The end bit where Phil improvs was such a great moment. Incredible to listen to and now I can start my day with happy ears. Thanks Jonesy for the great interview with Phil!
And I'd be willing to give up a testicle to either do a shot of whiskey with Phil and talk about Steve* for five minutes, or to jam with Phil for five minutes and talk about Steve for hours. *Steve Clark, although I love Jonesy too.
God, could they just reissue the pre-Hysteria catalog and get it over with, it's what fans have been waiting on for a long time. All I want is High n Dry on vinyl man.
For a second then I was like, "whoaaa Phil really let himself go..." But then I realised Phil is still Phil with his stellar shape. Sorry I doubted you, Phil 😂😂😂. Rock on 🤟
The song you play around the 10 min mark reminds me of the scene from the 1978 movie " Phantasm".. When "Reggie " & the Older brother play " Sitting here at Midnight"...
love Jones' interview style, completely nonchalent. Doesn't look up or down on people, just casual. The jam at the end was also pretty cool, though I wish phil would skip out the fast bits
3 Lions on the Guitar Strap, what a lad Jonesy is! Looking fwd to him crowbarring football chat into all the bemused Yank guests during the World Cup. Triffic
Steve, it's a trip listening to you talk about yourself cause I'm listening and thinking "Wait a minute, that's how I'm living or that's what I do too." Used to be skinny and gained 40llbs, I came into some money and bought a whole bunch of things Guitars, drums, electronics things and things I guess I really didn't need. But my whole room is packed. Now if I can just get the motivation to organize all this crap....... But just wanted to say your not alone. Anyways.....
The band TESLA never made vehicles, so a car company is not confusing the market. You can have McDonald's Hardware, but no one else can use McDonald's and make food products. As said below, Nikolai Tesla is the basis for BOTH their names.
Phil sounds like a cool guy and all (he's still doing the fast picking that doesn't fit the Leppard style.) I miss Pete Willis and his melodic playing..... First 3 albums are the Best.
BadRonald1 I totally agree...they became pop muzak that was so over produced and homogenized it sounds like cotton candy shite. Pete was a great player and they lost something when they fired him....
California? Hot? Mark Twain said "The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco...". And remember the old song lyric "It never rains in California. Man, it pours."
It took years for it to happen but all the blank gen 🇬🇧 guys are now marageing punks metal heads and romantics.goths yes they all grew up with early 70s music to
Awesome interview. Like two mates chatting. The antithesis of most shitty US interviews. I like Phil's playing when he tones it down, but he seems to have a gap between slow and stupid fast.
@@no_stick_drummer2735 You're sued. High N Dry was their best album by far (Pyromanic was a close seconds). It sounded nothing like AC/DC. The critics labelled it so, not the true original fans. Stick to your power ballads from '87 onward and we'll stick to the music that had balls.
@@Danimal77 so you're telling me that you want every single band to make the exact same album every single time? Def Leppard have more balls than ACDC and iron Maiden combined, Def Leppard do what they want while iron Maiden and ACDC are people pleasers and too worried about what everyone thinks, scared to lose their paycheck and their global fan base, kind of feels like maiden and AcDc are manufactured like pop music. So have fun listening to your one genre of music while I'll be listening to other genres and I could just listen to one band to get that experience Cheers ✌✌✌
High n dry was definitely the best rocking album they had. As for them sounding like AC/DC, on that record, it would be mostly because of Mutt Lang. They should have never strayed too far from what they were, and may have done so, a little too much for the past 25 years. AC/DC's magic, was subtle. And sometimes knowing what you're going to get, is a good thing. Especially if it's AC/DC. The tension they could build, and their live performances, were admired by their colleagues, through and through. Besides, let's face it, the world would be boring without a band like them. As for Phil, I'll always think of him as the new guy. But his contributions to the pyromania album are classic and therefore, he's a legend.
You are only partly correct. Actually the Leps were formed in 1977... If you read my post again, you will note the use of "would have been". It's you needs to do your homework, mate.
Jose Luis Over produced shite muzak. .the only good song they did was Let it Rock. Never should've fired Pete Wills he was the only good one in the band
Phil's a cool dude. Some like to tear into him for this and that, but I think he's a decent fella, and he's a tasty guitar player, too. Great vibrato and some memorable parts and solos. A fine musician. Some of the more poppy Leppard material isn't to my liking, being a diehard metal guy, but the group's been together for a million years, so whatever.
The end bit where Phil improvs was such a great moment. Incredible to listen to and now I can start my day with happy ears. Thanks Jonesy for the great interview with Phil!
2 of my favourites just jamming. Sometimes CZcams just rocks. Superb and thanks for the video.
Beautiful impromptu performance! Excellent guitar playing. Great sounds!
Great interview, yeah Phil is a top bloke. Thanks for uploading and sharing
outstanding jam lads..... it out stands me the clear musical knowledge between the two.... very apparent I'd say.
Love The Jam
That was cool! Phil is a great musician!
I haven't had a drink in the past 10 minutes. Wait, gimme a second.
I haven't been sober in the past minute.
And I'd be willing to give up a testicle to either do a shot of whiskey with Phil and talk about Steve* for five minutes, or to jam with Phil for five minutes and talk about Steve for hours.
*Steve Clark, although I love Jonesy too.
I was sober for 16 years until I tried to work out that comment. Now i'm on a bottle and a half of Jim Beam a day. Thanks pal
Phil Collen - a true professional...
ben dover yeah. In the Air Tonight is my absolute favourite
Blown away by Phil’s playing... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Spot on about not liking hot weather as you get older 😂
Few people combine technique and feel as well as Phil Collen.
Really very nice two guys having a great time
Fantastic!
God, could they just reissue the pre-Hysteria catalog and get it over with, it's what fans have been waiting on for a long time. All I want is High n Dry on vinyl man.
Then buy it. I bought high n dry, on through the night and hysteria, and promania all on vinyl in 86&87. They are not hard to find.
Damn! I want to sing to that about being sober, by Gods grace 5.5 years, love Phil love DL love this show, keep it alive!!
For a second then I was like, "whoaaa Phil really let himself go..." But then I realised Phil is still Phil with his stellar shape. Sorry I doubted you, Phil 😂😂😂. Rock on 🤟
Two of my favourite guitarists together - awesome!
Phil such a dynamic player even on an acoustic
Jam at the end was bad ass
Having fun.

