    I can see the chase around the house becoming someone's strategy. Kind of Advanced Squad Leader-ish. Oh well, fun times.

    After the hit it is a bit complex the first few times so we did a little crib sheet:
    1 roll to hit. If it hits then:
    2 roll location (that tells you the armour value you need) P40
    3 roll D6+ Pen value of the gun (roll of a 1 can never cause penetrating hit - ‘glancing blow rule’ P43 easily missed as its tucked away in the corner)
    4 Compare total to the armour of the location hit P43
    If totalarmour: damaging hit + penetrates (unless a 1 was rolled)
    5 If penetrates then roll on the tank destruction table P43
    6 If the tank takes damage but not KO roll on the additional effect table P45.
    7 If the commander is unbuttoned roll on the button up table (even if total

      With your crib sheet, roll 3 different colored dice once (let's say red to hit, white for location and blue for penetration) and interpret.

    You guys really put a lot of effort for a game you don´t enjoy one bit.

    Thanks for playing through this game and showing it in such detail. It looked promising to me at the start with the pre-planned actions, but it looked like those weren't actually locked in? Several times the US tanks moved differently than their command, in a way that really made it hard for the Germans to get a shot off. Would love to see a good implementation of fog of war, but seems like this isn't it.

    Great looking table! Hope to see you break WEIRD again soon, it's been awhile since you've traveled the Weird WWII genera. Keep it WEIRD!

    If a tank receives a second Running Gear Damage Token it is not counted as knocked out. However, it has suffered severe damage to its suspension, wheels or tracks, and from this point
    onwards counts as ‘crippled’.
    So you had to shoot him again in the running gear to prevent him from moving, only thing he can do is scout to advance.

    If a Turretless tank is hit a second time in the hull, you need to roll a D6. You have a 50% chance to survive the second hull hit (I don't remember on the top of my head if its 1-3 or 4-6 needed to survive). If you survive, your opponent needs to inflict a third hull damage marker to take the tank out automatically. This can be found on the Turretless Trait of the Rulebook. This applies to the Stuh42.

    In my "Wild Bill" persona. I didn't earn that nickname by being passive and defensive. Although, US TD doctrine was for TDs to try and ambush the enemy. Also, Tigers tried to fight at long range, taking advantage of their good armor and the accuracy of the 88 at long range. The Stug 42 could have tried to clear some ambush terrain, making it a more competitive game for VPs. It will probably never happen again, but in hindsight, I see the hit when the M-10 and the Sherman were lined up side to side, to decide the Tiger's shot could have hit the Serman which such an overwhelming penetration value. The next step would be to see where the Sherman was hit, and if it was penetrated. etc. As long as you decided to see what the 3" ATG gun could do, it could be justified, imo. As far as how the game is working, I think you are both having more than your share of bad luck, both with the dice and the cards. I like the game and I hope you'll hang in there with it.

    I like the buttoned/un-buttoned mechanic affecting line of sight and (presumably) vulnerability. I like the idea of each turn having multiple phases for a game with a small model count. I like the crew ranking system, and I even like the pre-assigned orders, although I don't think I fully understand them tbh. I don't like how there are rules for "models which aren't on the table" I understand the advantages and that this isn't bolt action, but it's the same thing which makes me dislike the spotters in bolt action. It makes more sense for artillery but I think in y'all's last game there were like infantry hardpoints in the hedgerows and such, and I'm not a huge fan of that, it would be cool to see it work like space hulk where the jean stealer, I mean, defending player puts those models out on the table when the ambush is activated, but you have no way of knowing how big or how armed the squad is until that point.
    Come to think of it, this game kinda reminds me of Space Hulk but with tank shaped tanks instead of human shaped tanks. Maybe Space Hulk mixed with the car game version of space hulk, I forget what it's called ,but the blood angels one from back in the day.

    Wow. I've watched your two videos of this game, and my impression is it is just way to tedious - for me anyway. I think the only thing that would be worse is the randomness you mentioned in the previous video WRT What a Tanker...

      Yeah, I'm not a fan of this rule set. It's not as random as WaT but its more tedious. I prefer the randomness of WaT over this because that adds a bit of "comedy" to the game. I guess I'd say WaT isn't as serious as this, whereas this seems like its trying to be a serious but simple game. IMO it doesn't work.

    Great looking game. The stuH could have survived the second hull hit, when a Turretless tank receives a second Hull Damage Token on a roll of 1-3, the vehicle is knocked out, 4+ it takes the token. The tank will be knocked out if it receives a third Hull Damage Token (p56 of the book)

    How would you rate this game compared to say, Bolt Action Tank War? I am curious about this game and thinking of getting it

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  Před měsícem

      Tank war is just bolt action with more tanks, not really much to it. This game is a tank game

    Great report: don’t the rules allow for a 56ton tiger to drive through the house? Then there’s no line of sight problem 😂

    I love you warlord games but point blank rules need to be more drastic...that tiger was maybe 15 feet away from the M10

    • @ejl1221
      @ejl1221 Před 2 měsíci

      They are going to create a set of rules that helps sell their product. Table size 6' by 4' isn't going to be a realistic range but that is unimportant when your product is 28mm.

      Have the rules but not played...I was thinking of adding a extra dice when shooting "under one tank length" away or under, or drop the 5 to a 4+...
