- Commence your studies of air-to-air radar operation in the Mirage F1. In this tutorial, we will cover the fundamentals of the Cyrano IV radar for air-to-air interception. Other radar topics will be covered in other videos.
The principles covered in this tutorial apply to both the Mirage F1 CE and Mirage F1 EE, and takes place on the Caucasus map in DCS World.
Reiver is terrible at French.
Reiver is not a hardcore milsim-er - he just likes playing the game well - if you're looking for something more authentic, please consult the flight manual.

Wake up babe, new Reiver tutorial just dropped.
lol 😆
Thanks for the support!
Lmao I was JUST praying for the radar BVR vid to drop so I could watch it on the way home. Thanks a bunch Reiver your vids are the highest quality tutorials on the platform.
Would if I could say that I planned it deliberately for your journey home, but that would be a fib.
Thanks very much for your support. More to follow!
Timing is amazing, was training a friend on mirage BVR yesterday and struggled. Now he has a perfect video to learn with, and even myself has improved :)
Thank you !
Ahh brilliant. You're welcome and good hunting!
One of the best tutorials for the Cyrano radar. Many thanks.
You're quite welcome.
This is impeccable timing ole boy.
A few close friends and i are running a cold war op this weekend, and live chosrn the F1. Perfect content to help me brush up the technicalities.
I skso deeply appreciate your M2000 series, fantastic content sir. Thank you
You're welcome. Let me know how you get on with your Cold War op!
Thanks Reiver! Trialing and F1 and loving it so far, your tutorials helped me a ton with the M2000. Love the passion for French aircraft and definitely helping me be a fellow fan.
You're welcome. Glad you're trialling the F1 - it's an underrated module!
Glad you are back to my beloved Mirage F1! Great video after so long just learned about the D function on the elevation control of the radar!
Yeah, been buried with IRL work but finally managed to get caught up! Hope you enjoyed the video.
Important clarification needed regarding the elevation. The numbers are always in thousands of feet whether you are in "E" mode or "D" mode. They are never in degrees.
Perhaps I didn't explain that clearly but I do state that the numbers represent the altitude difference whether in D or E mode. With the alidade set to 10 nm, the number in E mode gives a good approximation of the angle in degrees (as well as the altitude difference), given the bracket of altitudes the radar's scan cone will be covering, which can be confirmed with the inverse tangent trigonometric function. This is obviously a useful rule-of-thumb feature. 👍
@@reiver1-1 ok. I haven't watched the entire video yet. I was just going by what you said around the 14:15 mark.
Yes! another one. this series has been amazing. Thank you very much 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks very much. I've been snowed under with IRL work so I've only just managed to complete it! More to come!
@@reiver1-1 looking forward to them. i reference you videos all the time.
Thanks for another great tutorial 👍
You're welcome!
You are a great teacher, i subbed.
Thanks for the support!
excellent - cheers'
Thanks and you're welcome!
Hi. I don't think the engine has to be off to remove the radar shroud. Just the canopy has to be open.
Thanks for the teaching, any terrain avoidance mode?
You're welcome. Terrain avoidance is not implemented at the present time, I'm afraid.
:D
Such a shame that she doesn't have IFF :(. Makes BVR capability useless in many DCS online situations.
Not useless...just more of a challenge! 😀
@@reiver1-1 yeah ok, it can be used if you have GCI on or if the server comes with very regular EWR picture.
If not, then you simply can't ID the target BVR.
