the base gear to clean under there??

  • @jsnhrv

You can twist the round rubber part off to clean under there. It's threaded on.
Just grip with vise grips, hold the blade with a towel so you dont cut your hand and unscrew the rubber part with the notches in it.Comes right off.And a lot of shit gets caught under there.Clean it!

My Nutribullet cup with blades attached will not drop down into the blending mechanism. It stops about an inch above, so doesn't get close the the white activator switches. What is it hitting? How can I fix this?

Hopefully nobody broke theirs trying to twist it off. I went ahead and added some annotations to the video directing a viewer to all of your comments. Thanks for the input!

Great video, have pulled it apart and cleaned it (gross). The only thing I am having trouble with is the last 3 screws inside where the clear spinner wheel is. Can't get them out at all and it is quite dirty. Any ideas. Not sure if the screws are stripped?

■■ How to safely take apart a NUTRABULLET RX 1700 and put it back together.
    I surely need to know.....
It is not the same as this bullet. It has a couple more wires and buttons that make me nervous.
I did an oops...was making a soup and dummy me used the wrong lid. Heat made it exit out the bottom and down inside. It works but I can hear the dried soup ... I removed bottom and cleaned that up, but I'm not sure which screws to remove to pull off outer shell. I won't try using it til its cleaned out!
I'm hoping you know about the RX 1700. Thanks for your video...it helped me with my first nutrabullet - I thought was toast-that works now and has been my backup til this one is figured out and back in service!

I have a different model with no screws at all. I spilled milk in it. Now there are fruit flies living inside it. No matter what I do they won't go away. I poured bleach in there and got shocked too. I cannot take it apart. What to do?