I had no choice but to stop drinking because of gout. If it comes down to alcohol or triggering a intense painful gout attack, I choose sobriety
A bad case of gout knocks u off ur feet . I would get mine in my big toe. Some say garlic can give u gout also. Not worth it. Adios.
Well done lads!
Its dreamy music
This was so nice. The guitar playing. I could listen all day.
It's Dave lee travis and Neil kinnock.
or oz clarke
who the fuck are thay
Y'know yer damn right
Brilliant!
great jam again...
love Jones' interview style, completely nonchalent. Doesn't look up or down on people, just casual. The jam at the end was also pretty cool, though I wish phil would skip out the fast bits
The bloke shredding when he doesn't need to ~
The rest of the jam was Brill❣💫💫💫🎸🎶🎵🎸
I don't know why people can't just sit back and enjoy two great rock legends jamming. Real rockers.... ROCK! Winging bastards moan.
he shoulda played "in the air tonight " ....n " fukd people up
3 Lions on the Guitar Strap, what a lad Jonesy is! Looking fwd to him crowbarring football chat into all the bemused Yank guests during the World Cup. Triffic
Geezer both are well andy
its interestin the way he treats musicians, on 'ere, like, its kinda secret handshake, eh? well, music, fountain 'o youth, ya know.
super
Cool! Jonesy’s playing a Gibson J-40...just like mine! 👍

Please I love your interviews but could you up the volume a bit.
Attended too many loud concerts? Hearing's gone?
anyone feeling Dave Lee Travis ?
Couldn't think of anything worse then feeling Dave Lee Travis
The band TESLA never made vehicles, so a car company is not confusing the market. You can have McDonald's Hardware, but no one else can use McDonald's and make food products. As said below, Nikolai Tesla is the basis for BOTH their names.
Phil's speaking voice sounds just like Glenn Hoddle.
Is he from Hayes as well?
I love Steve Jones...
Phil looks good at 61 years of age.
"Chugging" Steve... It's called "Chugging!"
Phil sounds like a cool guy and all (he's still doing the fast picking that doesn't fit the Leppard style.) I miss Pete Willis and his melodic playing..... First 3 albums are the Best.

@5:16 Belchy's Burp-box time.
Elon Musk named his company after inventor, electrical engineer, & physicist, Nikola Tesla, not the band. You Do know that right?

Awesome interview. Like two mates chatting. The antithesis of most shitty US interviews. I like Phil's playing when he tones it down, but he seems to have a gap between slow and stupid fast.
did they have a moment?
Sounds like early Bill Nelson
Jonesy looks like Dave Lee Travis
Jeez how about playing High n Dry threw n threw. I'd see that, not Hysteria.
High n dry sounds like an AC DC cover band, I'm glad that they changed it needed to happen, sue me if you don't like my opinion.

I like Phil and he certainly is a good musician, nice guy and he's very buff... total vegan too. Just not into Def Lep since the 80s...
Sex Leppard.🤘
Steve Jones starts of playing something that sounds like "Space Oddity". He's plagiarizing. Even Phil thinks it's that. LOL.
Radio killed the MTV star.
Love Phil, nice guy but no need for all that fast 'Fret-Wanking' all over Jonesey's
2 chords! - :)
Ohhh..jonesy !!..from the sex pistols..duh !
F & G major never sounded so good.
Back in the days of the Pistols, Leppard would have been the butt of their hatred - middle of the road stadium fodder.
You are only partly correct. Actually the Leps were formed in 1977... If you read my post again, you will note the use of "would have been". It's you needs to do your homework, mate.
Phil was in a band called GIRL before he joined Def Leppard. Check them out. They were very Generation X sounding (punkish).
Nude dudes 😀
I used to like Def Leppard, before they became a pop band.
Jose Luis so pretty much you just liked on through the night? :P
I think he means there first 3 Albums
I thought High N Dry was the best.
Right on Aravis.
Jose Luis Over produced shite muzak.

He's still got his own accent
He’s a good guy. Just a class act all around.
