- 4 years ago, we restored this EXACT same pair of shoes! They were in AWFUL shape at the time, but we were able to refurbish them and give them more life. Now, the same pair of shoes are back in our shop, and they are in worse shape than before. In this restoration, we completely take apart this pair of John Lobbs and restore them completely.

Thanks for watching! Here's the link to our first time restoring these shoes...czcams.com/video/HyIs8uxh-gQ/video.htmlsi=2rDOtcntTVPFOe-m
Therein lies the difference between being basic repairmen and artisan craftsmen. I am now 74 and my father taught me to work with leather when I was 12. Though I am certainly not a cobbler, I understand some of the intricacies of your craft. The first video with these John Lobb shoes was excellent. But this video demonstrates that your skills have sharpened while giving us a much better picture of the high level of those skills. Hats off to you gents for you are truly some of the best there is. BTW, since subscribing to your channel, I have found many pairs of high quality shoes at thrifts shops which I refurbished for both myself and others using skills gathered from your channel. Thank you and please continue with the great content.
Thanks so much! We appreciate that. Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed our videos and have been able to find some higher quality shoes out there. Thanks for watching.
What in the World does the owner do in those shoes, shovel gravel and pour & finish concrete? WTH?
Walking to work in an urban area daily from public transportation would do it. They just need to get them resoled more than once every four years. 😂
I’m picturing a Fred Flintstone car where he is breaking by sliding his feet on the ground.
@@patriciahunter1566 I wore through a sole in a pair of new shoes on one 10 day trip to Vegas. It's not as hard as some people are making it. 😀
@@patriciahunter1566 Great Comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have timberland boots that I worked construction and snow removal with .. and they aren’t as hammered as those were
At what point do you finally say, “time to buy another pair of shoes - there’s nothing left to save”. This guy is determined to keep these shoes forever!!!
His determination to save those shoes, and clearly the money which he is spending to do so, should be matched with a little tender loving care on his end to ensure that such determination and money need not be spent in the first place!
Holy smokes! These shoes look like the Allen Edmonds my husband wore. John Lobb are bespoke and cost $$$$$!
Shoe of Theseus
@@philtravis2093 Yeah, just about.
I'm going to show this to my shoe collection. Maybe then they will appreciate me ?
Another excellent job by two brothers who care about true craftmanship.
You are teaching the next generation about pride in what you do.
😁 Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching.
Gotta keep your shoes in line? lol
You guys should really make your own shoe line. This is wild!
They make leather sandals. Does that count?
The craftsmanship that went into this restoration is top notch and so respectful of the brand. I went back to watch the original video for these shoes and discovered that the owner had them re-soled to pass on to his son. I feel better knowing a different person is responsible for such poor treatment of these shoes since the first restoration. Quality work guys!
Based on how much of these shoes have been replaced I think we're getting into "ship of theseus" territory.

come here to leave the same comment.
high five to educated bro.
I just learned about it inspired by your comment. I thought it seems more like a rebuild than a restoration. Though maybe the owner would be honored by knowing he walks on an old philosphical paradox on a daily basis.
The owner can really destroy shoes, that's pretty clear. Wonder if we will see this pair in another four years. Thanks for the video, a pleasure to watch.
I think we’ve had our fill of these for a while. :)
yeah, 4 years ;)@@TrentonHeath
The owner of these shoes must really LOVE them to have them basically rebuilt not once but twice!
If any makeover is worth a million+ views, it MUST be this one. Great job as always.
I just got my redwings back from you guys this past week. I've been avoiding wearing them to work because they just look so good now. I've enjoyed your videos. But watching you guys recreate an entire shoe is so impressive. This video here has me respecting your skills to a whole new level. Great job
Thanks so much! We really appreciate you watching and for your business. Get those Red Wings back out there and just send them back when they wear out again. 😉👍 Glad you like them.
You both are way too good and nice to this person. You are not that busy where you wait to fix them after you wore out the soles. You send this video to John Lobb shoes....They would be amazed. Another nice job done..
Thanks
i think the owner needs to have more than one pair of shoes on hand .
He's probably out on the ranch, hardening the callouses on his feet, as we speak. Legend has it these shoes belong to a descendant of Fred Flintstone.
Facts
@@bryanjones9356 Omg! You aren't wrong. 😂😂😂😂
Fantastic video! Easily earns a Top-5 ranking in both major polls.
Ayyyy the mustache is back!!!! Keep rocking the stache man, it fits u well!!!
Amazing! Awesome job fellas!
Fabulous job guys. Looking forward to seeing what they look like in another four years. 😮😮
Wow. Proper craftsmanship. Amazing to watch.
Such a sterling job done, gentlemen! I am deeply impressed…
You guys are truly artists! Love watching you transform old badly worn shoes to better than new condition! Keep up the good work! 👏
Amazing work, I love watching you guys work magic on shoes. Truly a lost art. great job!!!
