    My cousin-in-law has that exact same Bible, and it's one of the most astonishing looking Bibles that I have ever seen been read by another. Great brand, anyways, God bless you my brother in Christ

    Oooh... I was waiting for this one.
    I think the font on Thompson Bibles is always too small for my taste. But I'm glad to see a company making a good quality Bible for folks that prefer this model.
    As far as chained reference Bibles with this same overall idiology goes, I personally went instead for the TBS Westminster large print.
    It's a big Bible, but these I usually leave for desk use only anyway. I got myself a Schuyler Canterbury for pleasure reading and finally a CBP midsize Turquoise to take to church and around with me. Built like a tank to take the abuse.
    I may have purchased an identical backup for each of those 3 Bibles as well... (Don't judge me, LOL), so I feel pretty future proof to the point I may not buy another Bible for myself for the next 30 years or so.
    Great review as always.

      My favorite every day carry is the Schuyler Canterbury. It used to be the TCR, but do to aging eyes I had to switch to bigger font! This Thompson is ver nice though! It used to be an 8 pt font and a lighter ink. Now it is 9.5 pt font - dark and bold!
      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

    Around minute 21, you see Romans 4:16 in black but in the older Thompson, 4:16 is printed under #1449. Also, I find the archeological section that is missing in this new version, helpful to learn about places mentioned in the Scripture text and those places being documented in the study helps in the "4000" number series - 4345 - Bethsaida or 4346 - Beth-shan. I also like the self-pronouncing text of the KJV which is missing in this new version. The print of this new version is very nice and easy to read. Thanks for your review.... very helpful.

    I noticed watching your video at about 11 minutes, where you show Genesis 41 that the date in the margin differs from the older version - 1715 B.C. in the older and 1886 B.C. in your premiere version.

      It has a little bit of the preterist view. Now some things can be dual - prophecy in the immediate future and longer in the future. Once again, this is still not a big part - they tried to be as unbiased as they could.

    Excellent review however, I prefer the older Thompson reference Bible that were made by BB Kirkbride
    I just got the newer version today and it’s missing the tree of Jesus his life the tree of Paul’s life, a bunch of the charts and I’m just really not feeling it. Definitely going to return it and try to find an older version. Any idea where I might be able to find the old one? Also, I had an extra large Bible from them and buy extra large. I don’t mean print I mean the size.

    • @faithtowalkministries132
      @faithtowalkministries132  Před 11 měsíci

      You may be able to find the regular size ones printed by Kirkbride but bound by CBP (Church Bible Publishers). If they have any left.

    What did you disagree with in the outlines?

  • @farlowalexify
    @farlowalexify Před rokem +2

    I enjoy mine I like the black letter edition the best and I wish they had the glossary put in and other bibles have a regular dictionary would be nice to put in
    I also wish they would have black letter edition in all of them rather than the red letter edition I think it’s easier to read the regular size editions if they have it in the black letter only like the 1964 Thomson chain was only in black letter the 5th edition
    changed everything to red letter I like the thicker books and the leather is wonderful this looks more like the 1964 Thomson chain edition minus the red section in it and minus the archeological section I take the black letter edition any day over the red letter wish more bibles get rid of the red letter all together and keep it one color and it’s easier to read than the red letter that is my opinion otherwise it’s a wonderful Bible I do have older editions as well I do like the archeological section as I enjoy history

  • @farlowalexify
    @farlowalexify Před rokem +1

    They should make this premiere edition in handy size with black letter edition also rather than the red letter version

    • @faithtowalkministries132
      @faithtowalkministries132  Před rokem +1

      Yes Zondervan and Thomas Nelson - although two separate companies are owned by the same parent company. Therefore the production will be similar in quality and materials. Also Thomas Nelson came out with the comfort print which they both share now as well.

    Printed in China, are you joking?❤ how is that possible so are the text blocks and the paper ship back from China after they receive them from another? I don’t know I give up on this one.

    • @faithtowalkministries132
      @faithtowalkministries132  Před rokem

      Yes, printed in China. Paper is highly opaque paper from Europe though. I agree, I would rather it be printed in the USA. Second choice would be Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands.

    Not getting another Thompson, to many references to the RV . In the kjv. It's still biased brother. No offense. Great video. Zondervan will only mess it up. Part of the eccuMENical system.

  • @rocko100able

    Except that Bible is made by zondervan, they take all kinds of stuff out, and they add stuff,
    it's no longer Thompson chain-reference, it's a zondervan, put a the original Thompson chain-reference right next to that zondervan imitation Thompson's chain, and look to see if the zondervan's got all the same things as the old King James original Thompson, and you will see changes that would not be acceptable guaranteed, you look at everything from beginning to end and you'll see what I mean, when Thompson sold out to zondervan, the chain reference is no longer the same, not even close, I'll stick with the original Thompson's chain, you can keep the zondervan.

    • @faithtowalkministries132
      @faithtowalkministries132  Před 9 měsíci

      Actually they completed their chains. Yes they took out the Archeological supplement and the Glossary for the king's english, but all the other content is still in there. Some of the maps and charts are changed, but the info is still there.
      Now, do I still love the Kirkbride edition? Yes, I have stocked up on many (yeah many) of the older editions so that myself, my wife, my kid's and grandkids would have them. The sad thing is a person is not going to be able to pick up a Kirkbride one for very much longer. They are now becoming collector's items. Therefore, I'm glad that the Thompson Chain Reference will still be around for others.
