If you add a wind screen you not only will be more comfortable on the road but your top speed will increase. A wind screen will deflect the wind around you. As you sit on a motorcycle with outstretched arms on the handlebars you're essentially a big sail pushing against the wind. The wind screen fixes that. The smaller the motor the more effect you get.
How much better performance would you guess? Percentage wise.🤔
Absolutely! I was pleasantly surprised how much better my XR150 machine gets to top speed and how much better it pulls hills just from adding a windshield and not having the wind slam against you and using your body like a wind sail…lol. Plus it’s nice not to have the wind gusts from oncoming traffic try to blow you off as bad too!
from the stock 17t, i tried 16 and 18t. since i never go offroad, i got the most top end speed and fuel economy from the 18t. kept it on for 3 years now.
how much of an increase did you see in top speed with the 18T? I'm looking at getting one of these but need to squeeze some more speed out of it to be viable, I don't really have the money for anything bigger.
You can get a used xt250 for same price as one of these new, it’ll have a little bit more top end
So what top speed did you get w 18 t? Mine stock 16 barely makes 55mph..these guys dropped 2mph per sproky they went down and said 58 for 16 56 for 15 meaning at some point were at 60..,what can i do get mine 60 no way did the jet do that?
Thanks for sharing, That's good information.
I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate the measurements and simple install instructions/tips. Is that your dad? Cool to see him featured.
Yeah thts my dad! He is in majority of the videos as we share the same hobbies and passion for toys 😎 He in his 60s but can still hang lol. thanks for watching!
why dont u try changing out the black box and the spark plugs and the coil plz in the next set of videos
Thanks for the info. 🎉
The issue is the engine is high mass, so going down teeth won't do much to acceleration as the engine has a set RPM increase. I'd say do the 16 tooth, and drop the main jet to a 110. Seems like 115 is actually too rich and will drop your top end down. The carb is the limiting factor here as it's undersized and head probably doesn't flow that well. I think Honda did that on purpose for reliability and to keep the speed/power down for new riders.
Having run the 115 and the 110, I can confirm the 110 was better. 115 would bog under full throttle up hill.
Do y’all swap the pilot out as well or just the main jet
@@moneymovesmotors8758 I would go up one size on the pilot if cold starts are pretty long. Otherwise I'd leave it. Going to rich washes the cylinder of oil.
Just the main. Pilot is good.@@moneymovesmotors8758
Hey guys I'm in Manitoba Canada. 700 feet above sea level. I just ordered the jets. I yanked the Spark arrestor last summer. When I start this bike I have to run it for awhile before she wants to run smooth. It's annoying. I've seen most leave the pilot stock and change the main to either 110 or 115. Which combo would make my bike start better? Should I also try a size up on the pilot?
Hey bro. Thx for vid. I just hit 800 miles and reached 63 mph on flat road but I live in Fla at sea level.
I bought this bike and haven’t even test rode it. I have had a Honda 300l for 1 year with 50 miles on. I had no idea the top speed was only 62 mph
@@MikesGarageReviewswanna sell it
@@chadriddle3517 I was going to ask the same thing lol
THX
I have an xr 150L too 😮
Nice vid, was looking forward for this mod. Got a question about the torque, has it improved? I live in a city with lots of hills and would appreciate the increase in torque more than top speed
Wasn’t huge but definitely noticeable most noticeable on hills. Was more noticeable than the intake and exhaust mod. Definitely the best bang for buck mod for the bike. 15 tooth is good but 1st gear is super short so for city use we liked the 16tooth more. Best happy medium for us. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video. Please tell, what skid plate did you use?
Appreciate it! We went with the factory honda skid plate. Here is the video of it!

It has the part number in the video. Thanks for watching!😎🤘🏼
The muffler sounds good.. Is that a stock muffler? Planning to get this bike too, the main issue though is power.. So thanks for this informative video..
We modified the stock muffler. Power is definitely lacking being on par with my honda grom. You can see the exhaust mod video and all the other goodies we have done to the bike in my playlist I made for the bike! It also shows the race between the xr150l and the grom.

