For those who can't speak Chinese, Zhongli's 'I will have order.' part more accurately translates to 'Heaven shifts, worlds change'. It means any small movements in heaven will have an immense impact on the worlds below.
Especially the fact that Zhongli's Chinese is basically an old school, Classical Chinese.

i dont know chinese but, just by listening to his voice when he says tiān dòng wànxiàng the vibe is totally different from the english dub of "i will have order", in the english vr he feels powerful and imposing, dominant rather. but here? this zhongli totally gives the thousand year old resigned-yet-powerful god vibes (sorry if i dont make sense but yeah) , its like he doesnt even need to waste a lot of his breath and effort in dealing with situations. idk i just love this version a lot
I feel the same as you! The cn vr of Zhongli gives me the feeling that he is more sedate, confident, and reliable, he has the majesty of the ruler and nothing can affect him. That's why I love Zhongli so much.

IMO, the EN & JP voices sounds like Zhongli pretty struggle with the battle and scream "HERE YOU MONSTER, TASTE MY METEORITE!", while the CN one sounds like he is very confident with his power, he believes that he much greater than the opponent, like " Oh? You come to taste my power, huh? Sure, don't regret it"
Maybe this way of speaking the "天动万象" is more like what Zhongli should be

As someone who speaks chinese, Zhongli's chinese are different and harder to understand. If you watch some c-drama about chinese kingdom and stuff, they basically speak like Zhongli. It's poetic and difficult to understand becuz in the modern day, not many people speak like that anymore. If you learn about Chinese culture and history, you might understand Zhongli's speech better here, but even me myself can't understand most of his speech becuz I don't live in China and I only speak chinese with my family. I hope this explains why chinese dub is considered to be the best dub for Zhongli.

That is true. I'm pretty sure he says 天动万象 (tiān dòng wànxiàng) in the trailer which is translated to 'I will have order' in the English dub. Directly translated, it doesn't make much sense at all. The first character means day, sky, etc. the second means to move, the next means ten thousand and the last means 'like.' But that is only if you read each character one by one. When you piece it all together, it sort of means that the sky moves in all directions. The last two character 万象, I'm not sure if I'm correct, but it also translates to the name of a place, but on the other hand, it also means something of the course of all that happens of natural phenomenon; every manifestation of nature. Of course, I only study Chinese, so I can't speak for the accuracy of anything I said. And so, the phrase itself, may be that of more traditional Chinese?
@@vial_node730 I just did some research with my mom and we decided to conclude this. We know Zhongli says 天动万象 when he uses his elemental burst. In that context, we can say it like he (Zhongli) smack/punch the orbit into like a star and make that meteor fall onto our enemies. You may not see any correlation but in that context, 天动 means Zhongli 'moves' the orbit into a star like stuff that we know as the meteor and 万象 means 'a like' (?). There're other translation but this one makes the most sense. We search in on chinese sites and found lots of translation but we still decided to go with this one. I hope this helps >_
万象 means various scenes and phenomenons in cosmos. 天动 is hard to explain. In my opinion 天 refers Zhongli. 天 has the meaning of emperor, king or rex etc. 动 is move or control.

@@NokoPilot I think that is a misunderstanding. In linguistics, Germanic languages do not actually refer to the German spoken today, they are a brunch of languages. English being a germanic language doesn't mean it is of German origins, these mean completely different things. Not to mention English is a weird one as it also has a significant amount of words of latin origins.
I just want to say that if you are not a Chinese or a foreigner proficient in Chinese literature and history, you will never realize the feeling that Chinese dubbing lines bring to people - so perfect and impeccable.

"I will have order" in CN Zhongli sounds soo calm, simple, and powerful. Its like a Thanos snap that destroys half the population with two fingers.
In CN is called the "Divine Shift of All Beings" his skill, an earthly skill is where all beings walk with their legs, only by his order that those beings can move.
TBH, in CN it sounds really cool but really vague, as it was actually part of a ancient poetry.

@@khada225 the chinese line holds much significance as he speaks in the same way that royals used to. His line 天动万象 can mean the movement of the heavens causes ten thousand ripples, or where I (essentially Rex Lapis) go, ten thousand will follow.

@@rachiichan it's classical Chinese, which the grammar and sentence structure is very different from modern Chinese. But he uses a commoner style classical Chinese, which is easier to understand than scholar or formal ones.

He's using classical Chinese when he speaks. Even though you understand Chinese, you still need to know the meanings of each character, how some character combine becoming a different meaning, and the word play that could be involve.

