2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Road Test Review | Specifications, Performance, Exhaust & More

- After being on sale for over 10 years, Royal Enfield has released a brand new version of their best selling bike, the Classic 350. While visually, this new Classic looks very similar to the outgoing model, it is built on RE’s J-platform that first debuted on the Meteor 350. This basically brings with it a brand new engine, a brand new frame along with new suspension as well. So it’s a very different bike underneath - one in which RE has addressed a lot of issues that plagued the earlier motorcycle.
On paper, there’s not much difference in spec though. The engine is still a 350cc single-cylinder air cooled mill, but this one uses cam-driven overhead valves as opposed to the pushrod setup from the earlier motor. Power and torque figures remain similar, but this motor has become significantly smoother at pretty much any speed. And the performance has improved drastically too. Even suspension sophistication has seen a bump up and the new bike is a lot more comfortable than ever before.
Here are the prices (ex-showroom Chennai) for the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350

Thanks for make it in English, you know that people all over the world is waiting for the new Classic, greetings from Spain.
Me alegro de que te haya gustado el vídeo, amigo :)
I agree. Most of clips about RE are in strange language (mix of bad english and unknow language). So I appreciate your video👍
After living with my girlfriend's Himalayan for the last 6 months and several thousand miles, I have really come to love and admire RE. The brand has millions of devoted followers and over 100 years of history, and I love to see these new improvements and innovations implemented. I am a Triumph Rat and die hard Guzzisti, but the heart and soul of Enfield isn't lost on me.
I am beyond excited to see these gorgeous bikes hit US shores, I will own one.
I’ve been a longtime RE fan from the US for many years. Loved my old 535 GT. I have to say this video of yours is by far the best Enfield video I’ve seen in a LONG TIME. Information was perfect and knowledgeable, the scenery and camera was like a movie, etc…long live Enfield!
Hey glad you enjoyed the video dude. You really should take a test ride on this new Classic when you get the chance. Even I'm surprised how much I liked this bike and I review bikes for a living :D
This's truth 🤜🤛
"But the old classics problem wasn't just skin deep, It was about having the right vibe" this hits hard on so many different levels 👏
hehehe... thanks man. You can thank my colleague Arun Nadar for coming up with such brilliant lines :)
@@PriyadarshanBawikar I have to applaud for his deep thinking first ig. And also thanks Mr Nadar
Sad to see they removed full body massager feature 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
2 lakh 30k massager
😂😂😂😂😂 we will miss the massage
You nailed it 😂
The chai cup challange is epic testing. Man the guys at RE will be delighted with this review.
its a very common test
Any options of getting an alloy in the same chrome red model?
Nokia Phone yes. You'll be given an option at the time of booking.
VIBRATION IS PART OF RE. It IS NECESSARY TO MAKE FILLING OF HAVYNESS . OTHERWISE IT BECOME ELECTRIC BIKE
Glad you liked it man... we try and do it for every bike where the refinement is kinda questionable.
Chai cup challenge really shows the difference between the previous gen and the new gen and there is huge improvement even though they are wearing the same clothing.
Delighted to see this bike on the UK website for the first time this week (Nov 26th 2021) can't wait for the launch date to be announced, it's the sort of bike I longed for when I was 17, back in the 60's, hopefully it will make me feel 17 again!
Thanks a lot for the great review. Europe is eagerly awaiting the new Classic 350. Best wishes from Germany!
Cup challenge was a perfect idea. It made me assure that I am taking right decision buying this bike.
Glad you liked it bro. After riding this new Classic, even I'm considering getting one.
I always wanted a RE Classic but was having second thoughts. But now after this new iteration of the Classic 350, iam convinced. This is the bike for me.😎
Go for it, amazing bike. I ride it 400km in a day and it was very comfortable ride.
I CAN'T WAIT for the Classic 350 to arrive in the US! I own a Meteor 350, and I love it. I've also always loved the looks of the Classic, but I never got one. After owning a 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot, another big single, I was reluctant to own a single cyclinder motorcycle again, due to their vibration. The Meteor's sweet engine keeps all the good of a single cyclinder bike, while doing away with the bad. It sounds like the new Classic does the same, so I'm eagerly awaiiting its arrival here. Soon as it arrives, I'll be getting one in Chrome Red... :)
As an addendum here, there's one thing a Meteor or new Classic 350 owner can do to improve the thump: change the filter and airbox cover. I swapped the stock filter and airbox snorkel out for DNA Filters' kit that includes both a high flow filter and a wider airbox cover. Not only has it improved the performance of my Meteor 350; it's given it a nice, deep, and THROATY THUMP! It has a better thump than the old Classic in this video.
