Royal Enfield Classic 350 Touring Review | Astral Ride | Is it as good as a RE Himalayan in Ladakh?

- When the good folks at Royal Enfield invited us for the 2021 Astral Ride, we sent ZigWheels' main man Kartikeya Singhee to brush up on not just his rough road riding skills, but also to pick up a new talent for astral photography. While the Royal Enfield Himalayan would have been the first choice for a Ladakh trip, we wanted to mix things up a bit and chose the new Royal Enfield Classic 350 instead to see for ourselves how this new motorcycle handled a proper touring assignment. It was going to be an interesting trip indeed and both man and machine were put through their own tests. Hi from the United States. This is really good content. Much respect to the conditions you ride your bike in. It is important to show that an 1200cc adventure bike isn't required to travel less kept roads. In fact you took the 350 through sections that might give adventure bikes a tough time. Well done!

The roads over there now are not less kept they are just under construction phase by phase😂
I am apolitical but the new government has been doing good since 2014 (not all good as is in the nature).
Lets be honest, Classic 350 has been all over India since the 1950s, but, the fact nothing broke and no oil leaks is a testament to the new engineering, and it looks fantastic. Nice vid, thanks for sharing.

I did Delhi-Pune on the new Classic in two days, with 50 kgs of luggage and a crash in between. It could do 90-100 ALL DAY and held up like a tank! Incredible job by RE

Would be good to see the video if you made any of your journey. Also when you say two days, can you quantify it in hours, like its exactly 48 or you took 36 hours. I would want to to do Pune Delhi so curious to know in how many legs did you complete the journey and any pitfall to avoid.

My father bought one and its surprisingly good. The exhaust sound in this new version is excellent from the stock.
There are pops from the exhaust at times when you make a perfect gear shift and it makes you smile a lot

its a piece of crap made from bad low price low quality parts, and has a lot of breakage faults ready to happening the moment start you start using it.. Do not risk this bike because it looks cool and is cheap. Cheap is not good, good is not cheap

The Classic 350 looks like it's as tuff as a tank. I can't wait for them to arrive in the States.
I am proud owner of this classic 350 chrome red, and I am in love with it. I use this for my daily traveling from home to office. I travel about 100km a day and it is too comfortable ❤️

We need an encore of this content. Beautiful videography blending the classic Royal Enfield with the awesome and rugged backdrop that is India.
From Texas in the US - your content, purpose and passion for bikes is felt across the world! Incredible stuff. Pushing a 350 through this much just goes to show the capabilities, here everything bigger is better...not the case with the Classic!
WELL! I have never been to India. The roads in the “middle of nowhere” are paved better than many roads in America. The mountain switchbacks in the dirt and rocks are another matter. You are a very good and BRAVE rider to run that hard with no guard rails. I love the 350 and I intend to buy one this year. Congratulations on a wonderful video. Beautiful and educational!

I am learning to love the smaller capacity bikes these days as they are moor interesting to ride and very rewarding. Nice to see your comment fellow biker. Never knew that interest in RE is growing in Europe! Anyways, Classic 350(Bullet) has a huge cult for what seems like a century in India. I don't know how they would launch it in other places coz it has a waiting list for many months already here. Don't know if many Europeans would even be interested in it but RE classic 350 is an emotion. It's simple, it's heavy, it's steady, it's slow, it's torqy and it's tough. Not 'Retro', it's how it's always been, with modern regulations and necessary upgrades. Have a nice day!
@@daakuredpanda5782 I'm willing to wait! I think you're right that it may only have limited appeal over here, where the perception is that you *need* more power, but I personally love everything it seems to stand for. Every bit of it is there for a reason, nothing more.

Fantastic report and video👍. As an Interceptor owner, it’s always good to get insight into RE’s other model. Best of all though, is understanding Indian biking culture, seeing the phenomenal landscape, and concluding that you and your countrymen are just as crazy about bikes as I am , even though we are separated by 6000 miles!
I agree completely. It is really something special. In the west we get tricked into the mindset that unless we have a GS we cant go anywhere! And we are proved wrong over and over again. What amazing landscapes.

I always hated Royal Enfield but when I bought Continental GT 650 I saw the shift from past to future, don't get me wrong I still hated RE even after I bought GT 650 for its idiotic 350 cc engine.
But then the new 350s restored my faith As it's the same engine at 650 but with one less cylinder, And boy oh boy would an engine this is I rode on my friend's 350 the newer one and it's absolutely a better bike as whole package than any bike out there in its category. Yes honda cb 350 i am looking at you(Jawa 300 with Mahindra engine are in a different league so I'm not going to compare them). Honda did a great job but RE did better.
Push RE to reintroduce the 500 classic again with the new engine.

Excellent video once again. I am very much looking forward to the official UK release of this model and your tests here have confirmed the bike's rugged capability and stamina. I know that if it can take that rough Indian terrain, it will happily eat up anything the old UK can throw at it. Cheers!

I think that classic 350 is in between of the himalayan and Meteor 350, a perfect mixture , 70 % city and 30 : off road , On the other side it's the awakening of the bullet and classic 500/350 style, the origin of Royal Enfield, I send a great salute from Argentina for all of you, I waiting for 'the new old modern lady'!!! Yes i have ridden stand-up over speed breakers, potholes etc without any issues unlike the meteor where its impossible to do. I cant wait for my new classic. Its due next month.

You certainly gave the classic a stern test, even though familiar territory you say, looks a tourer and excelled as explorer. I'm collecting mine from a dealership 1200km away and have no concerns about its abilities 👍👍👍. First class presentation and video.

RE should relaunch the legendary 500 cc all over again. I own a tb500 and everytime I ride, it feels just awesome. My brother's classic 350, feels seriously underpowered.

UPDATE! A few weeks ago I was able to place an order for my Classic. No chrome or Halcyon models yet so it will be Desert Sand. No word on delivery dates but last night someone reported that they were in their local dealership, so I’ll have mine soon!

The torque distribution in the low RPM is phenomenal
It's low end torque supply makes it whole a different machine
Now I wanna upgrade to 650cc upcoming cruiser or else if RE 500 if they launch in future

Upgrade will be for 650 engine only for sure. Otherwise it won't be upgrade from 350 cc 👍
Ah the famous RE mirrors! Perhaps Enfield should include some Loctite in the tool kit😉. An excellent demonstration of what the 350 j platform is capable of thank you 🙂

This is the best video I've seen in this week, month, year. Just so fascinating, both the bike and the end. We are tiny beings in this Universe, the place reminded us of the same. But our hunger to discover and conquer such landscapes are and will never be tiny. And we have perfect companions for that, our will to go on and our motorcycles.
