  • Today we go out to shop around for the best deal in Pattaya for tonight's room. We visit 10 Pattaya Hotels and compare rates and contrast amenities and eventually check-in to what I think is both the best deal and also maybe the most interesting property, proving you need to shop around for a good deal.

Wow ! excellent 3 part video series with a heck of a lot of information to digest. We normally stay 1 week at a Hotel in Bangkok and Pattaya but seeing your Hotel tour I think next trip I will spread it out over 3 or 4 Hotels a couple of nights in each. We usually stay in the D Varee Jomtien Beach, nice and quiet there at night. Thanks Lucas excellent video as usual and I can't wait to see your next show.

adding some info about AVANI and Barracuda. AVANI is not "guest friendly" meaning if you "meet" someone cute and want to bring her to your room for a 'friendly conversation,' Avani staff will stop you, and charge you a GUEST fee. Barracuda is guest-friendly, they will not bother you.

Usually access to club room, free breakfast, snacks, drinks, evening small buffet, unlimited espresso. Also access to boardroom and area for business meetings. Different criteria but things like early check in and late check out plis free upgrades to rooms. Different way of doing hotels but would be good to see you do a series in this segment

I spent one night in Blackwood in May. Nick from another YT channel had made a video of the hotel. I do not recommend the hotel. The room was OK, a little weird in a good way but the biggest problem was the soundproofing. While the hotel was perhaps 5% of capacity, I heard everything being discussed in one of the rooms next door. The best part of the hotel is the location as well as the garage lift. But: Blackwood - never again.

I have to agree with you on that choice. Something I've kinda noticed with Thailand is if there is a new opening on a hotel they usually run some great deals. I was able to book the Racha 5 star hotel on a private island for 7 nights at under 50 usd for private villa right on the beach with 2 nights free. So only 250 usd for the 7 nights. That was many years ago now you can't even get 1 night for that price. I was also able to book Millennium in Bangkok when it first opened for under 60 usd for an executive suite. Not sure what that would cost today but I'm guessing a pretty penny. You need to catch these hotels when they first open up.

I think I should have asked these questions at the start of the series. Lets try and see if you can answer or pass...
Do you have to take the room they give you or can you request a room you want?
Can you come with a guess from out side (wink wink and may be different guess at different time for a month stay) or do they not allow that?
Can you cancel regular room cleaning in morning for a different time of day or is there a window time for that?
Also can you order in food or do you have to stick to there choices?
    thx..

I worked at a hotel in Samui back in 2005 and most of these online booking companies wanted the hotel to sign contracts saying they wouldn’t sell rooms for less than the online companies rates. Not sure how they would know what the hotel actually sold to walk-ins for but that’s probably why some say they can’t beat the online price.

I don't know if being just below the pool is a good idea. I was once on a hotel in that configaration (somewhere around soi10-13 near beach road) and the pool should habe been closed by 9 or 10 pm but every night there was korean boys making party up there until 2am or so and they wasn't quiet either.

I'm here again. Serious question how many of your followers would you expect to be in this range?

I think probably 25-30 percent of people traveling here opt for a hotel in this price range.
