spoiler alert Bruises on the heroine's neck appear to indicate radiation damage. However, director Yamazaki says he couldn't let the heroine die. Therefore, they probably created a scenario in which she was infected with Godzilla cells, gained her regenerative ability, and survived. That's what makes this a Godzilla movie.
Word…I think nuclear material from Godzilla’s blast simultaneously killed her, but is also allowing her to regenerate and live, surviving the blast. I think she is not impregnated by Godzilla, but now has a tether to Godzilla like a psychic connection to the monster.
My son and I watched it last night, and the hype is spot on! It was undoubtedly the best Godzilla movie and out right best movie in many years. Excellent character development and the big G was outright terrifying. He actually went out of the way to kill as many humans as possible.
It wasn't that good. I think it's ridiculous nobody was speaking American and can only guess they made it foreign to try and save money because of the budget cuts. Personally I found it very distracting, unrealistic and have no idea how this fits in with the other films. Hopefully the next one gets a bigger budget and we can get back to everybody speaking properly
I have a couple of theories: 1) Noriko may have been mutated by Godzilla’s blast and will have a telepathic connection to the regenerated Godzilla and will have regenerative powers of her own. 2) she is a Shobijin (fairy) living as a human and Mothra will appear in the sequel.
Nahh… now it’s going back to Hollywood all over again if that’s the case. I like the realism of the movie and not any of these powers that the humans may have.
These were my thoughts exactly! While I am totally satisfied if the story ends with this movie and leaving what happens next up to the imagination, I think that a sequel with this same crew and this line of storytelling would be awesome!
Minami Hamabe indicated in the same publication that the film may be the start of an entirely new series of Godzilla films, noting "If there is a next series, I might be the one stepping on and crushing people".

Godzilla has had regeneration powers for a very long time now. There have been a few Godzilla movies that revolved around his regenerative cells/abilities. In one movie the only thing that survived was his heart that sank to the ocean floor and started to beat again.

And dad told me last night, *Despite the movie being in black & white, it was absolutely incredible!* He loved it, definitely agreed with me that Godzilla Minus One is THE number 1 Godzilla movie ever! I loved both the colored version & the Minus Color version.
Just came out the movie . This was incredible. I’m only really familiar with Godzilla from the 98, the recent monster universe and, GvK. This movie felt so different, I could imagine this is how the older audience viewed the films. I was team Godzilla Vs kong but he is an asshole. Haven’t the Japanese suffered enough! Might be switching my allegiance lol
I think its symbolic that the war for Shikishima isn't over and its spreading to those close to him. I think a lot of the film is an allegory for PTSD. Or it just could be the directors way of teasing the posibility of giving us a sequel. which if true, I dont think there is anyone who watched the film would be against it.
When you make thumbnail about the ending, just go straight to it. No need to babbling explaining THE WHOLE STORY TO US. You drag it for 4 mins. Waste of time.
considering the big G got mutated from the nuke in 1946, operation crossroads was that event that it happened that year cause it's the very thing that made him what he is now, in the original, he appeared in 1954, which is 9 or 8 years after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and since Operation Crossroads was in 46, the day he got exposed to the nuke's radiation and mutated, he arrived 8 years later, yet in this reboot, he arrived 2 years later, that seems like a premature arrival compared to the original, yet I was under the impression someone woke him up 2 years early when I went to see it.
Unless no one noticed, the woman which name I forgot has a mark on her neck that moves, that's godzilla's cells or part of their body or something which means she was marked by him. My theory is that's the reason why Godzilla could still regenerate and if 2014 is follow up then maybe that's why Godzillas personaity changed to more caring and protecting? Just a theory.
hmmm,... I wonder if you understand the movie at all ... 「Shikishima」is a really ancient name for the country for Japan,... when people are crying his name they are literally screaming " Japan! Japan! " ... after the Pacific War so many people created new families from strangers,... and the ending is so sad, you can see the scar on Hamebe Minami's neck and understand that she is going to die ...
According to the film's director Yamazaki, the bruise on Noriko's (Minami's) neck is similar to the cursed bruise on Ashitaka, the main character in the animated film "Princess Mononoke," where instead of strengthening her body, the curse engulfs her entire body and she loses her life. So, I am optimistic about the bruise, because Ashitaka has succeeded in breaking the curse. According to Minami's interview, the birthmark was not originally in the script, but was hastily added on the day of shooting this scene at the discretion of director Yamazaki. Perhaps Director Yamazaki had the inspiration for the sequel. I am Japanese and this is a machine translation by DeepL.
IF Godzilla were to survive the attack given the ending scene, I just hope that Goji comes back BIGGER (just like Legendary Goji's size, if not Shin Godzilla's size) and more difficult to kill (Make it immune to missles and whatsoever, cuz the ending was kinda meh.)
when I watched Godzilla monsterverse I only wanted to see the monster scenes, because I wasn't interested in the bullshit of the actors in that movie, but when I watched Minus One I liked both of them. the drama they presented was very interesting, especially as Noriko was very beautiful and kind to her foster children, I was quite surprised they "killed" her in the middle of the film, but I was very happy that she was finally safe at the end of the film. film. Was it a coincidence or was Noriko already covered in Godzila's sweat while in the water after getting off the train? that makes her have a little self-healing ability?
No, she just survived a blast that was far away from the initial blast zone, but what could still be fatal. Koichi was just depressed and angry that he thought she was dead immediately but she was probably 20 feet away in rubble, which is why his sacrifice was selfish and why he balled at the end because he almost had another regret.
If the next movie listens to the fans it will be subpar or mediocre at best...Norkio scar is g-cells and she will mutate...have you people learned nothing from bad MCU films? She survived, just like people can survive land mines, grenades, IEDs and earthquakes. It was a HAPPY ending and closed both their tales, leave it be. Focus on Godzilla, have Noriko and Koichi as partners with Akiko being their main weakness of fearing for her safety and bring in another monster. K.I.S.S.

Saw this last night. First, good movie but not great. Little too much with the pilot and his live in woman and child. Second, sorry but Godzilla himself sucked. I hate what they have done to Godzilla. Since this was pre-Tokyo Godzilla, it should have looked like the original and not one with such a spikey back with pop out spikes.