As an American who's owned a classic 500 I love these bikes but my old used 500 was not reliable at all. But looking at these new ones it makes me want to give RE another chance
I have an old 2007 Classic 500 Machissmo which which I keep in India.. I wouldn't want it here as repairs would be way too costly.. in India, repairs are cheap and almost a cultural experience 😊
The fuel gauge in a RE is the most deceptive thing ever...I have a GT650. I drive it for 100kms and its still at 100%.
Then in the next 1km it comes to 50%. And once I switch the bike on the next day, its showing reserve 😂
Exact same thing with mine as well
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 cheap copies of good bikes ull buy then this is bound to happen.
@@friedicecreamfrozenfries4186 Such an ignorant comment....😂 kaha se aate ho tum log....
@@friedicecreamfrozenfries4186 Still a better option than paying 3 times the price for a parallel-twin engine which has the same performance but 3 times the maintenance.
Now go buy the good bikes you want!
@@adityaneelkanth okay, I'll, be happy with cheap copies.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha. The fuel gauge is finally here.
Aaaaand, not to forget, greetings from Brazil!
Great English, great video, very resourceful!
Thanks Highness, Jawa for inspiring the R&D team of RE to realise what refinement and features does matter to people now...not just thump and vib.
Actually the J platform was being designed long before Jawa even started selling
And as for inspiration, the name "Highness" itself is pretty "Royally" inspired.
Honda knew that RE classic 350 was getting old so they attempted to grab the succession by cloning RE almost ditto. Imagine Honda making a Bullet clone
Now since the 650s have become so popular, watch all the manufacturers try their best to clone that too
@@VivekNa Lol interceptor looks more like Triumph Street and GT 650 looks like Triumph thruxton and just see who’s copying
@@tech9896 you don't know that RE made a Continental GT in 1970s based on which the 535 GT was designed.
You also have no idea that the 650 interceptor is based on the looks of the 1970s interceptor.
But given that you were born in 1998, I guess that's expected
@@VivekNa Lol that interceptor has the looks of a modern day bullet but the current interceptor look like a Triumph and also there is a lot of difference between GT 535 and GT 650 the 650 also looks like a triumph and the fact that you’re born in 1869 and a blind RE fan that’s expected

This was a very good review! I love the looks of the Royal Enfield bikes. Both the Meteor and the Classic looks great!
@ 1:43 Iconic khopdi 😂😂😂. I had to pause while I laughed
hahahaha... when we were shooting the video, my brain simply couldn't recall the word "nacelle"... so I just ended up using the word all the mechanics use
Great review, thank you! This bike sells so well in Europe, that all deliveries until October 2022 are already sold out according to my local dealer. Luckily he recently managed it to get a test bike and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. For me it’s a sheer beauty I want to have it in my garage! Greetings from Poland!
Many thanks, going to test ride one of these to see how it compares to my old cast iron 500. Greetings from England!
Well matched "classic" theme for this review. Really peaceful and enjoyable!
Happy you liked it dude... :)
Nice review! Hope it comes to the USA
Didn't make to one minute of video and I already liked it.
Haha, I'm gonna see the rest of it, but I can already tell that is does have some quality in it.
Congrats!
Finally a re which doesn't rattle your balls but still sounds sweet.
One must have small balls which are meant to be rattled by the thump of an old school beauty... Talking about sweetness, Go buy a Jawa or even a KTM. ROYAL ENFIELD ISN'T THE ONE FOR YOU

Can't wait for the Classic to come home to the UK loved your video and thanks very much for commenting in English Thank you again Zig :)
Surprising to know the seat height has increased. I sat on one 2 days ago and was much easier to flat foot both feet on the new Classic than the old.
Yup... this new bike is narrower and the seat shape has been improved to make flat footing the bike easier.
I almost bought an old 500 a year ago, but the ridiculous vibration at 100kph or more - I decided not to get it. But seeing the new 350 has a smoother engine - maybe I can give the Classic another look.
Excellent video! I thought I had the perfect collection of three bikes. Now I have to get a fourth!