Fantastic work! Love watching your video’s
Guy's, It looks like everyone including me is delighted that you have a CZcams channel, it's an incredible showcase of your business & the skills you have fine tuned to make your business a success. Congratulations! This one was particularly mesmerizing.
They're looking damn good! 🤩
Great job on a piece of history for this channel! 👍😁👍
Nice job boys!
Beautiful work from you two, as always. It’s a shame that the wearer doesn’t appear to value and care for such fine craftsmanship.
Those are amazing!!!
Respect to the owner of the shoes for actually wearing/using them and not just using it for dress up.
Idk if it’s just me, but I feel a certain way when I wear shoes that were made the same way my great grandfather’s shoes were. Some sort of connection.
Amazing work chaps. I think you have both gone beyond cobbling with this job! 😮
I love watching you guys makeover shoes. This is truly a lost art. Our local small town cobbler/bootmaker lost his shop to a fire. He decided to just retire as no one wanted to take over for him. How do you get someone interested in this intricate art form? I would say by showing them your videos! Such great work.
hats off. this is serious skills!
This is great! Thank you guys for the amazing content.
You guys are true craftsman. I can't believe the condition of those shoes. I hope their heirlooms considering the amount of work and the cost involved.
You guys are giving that guy bad habbits! He will never take care of his shoes when he knows he can defend on y'all. Great job guys!
Again, another banger job men.
I remember this from way back and thought, 'Yess, they're finally getting noticed'.
Keep up the passion and good work!
It's crazy to see how you can bring a pair of shoes back to life even when they look like they were dug up out of the trash. Loved the video!!!
Love this one, I'm by no means a cobbler. But enjoy your channel and helps me relax! My favorite is deconstruction and rebuild, plus upper care!!! Semi long time viewer! Keep these videos coming!
Phenomenal craftsmanship! You gentleman produced the same shoe but I would say it is just as good as a John Lobb. You deserve a million views and more.
Another fantastic refurbishment of a ruined pair of good shoes, love watching your work
Great job
This is truely amazing craftsmanship. Is this something you guys would normally do or would these normally be not worth saving?
cobbler maestros have done it again! nothing beats a handcrafted shoe!
Geezus, the owner must be a door-to-door salesman who spends his evenings at his favorite pastime, ballroom dancing. The guys completely replaced about 90% of the shoe! LMAO.
Wow! Amazing skills in bringing the Lobbs back to life again. They’re even much better than the first time four years ago!!
Thanks so much! It took a lot of work…again. :)
Doing this shows me you guys could start making your own shoes (custom) pretty kewl
As always, amazing job guys.
Obvious this guys loves this pair of shoes ... makes ya kinda wonder if he's been barefoot while you gents work yer magic!!! : ) Another re-crafting ... an art deserving of recognition and this guy is a repeat customer for a reason!!! Appreciation all the way around fellas --- AWESOME!!!! Be Safe
As always, your restoration work is phenomenal. How on earth do you make shoes look like that in 4 years.
I am fortunate to own two pairs of Salvatore Ferragamo’s handed down from my father bought in the 1970’s.
Apart from a couple of resoles they look very neat and well taken care of, they do not look like they have been through the trenches.
This reminds me of a joke from Only Fools and Horses. Trigger (a character) says "I've had the same broom for 20 years, its only had 17 new broom heads and 14 new handles". Lol Hello from the UK keep up the great work lads
Those shoes are just stunning! Well done. 👏👏👏👏
Ship of Theseus... Impressive!!!
Proper care of shoes is very important for us men, never wear the same shoe on a daily basis. Having a rotation, using shoe trees, and polishing will keep our footwear lasting for years. Trenton & Heath, thank you for this video, you two are awesome!
Thanks so much! You’re absolutely correct.
@@TrentonHeath You’ve done videos on maintenance, have you done a video commenting on proper shoe care as mentioned by this gentleman?
AWESOME i love this stuff
These shoes were a wreck, but you guys pulled it together. Impressive result, this customer will be satisfied and proud. Nice work gentleman, first class.
Thanks! We appreciate you watching.
You guys said exactly what I was thinking. These are basically the Shoes of Theses.
Every step I was like “you’re doing WHAT else??” I loved this video. It’s not like I’m trying to become a cobbler but I could watch this all day.
Great job guys!!
This is the first time that I have observed you guys replacing any portion of the uppers in your videos. These shoes are better than new in my opinion, great job.
Thanks! We appreciate you watching.
Great work there! Yes, I was thinking, would it be about as quick and easy if he'd said, make me a whole new pair of shoes ☺
Best redo yet. Remarkable.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
I would love to know for what purpose he uses his shoes for, that’s not a normal wear and tear.
the guy is obviously fat
4 years of sidewalks, 5 days a week? I think they might be that worn. Mine are beat up and I only wear them to weddings and funerals. Lol
I was saying the same thing ????
