It sounds like HP just went and rearranged the internals of a server rack to fit into a desktop form factor. As far as I'm aware, all the hardware you listed is server hardware.

All the pro level workstations are built like this. This one obviously takes it to another level. I've had all the models from z620 through the G4 (model before this). I don't have that kinda money, I wait until they are dumped on the used market. No better bang for the buck in computing for most people.

7:39 Why not just adjust the work area bar in Premiere Pro to the time you want to preview? That way you don't have to render the entire sequence, just the part that you want to preview and tweak, if needed.

I don't think this is the fastest computer in the world but in this test it sure beats the Intel 13900K.
Just so you are aware there is no such thing as an Intel Xeon W-3400 processor. (1:37)
I think what you meant to say is Intel Xeon W-3400 family, which has 7 processors available.
For reference I have listed a couple from high to low based on price.
The Intel Xeon w9-3495X has 56 cores/112 threads with a base frequency of 1.8Ghz and max frequency of 4.8Ghz including 105Mb L3 Cache.
The Intel Xeon w5-3425 has 12 cores/24 threads with a base frequency of 3.2Ghz and max frequency of 4.6Ghz including 30Mb L3 Cache.
(the latter being 80% less in price)
I would be interested to know what the configuration was of this test system that HP sent you.

HP has an online configuration tool available for the Z8 to customize your build and has a multitude of options to pick from.
At the time of writing this comment I do not see any way of selecting 4 x NVIDIA RTX A6000 GPU's however.
I also did not see any of the 3400 family Intel processors available to pick from.
(My thinking here is they are waiting for inventory as they have just been released)

I indeed meant the 3400 family, my bad. This system had the Intel Xeon w9-3495X. They are currently taking pre-orders as the system isn't available yet. (I think it's later this month).

I am currently planning to upgrade from my Mac Pro 2013 and have narrowed down my options to either a second-hand Z8 G4 workstation or a new Z8 G5 workstation.
When solely considering the cost-effectiveness of each option, could anyone provide insight as to whether the second-hand Z8 G4 workstation (roughly half the price of the G5) would offer comparable value for the money compared to a new Z8 G5?

I would say that's wasn't not fair competition.
Because - 24 core i9 vs 56 core xeon
48*4 = 192GB Vram.
I'm sure if you use 2 or 4 rtx4090 it can easily beat that z8 workstation in gpu based tasks.

ECC, You guys should have mentioned that in detail, cause Z8 have processor, graphics and RAM all are with ECC. Which never fails on heavy load like i series processor and components. People often confused what's different with ECC and non ECC systems😀

The problem here is that Adobe have truly rubbish programming, so there will be an artificial bottleneck in performance and any minor difference between systems will make a much bigger impact because of this.
For $30k (especially USD,. even for $30k AUD) it should have 2-4 cpus (allowing for true parallelism), each of which should be capable of up to 512GB-1TB RAM. Then 4-6 GPU slots, PCI 5 will not make a huge difference here except in that it provides more lanes (as graphics cards are not using the pci5 bandwidth yet), so the additional cards will still run at a higher overall rate (this is dependant on the lanes the cpu provides and mb supports though)
For the animation test you should render out the whole animation sequence as the extra ram on the graphics cards will make a bit more of a difference and the capability of the a6000 in vertex animation should be much higher, this will allow the whole animation to be rendered out possibly faster than a frame to frame comparison.
Maybe take a look at some of the stuff SuperMicro does (although again I doubt you will much of a performance boost out of adobe products).