Both essentially have the same meaning. Not exact same, but in the same ballpark.
@@EdGee89 the thing with CN Zhongli is that his line can be interpreted in a few ways, but all of them would tie into Zhongli’s character. It can mean when the heaven moves, a thousand ripples are created. It can also mean when Rex Lapis move, ten thousand would follow.

I'm an English speaker but I always come back to this video and been using the CN voice over for the characters, and I must say that even though I do not understand I still preferred the CN one, it has this certain feel that I cannot shake off so since then I decided to stick with it. I love Zhongli so much and for me they did a magnificent amount of effort working on him. He will always be my number one character.😭💛
In Chinese original edition, the worlds zhong li says is more like Chinese ancient poetry.
So when translated it into English, it became too long and lost the power and meaning of the original version.
Such as “I will have order” is totally have a different mean . Its original Chinese pronunciation is“tian dong wan xiang”, means“ every move of a god will cause changes in all things in the world”. And this character itself is the god of the rock, so it is very domineering
i wish english ver would have made a more poetic script bc i feel we lost a lot of his sophisticated charm (tho eng va's voice is super sophisticated on its own)

It's the common voice used by old tea house story tellers around Beijing, later popularised by radio dramas of classic Chinese novel.

it actually is very immersive, this will be the voice if you went to listen to old story tellers in China.
It's just fascinating to see the different VA's action, and that they don't contradict the cultures at all. The Chinese version is WAAAYYY more poetic and mannered to the bone, while the English one is simply bold, experienced and strong. But neither express any apparent worldly emotions. Which, in my mind, is a miracle, because it's very hard to use this character and all its rich origins as a frame for universal understanding. All that aside, this VA's qualified enough to cause one heck of a nostalgia and remind me of all the cultural good manners embedded into my bones.
CN versions are so cool. Idk why it doesn't gather as much audience as JP versions.
Most players are fans of anime and are used to Japanese language. There is a bias.
for non-chinese people chinese tends to sound too harsh, japanese just sounds so much more pleasant to the ears. sure, chinese is a poetic and rich language but if you don’t understand anything of what they’re saying you are left with just the strident phonetics. would be nice to know chinese so we could appreciate the va, like with zhongli for example, but unfortunately most of us don’t

There’s a very detailed explanation video about zhongli on bilibili .About his clothes design,voice line,skills,his character design.But it‘s so hard to translate to English because there are plenty of Classical Chinese and references.Even Chinese live in China cannot really understand all of it.

I speak Chinese.I think actually there isn’t any difficulty in understanding the meaning of those sentences saying in traditional way and with poetry. But it does give me a kind of total different feeling. That’s something the modern language won’t have.

My conclusion in watching this video is that, Chinese is one hell of a languages. Its amazing the fact that one character can mean so many different things is just wow. Now I can't really appreciate zhongli's words here I don't speak a single chinese.
Chinese is meant to read not pronounce. You can prnouce it whatever you want and it won't change the menaing of the sentence. Perfect language for today's digital world, and possibly why China is so vast yet so united.

as someone thats chinese, the way he speaks is more traditional and is used more in the past. since mihoyo is a chinese company and genshin is a chinese based game, the characters usually sound more natural in chinese. also since zhongli is a "god" thats been around for a while, his way of speaking is more traditional. for example its like chinese in modern day vs the chinese thousands of years ago.

I will always prefer that every nation will have a dub based on the country they are based on for better cultural immersion.
Zhongli speaks using an ancient chinese way of the past when there were still emperors. Basically they remove all connecting words like "so" and "to" and "and", making sentences shorter.
Translation of all things that Zhongli says:
天动万象 is "sky moves ten thousand scenarios" directly translated(or something like that, it's hard to translate because one character can have so many meanings). It means the sky is changing and causing many scenarios of what will happen to shake or move. It's weird, but I can understand it as I have seen this in chinese literature many times.
此世群魔诸神并起, 我虽无意逐鹿, 却知苍生苦楚, 只愿荡涤四方 护得浮世一隅。means that Zhongli basically wants to live a peaceful life without any trouble, but he cannot and must continue to protect the people.

万象 here means Everything. 万 ten thousand: A big number normally used to refer to inumerable. 象 appearance. So 万象 would be Every Appearance/Everything.
I will have order in Chinese is 店家，点菜！just kidding, it's 天动万相, which roughly translates to: (as the) heaven trembles, (so) have many (extraordinary) phenomenals manifested. Not elegant translation, but should get the meaning delivered.

He is speaking kinda in Classical Chinese while modern people mostly speaks in Vernacular. Its the Chinese that you learn in secondary school 文言文