These shoes are never gonna die!
I love how you guys didn't shy away from this project, I wonder if another cobbler would have turned this guy away, anyway great job guys!!!
Great Job Gentlemen!!!
Excellent video guys! Hoping someday you will have your own brand of shoes.
I still can't get over the revelation that hot cork doesn't smell like freshly baked cookies. 😂
I was thinking Granola lol
Unbelievable job! You guys made some new shoes right there. The only thing left from the old shoes was the back. Everything else is new.
Love the toe shine finish army memories
I watched this on a break at work, but I couldn't comment then. So here it is. Good video.
Wow, you Gents always amaze me with your talents. Fantastic video as always. Have a great weekend.
Thanks! We really appreciate you watching. Have a great weekend as well.
that was incredible work. expensive shoes. love shoes but i can't wear the fancy stuff anymore due to foot issues. in younger days i had lots of shoes. first time watching. i just can't believe the craftmanship. top notch - A1.
Shoe looks outstanding , thanks
As a fatboi myself, I know the pain of rapidly dissolving soles.
As a person who worked in a leather shop in my youth I love how you pay so much attention to detail. Keep up the good work!
before i started watching you breaking down the upper.. i thought to my self this is a shoe rebuild , but but now at 05:28 i'm thinking this is a shoe build this is impressive.. i have nothing to do with shoe repair i'm a it nurd only thing i build is mechanical keyboards .. hahha .. you guys are taking it to a whole new level.. Most impressive.. All the best for the new year guys happy and healthy 2024.. greetings from The Netherlands..
Amazing work guys
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching.
Beautiful!
AMAZING job guys! Comments for the algorithm. Hope this hits TWO MILLION!
Good 👍 job
Beautiful work on bringing back this pair of shoes, again! What in the world is this person doing to cause that kind of wear in a shoe in just 4 years?
Reminds me of the guy that owned Davey Crockette's personal tomahawk, it had the handle replaced 3 times and the steel head only once.
Love your videos, Trenton &Heath. It's amazing what you can do with what appears to be a destroyed pair of shoes. I can't believe this guy treats his expensive shoes as he does. Perhaps it's time for him to switch to some work boots? How can someone wear out shoes like that?
Fantastisc!!
Great video, this might be a unusual comment, but I am amazed at how steady your hands are. Doing all that fine work with the knives, needles and awls is to me, simply fantastic. If I tried something like that repair, my hands would look like they got stuck in a meat grinder. Great job looking forward to the next video
Haha…thanks! Like most things, you get used to it over time and it becomes easier. We definitely had our fair share of cuts in our earlier days.
Excellent cobbler skills applied. Enjoyed this video.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic job !!
For as much money as the owner spent on these shoes, I am in agreement that you should "get your moneys worth" .
The amount of wear these shoes had falls in to neglect. It probably pains him to have these shoes sent away.
This is artisan skill on another level, fantastic work...
Great job!!!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
That shoe owner likes getting his money’s worth.. 😂
dude loves his shoes! you should have put beefy lugs on for him 😆, great job as always guys!
GENTLEMEN: The craftsmanship and knowledge that goes into a restoration like this is amazing.
I wish I possessed the skills it takes to accomplish something as detailed as this job was. I’m certain you get a tremendous amount of satisfaction after you finish.
You did a beautiful job.
I do have a question: At what point does it become prohibitive to do such a repair like this?
Obviously these are expensive shoes (you’re not going to do this to a pair of Walmart dress shoes) but the type of repair/restoration you did here can’t be cheap.
What’s the cutoff point?
The point of no return?
Thanks- again AMAZING JOB!
LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED ‼️
This fella loves these shoes. I appreciate the loyalty to them.
He definitely gets his money worth on the new resoles. Great job on making these shoes new again gentlemen. Have a great weekend as well. Thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks so much! Have great weekend as well.
Nice work gents!
They look like double hand made shoes now. Nice soles! I need to get a pair of AE shell cordovans resoled. Paul Grangard did them on the one last for me and they are a custom make short wing that had a single thick leather sole. I took them to the edge of death swing dancing in LA and buying supplies for hats in New York.
That's brandnew them caps looks great and the outsole smooth like a butter.
My real question is how many pairs of shoes do you think he went through before he found you guys who could make a pair of shoes last 4 years cuz I'll bet you any of his other shoes do not last that long you guys are experts in this particular field that I'm so glad to watch each one of your videos please keep on putting them out there because I love to watch leather shoes real that are created by hand
It would be cool if you made a a “tool tour” video showing off and explaining the most commonly used and your favorite tools. I have so many questions about them and would love to learn more!
Your new Names are Dr Trenton and Dr Heath of the shoe world bring that pair of shoes back from the dead and bring the shoes back to life . Amazing great work guys you should not have any problem hitting a Million Views
Haha…nice ring to it. 😉 We appreciate you watching! Have a nice weekend.