This right here is a man of culture. I can tell by the watch he's wearing, a G-Shock MudMaster GGB100-1A9 which is exactly the one I bought cause all of its features xD
7:13 You should've compared the exhaust note with the BS 3 or earlier versions. This might be the BS 4 or 6 model, also used in the Thunderbird X, if I'm not wrong, as the BS 3 and earlier versions had the "classic thump" sound that all of us are familiar with and love so much. That, in the newer iterations have been destroyed due to the catalytic converter and the sound seems anything but not as a typical RE. Anyway, great review from Zigwheels as always
Hey dude... glad you liked the video. We've compared it to the BS6 Classic, as any of the earlier models aren't available anymore. In fact, the BS6 Classic is also being discontinued as we speak. I agree, these newer RE's, especially those with the UCE motor don't have the thump of the old cast iron block.
@@PriyadarshanBawikar Thank you for the informative content as always
@@subhagnikpatgiri1919 In theory you can get the sound by replacing the whole bend pipe + silencer and maybe remapping the ECU to fuel it differently - but it wouldn't pass emissions.
One reason why the Classic 500 is discontinued is because of emissions.
But this new 350 is close to the old 500s performance (except for peak torque)
I am not a fan of Royal Enfield but I really appreciate the efforts of the RE Engineers.
PD is doing a fab job :)
I would love to see CB350RS vs the New RE classic comparo!
Thank you for your kind words bro... the comparo is coming up soon ;)
@@PriyadarshanBawikar Great! Take care and stay safe.
When you ride it, you will feel the Royalty
I bought it 20 days back, and i understood people are not just buying it for looks, the feel good riding of classic, The easyness, even after weighing 200+ kilos with fuel, still it feels lighter, no idea how did they managed to do such weight distribution.
Yes it doesn't comes with Bluetooth, heating seat but there is a uniqueness of riding this motorcycle.
To be honest, ignoring that kick start and sound, the looks became “Classicer”
guys at RE have done a great job, earlier i never liked their bikes but 650 twins started changing the scene and with meteor new c350 my respect for RE grew manifold
yeah I want one RE someday
I have a 2020 Bullet KS. I bought it for the old school vibe..literally delivers that in spades, right from start up.. It's quite comfortable till about 80 kmph, don't think my nuts can handle higher frequencies. The beef I have with it and RE is the shabby quality, everything is so cheap, it has one meter, it leaks, the tank cap seems made out of tinfoil, the chrome is shabby, lousy tyres, chain, sprocket, plastics, paint... name it, they've cheaped it out.....The new classic seems like the usual shabby rehash for near 2 lakh. These RE folk may need to take a hard look at a Honda and what they deliver for the same price...Great review. Thanks.
Old school vibe and legendary thump got a lot of people fooled and re made a lot of money because of such FOOLS, they deserve it, shabby quality, leaks everywhere, bla bla bla, didn't know this about re bikes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the Chai test. I disagree though, the new 350 classic has the wrong vibes. I own a classic 500 here in UK and oh, do I love those vibes. Great review 👍
Oh I agree with you about the 500. The 500 is bae. :)
It's too bad they've stopped selling it in India. Glad you enjoyed the review mate
Vibration test was awesome. Finally re has managed this problem little bit👍
At the risk of being trolled, I'd like to voice a pro-old school opinion here. The chai cup challenge to show the refinement of the engine is an incredible idea, and kudos to whoever came up with it. But what RE may be getting wrong here is the fact that the "rattling" engine was one of the most endearing features of the bike. It made the rider feel connected to the bike.
Sure you have to move ahead with the times, but that could just mean fixing the quality issues (which they may have done) without tampering with the feel or making the bike feel soulless.
I do not know what game RE wants to win, but I hope they are still in touch with the real consumer of the bike, and understand that that "unrefined" engine is what sold over 50k bikes every month.
Things like oil leakage, etc did need to be fixed, and I'm glad if they have been, but not at the cost of taking away the feel of the engine. We've already lost the thump, and now this too?
CLASSIC case of "new" not always meaning "improved" imho.
Thanks a lot for the nice video.
I can't wait to have this new Classic 350 imported in France ;
Will choose the Gun metal version with alloy wheels 😊
For taller riders, get the one piece classic seat (driver and pillion).. you sit farther back (more leg room), and have better support from the slight rise. Also, a higher rise handlebar is a must, to not hit your knees. Higher also feels more natural for the overall body position.
6:10 that exactly how i feel my new classic 350 is telling me whenever i am riding it. Sometimes i want, sometimes I don't.
Great review. Hope the 350 comes to the UK.