If mine ever blows up, im putting a 2stroke engine on it.
one thing I have herd is changing out to a 16t or 15t seems to eliminate the strange chain harmonics around 45mph the funny vibration the bike gets that you can power threw and it goes away or giving a little less gas it will go away ..have yall experienced this ?
I havent experience tht with the stock sprocket but honestly didnt have the stock sprocket on there long at all. Either way its definitely worth switching to the smaller front sprocket. It gives it a lot more umf down low for the money. 16tooth seems to be generally better for mostly on road little off road and 15 for heavier riders off road.
im 190 and when i tucked down i can get up to right under 70 and when im tucked going down hill it gets up too 72 which i think is maxed it cuz of the gearing or sproket and thats why im here lol for science
I’m a noob when it comes to wheelies, are you willing to make a how to video?
When it warms up here i definitely will dad is the king of wheelies and im trying to learn clutch ups. Will definitely make a vid of my learning process and dads pro tips coming spring time 😎🤘🏼
@@Floatsorrolls1 that would be cool! I’ve tried clutch ups with it from a stop and a slow roll, I don’t think I’m doing it right. Maybe not enough fuel or I’m not timing it right. I’ve seen some people say you have to compress the forks first. Some pro dad tricks sound perfect lol.
Have you tried going to a slightly bigger sprocket to see if you can get over 60
Have not done up on the sprocket but have heard guys going up one tooth and getting slightly better top end
How much do you and your dad weigh? And you height please...
👍🏼 Thanks for the video
Im 6’ 200pounds
Dads 6’5” 300pounds
Thanks for watching 😎🤘🏼
@@Floatsorrolls1 Awesome, thanks! I'm 6'10" and 300lbs. Bike looks like all I want.
My XR150 hits 73 on flat and 80 downhill
You must weigh 100lbs! Lol
Really though, cool! How'd you do it?

Looks like he’s drafting on the highway to hit those speeds. With a tailwind and drafting these speeds are possible.
Cap
Really?
Is that gps or indicated
Gps
Me and my girl fully stock get going at 55 I'm bigger than u bro so how are the mods messing you up?
Not messing up? its gearing bike down for better acceleration. Also makes it better for offroad. If your goal is higher top speed you should be increasing sprocket size. Only reason we test top speed is to see how much the top speed is affected by gearing it down.
@Floatsorrolls1 I meant before the swap when he was doing the tests it's just odd me and my girl 300+ pounds on a stock bike were realistically getting a higher top speed so unless he did more mods before that point that would add torque and drop top speed it's just weird
@@13194dragon there is variation in top speed between xr150ls as big as 5mph based from the forums. On wht people are getting flat ground low wind top speed. From what ive seen top speed for most guys is 55-60mph max on flat ground. Ours did 60mph stock sprocket but with intake mod, exhaust mod and rejet? Does kinda sound like im saying 50mph in the video tho. Also seen alot on forums and noticed it with my grom that after like 600 miles or so its top speed can increase as the engine breaks in. Lastly I think that variation in top speed definitely is affected by a persons elevation. If yours will go faster than 60mph flat ground you got one of the faster xr150ls lol 😎
@Floatsorrolls1 that's crazy man I'm ngl I haven't even done 600 mile maintenance on oil changes I'm up to 3000 miles but mine rarely sees off road use it's just daily driver 😅 but still that's kinda crazy since I'm an idiot and broke the engine in for like 300 mile with the choke on
Only oil changes lol
55-59 MPH, really, Honda HR 150 is that much slow??🥺🥺
Yah she is definitely not a speed demon lol but for the money its a neat bike you can have fun with on and off road! If your planning 100% street i think some other option honda sell are a better fit but for those who want both its a great bike if you no hungry for some power. If your looking to mod it out performance wise i think the crf300l is a better alternative for power. Cost factoring. Thanks for watching!
Looks like Batavia!
How’d you know!!? Lol
