This week I’m going to attempt something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage to start! A Dirndl: A traditional Bavarian dress for festivities like the Oktoberfest!
I ended up making such a versatile pattern that I will put out for you guys once the dress is done.

Dirndls are wonderfully flattering garments. Most women look so pretty wearing one.
And I love the fabric you chose. It's just unusual enough, to look a little 'extra', but not so much, that it would be distracting.

I worked a long time for a Bavarian Trachtenstore named GUKLER in Bad Reichenhall ( traditional clothing store ) and stitched all the design by hand on those pants and Jackets for men and woman…Did those for a view actors from Salzburg ( Salisbury)made out of mountain goat leather and deer leather

The bodice is so feminine and elegant with the trim it's even more so! I love it with the under blouse with the open shoulders - is that what the final underblouse will look like because it's super pretty! Great tutorial as usual and I'm looking forward to the final dress. I couldn't really catch how you pronounce it - and I'm curious about that - but it's a winner however you say it!

Hello, thank you for your pattern ! I bought it yesterday and can't wait to start ! Just a little question about the bodice pattern : I saw 2 pieces for the middle front, one says "facing, front + interfacing cut 2X" and another one with the details of buttons, saying "front + interfacing cut 2X". What's the difference between both ? My english is not 100% efficient haha, maybe it's the reason... Thanks for your help !

Do you recommend leaving both sideseams open so the shell an the lining or only the sideseams of the outer fabric?
You need both to be open! Otherwise it doesn’t work👍🏻

A Dirndl is bavaryan and not german, there are many german "Trachten" and not only "Dirndl und Lederhosen" and in uper Bavarya are 6 versions of the Trachten. Miesbacher, Werdenfelser, Inntaler, Chiemgauer, Berchtesgadener and Isarwinkler Tracht and all look diferent. And ther are not for festivities like Oktoberfest, there are a tradion and older as the Oktoberfest.
To be more precise is a mishmash of different styles from Bavaria and sourrounding countries that got thrown into a single dress at the very end of the 19th century and 20th century; so yea, it is indeed german

Dirndl is rather bavarian/austrian than german.
A Drindl is NOT traditional German!!! It´s traditional Bavaria and that´s surely not even close to Germany. So please stop making punchline that wrong! Greating from a German.