Old is gold 💪
When Your Heart wants it Price Doesn't Matter. People Doesn't Buy RE for Price They Buy RE For Emotion. Thats All.
lol. this bike is overpriced period
Iam already riding this new bike it feels very happy seat now very comfortable like sofa
The exhaust note is so much matured now. 💓
Yeah man... I'm shocked at how much I enjoyed this new exhaust note myself. Ride and 40-50kph, and you actually get that lovely "dug-dug" that you expect from a Royal Enfield, although it's definitely more muted compared to the old cast iron engine.
U know what... i brought one. I love it.. it rides perfect. Absolutely refined engine.not sure what this guy is saying
I like meteor fireball more than any of the 350CC RE bikes🔥🔥🔥

Great review! But oh dear - I had intended to buy a Meteor but now I'm undecided. I hope that RE get the supply of bikes into the UK sorted out (unlike supplies of the Meteor, which is a mess) and now I'm off to try and find the price of the Classic range here in the UK...
While I personally love the Meteor, the new Classic's easy-going nature is just so addictive and makes me want to keep going back to it... I really hope RE sorts out their supply issues in the UK. Coz a lot of people across are going to love this new Classic methinks
@@PriyadarshanBawikar We are in complete agreement! I haven't been able to find a price for the Classic range in the UK yet. In fact, I can't even find a definitive statement that the bike will come to the UK, or when. I was intrigued by RE's low-key launch of the Meteor in the UK (unlike the Himi and Interceptor). I saw no early adverts in the glossy magazines or official press releases (just reports by individual editors, based on what they'd gleaned from CZcams videos from India!). Strange. Let's hope RE do better with the new Classic range.
Same here, I am going soon to test ride a Meteor, but now think I want to wait for a Classic.
@@genesmiley3727 Yep! Let's hope RE respond to these questions soon. We can't be the only people asking!
They are not providing tripper navigation due to chip shortage(covid)... Initially they told only red chrome that you see in this video gets tripper while all other colors will have tripper as optional but they are not offering tripper even for this model.. It can be installed later at any time as optional so they're selling it without tripper.. I think you should wait for it in global market because it's easy here since RE showroom is in every city and even in rural villages.. I wouldn't recommend buying it in UK or USA because I've seen riders complain about service and showroom..Even RE won't sell it globally when they have chip shortage in local market.. So better wait for it.. Also RE hunter 350, scram401(naked version of himalayan), 650twin cruiser and classic are spotted testing here in india for more than a year now and are ready to be launched..
Hoping to get my chrome red 350 here in the U.K. next spring. Thanks for the video.
Wonderful video. Thanks for the comparison with meteor. Meteor is the bike for me. 💙
Surprisingly THe Bike is Looking More beautiful here, than in the Powerdrift Video
Yes 2021 350 has that thump
Interesting. Will take a look when the bike is on sale in Europe next spring.
Hi Guys need your suggestion on behalf of my husband. He is getting second-hand Classic 350 in INR 128000. Please recommend that should we purchase this or not. Details as follows: -
Model: Gunmetal Grey, Spoke Wheels
Year: Nov 2018
Odometer: 6800 KM
Owner: First Owner
Condition: Very Good
Accessories: Raw & No Crash Guard installed.
Reason for selling: Not in use as the guy is studying in different city. Please recommend.
It depends on his choice. If he wants to have the bullet feel(vibration) please go for it. This new version is like a heavy bike and will feel like a bike and not bullet. The deal sounds good.
Chrome red is beautiful ❣️
Seat spring is also available as possible, because it gives more riding comfort
Seat spring is available as an accessory, but it us just cosmetic. Makes no difference in riding comfort.
I would like my Interceptor to look like the Classic 350!
I'll miss my physiotherapy 😂😂

THIS IS THR PERFECT 350 NOW M GOING TO JUMP FROM BAJAJ TO ENFIELD👍WAS WORRIED ABOUT VIBRATION IN OLD ONES THATS Y NOT BUYING BUT NOW A1
The classic at its #BESTFORM 🔥
Great Job Royal Enfield
7:25 I find some base in the new Classic 350, and I like it much...it's still having the thump
@Debajit 🤣🤣🤣yes, vibrations were a lot of it, but legends never say this as a complain, for them it is a simplicity...
