Sir, I have been subscribed to your channel for a wee while; however, it is only recently that I have had the chance to watch any videos. I thank you for taking the time to film, and then share with us, your training videos. You have a very calm way with the dogs, and I will be watching and learning from more of your work.
This video resonates with me as I have a Working Cocker who was not ready for any proper training until well past 15 months.

I wish I would have known this when my latest springer pup arrived. She exhibited similar behaviors when training started. Now at 2 we are still having some issues of confidence. I am in it for the long haul and now she sets the pace for what we do and learn next.

Training is always too much pressure for some dogs,it's an issue that's becoming more common unfortunately.

springerspanielful I here ya, I've seen this in other breeds, German shorthairs, too.
My pup comes from great stock(I own the mom and hunt with the grandmother and brothers) the stud we picked w
Appeared to be a great dog but the litter has issues. Not just my pup. Work / fun will continue.
Springers ,in my opinion are the best! 😀

Being jet black, the Cocker was hard for me to see the signs you explained. However, I was impressed with the habit / interest that it displayed at the hup. The dog's eyes were glued to you showing me that it has a willing to please and awaiting your instructions. Very important as opposed to one that will not give you it's full attention. Am I wrong here? I have seen well trained but "high strung" dogs that are always on the edge when working.

He's willing to please alright, but not yet ready for the pressure of training,he's too immature,to gain that maturity I'll be letting him hunt at will, then hopefully when ready I'll start again.

Cocker v Springer , Needy v Leeder . Getting a Cocker to sit still is a lottery. I think you done well with this fella George . Nice video 👌 How have these two progressed?

Both went on to be good gundogs, the cocker turned out to be an exceptional dog.

great video, thanks. would this apply for a house dog? getting a springer spaniel puppy soon, was planning to start basic training for living in the house with a family, like crate training and sit and stay. are the dogs in this video house dogs?

A spaniel can make a great house dog, however they need firm training and dicipline because of their high level of hunting drive.

@@springerspanielful Thank you. I'm wondering if you would wait 6 months to train a house dog? My plan so far is to begin to do some basic house training immediately at 8 weeks when I get her.
