If you own CDYA engine code version of 3.0Tdi (plus some other specific versions) DO NOT turn over your engine to prime fuel system after filter change. You need dealer software / VCDS or equivalent to run the electric fuel pump a few cycles to prime the fuel system. Turning over some of the 3.0 Tdi’s without priming first runs the high pressure pump while it is dry. This may cost £1000’s to repair if the HPFP then goes later down the line after running it with no fuel - because when they go the spew shards of metal into the entire fuel system, pumps, injectors and back to fuel tank.
If in doubt, CHECK your engine code and whether it needs electronic pre-priming after a filter change!

Mate.... I’ve search everywhere to find info on this sump washer! Mine came off as a big washer and rubber Oring. The manual just showed a washer? Unknown if it was metal or rubber. The new one came with nothing at all, and I had to source this washer and couldn’t find advise and the 20 other Q7 services I watched, so thanks!! You even tell me which way round to put the washer. Obviously my Q had a retro fit 😡 you’re a Life saver 🙌

All VAG cars reset the service warning on dash by holding down the dash reset trip miles button before turning on ignition. Hold the button down for 5 seconds then turn ignition and hold for 5 more. Maybe start engine I cant remember 100% but it works on all VAG. Saves the scan tool process.

To add to this, to my understanding it resets it to the non-long life service interval (15000km if I remember right), so if you want to use the flexible interval, you need the obd tool. Personally I wouldn't use the long life intervals even in a new car, especially on a turbo engine, but that's just my opinion.

@@E69apeTheMatrix420 I bet, it's not something unheard of. But I trust my own experience and the Audi and other VAG clubs and communities that have serious hobbyists. Long life service cycle will end up having more sludge etc. in the oil, and the oil channels in turbo are quite tiny. Had one 1.9TDI myself that started to have problems with it's turbo (and had been on long life cycle before), aroubd 250k (km). Those engines are known to last forever, so that was a warning sign for me.
Also, I must note that I live in Finland, so the temperatures variate between -30 to +35 celcius during the year.

    • @diydaly

@@diydaly The weird thing is that is is not leaking any diesel. It must some how suck in air while running. I can only imagine this happening: 1. In the fuel pump assembly in the fueal tank. 2. Due to suction of the high pressure fuel pump.