@Debajit but let's just agree the point that vibes could be good for those who find this a simplicity, especially for those who use the bike....but now we need more refinement and that's what it s offered
I have to choose between the new Classic 350 and the Interceptor. Having test ridden the Interceptor when it was launched, I have been lusting after it, slowly convincing my wife to let me get a bike.
Now that she’s convinced, we went for a test ride and she’s insisting that she’s more comfortable riding pillion on the Classic and she likes the looks (Chrome Red) more.
Surprisingly, I liked the new Classic ride much better than the old ones in terms of vibration. I also liked riding position comfort ( over the Interceptor) but I know the engine is phenomenally better on the Interceptor. We are both tall and have lower back issues so comfort is definitely a priority.
My riding is mostly going to be city riding with occasional weekend rides outside the city ( Mumbai )
I would really appreciate your input on this matter. It would help me make up my mind.
Thanks
The new engine and the marginal updates are welcome. However the price keeps increasing and is not a good sign
Normal
Dude , RE has a minimum 25-30% metal component as against 10-15% of most other two wheelers in India . Look at the rate at which metal prices have gone up in last 12 months , I feel the price rises are justified .
Disclaimer : RE FANBOY .
I have two bikes as of now , this sweetheart is going to be the third one
@@user-zb7jf8nf6z No way the prices are justified mate. Compared to some of the value products on the market, this is definitely overpriced. I agree metal prices are rising so have been RE products.
Now when RE finally does something to people’s liking. People start protesting for pricing. Oof the irony
You get what you pay for
@@NalinKhurb What irony? Am I still getting what I pay for? I don't think so. When I buy the 650 twins I get what I pay for but this or even the meteor and Himalayan are definitely over priced
It has lost it’s thump. But I’ve always installed a Red Rooster Exhaust which was always a perfect mix. Not to loud not to shabby.
Nice improvement it's meteor blood..I am proud to say owning a meteor...but price of new classic 350 is little bit high. Anyway Royal Enfield improving waiting for hunter 🔥
Now imagine if that had two cylinders, guys could hear that sound all day.. Man.
You mean the Interceptor's engine? Yeah, that sounds good.
@@twistednemo Nope.. Interceptor is not long stroke.
Great review and fantastic looking motorcycle. Just wish that these were made with a bigger engine to keep up with the flow of traffic on UK roads. Really need an engine happy at cruising at 120kph. I totally get that this is not what this motorcycle is for, but in order to get to the best roads to ride this bike, you need to ride on the faster roads 1st to get there.
I know mate... If only RE decided to make a new Classic 500... that would just hit the spot :)
I spent long enough with my 125 to just accept that I had to pick a lorry and sit behind it!
Ur hands and family jewels became numb on the old classic. This is a great improvement . They should do a standard too with new engine
From what I heard, people have been using screw threadlockers for mirrors, to stop them from getting loose.
It's a cool bike and I think it might be a good seller for Royal Enfield but I still like the older one tbh.
Hey PD,

It feels good to be back man. The last year and a half has been very difficult. But you'll be seeing more and more of my khopadi now :P

Great Bike... the Team Cup Challenge ist super 😀👍
PB, a well put together review as always and I especially like the way the team gets the perfect background score to go with the visuals.
Too modern and loyalists will cry foul and too crude and aam janta will complain, I think RE has done a good job balancing out everything. I like the brown chrome series though i would personally opt for the army green signal series. Not sure why RE ditched the dual horn for a single one, does it sound ok esp on the highway? The main issue I have with RE is the reliability of components. Being an owner myself I have had terrible luck with some parts of the engine, hopefully that is fixed now.
Extra horn is very easy to fix , you can get it fixed from a local workshop. Buy the same kind as spare from the RE spares and get it fixed.
@@niriap9780 obviously man. Not that it will deter any buyers, just wondering why they removed it that all. Besides for best effect, the horn should be dual tone, one high one low, same pitch horn wont necessarily sound good. But yes, I get you point :)
Hey thanks bro... It was some great cinematography by our DOP Neeraj Panwar and of course, the excellent edit was by the legendary Amar Katkar.
So they got inspired by Honda Hness 350, improved the performance and still did a terrible job on the design?
This is great, for the people that wanted spoke wheels and didn't like forward controls and toe-heel shifter, on the Meteor, have more options now. kick-starter would've been very nice.
Really was expecting a lot from the new change with the J type engine, then went to RE showroom for a friend and saw the new meteors lined up with complaints there. Completely reassured ownership is never going to be RE's thing, probably.
Legendary teacup test
