- In this video we carry out a refurbishment on this grubby looking set of late 1980's Technics stereo speakers.
This includes replacing the damaged speaker cone dust covers, Tidying up the box cases and changing the mesh grilles covers.
All of this whilst trying to maintain the original appearance of the units and keeping them going for years to come.

Vintage & retro audio equipment is getting more and more collectible.
These particular speakers are in good working order when it comes to sound output. However, They are let down by the physical condition that they are in.
Obviously with any older Hi-Fi equipment, They need servicing to keep working as they were intended.
Restoring these speakers back to how they should be, Keeps them alive for people to appreciate this era of audio equipment.

I love the look and sound of these older units.
Yeah, They look great. These particular speakers aren't too bad sounding. I've got a set of more modern bowers & wilkins and you can tell the speaker technology has improved.
Nice!
Thank you.
Nice👍
Thank you. Its appreciated. 🙂
Do you test them prior refurb? Any bad caps? Do they sound the same tonally? Would be great to see that aspect.
Yeah, I always make sure they sound ok first. To be fair, This video was mainly aimed at tidying the aesthetics of the speakers. Purely because they sounded like they had no distortion or sound issues. I will definitely look in to doing more in depth. I have a set of generic Sony speakers, That I may do something with.
Nice job. Where u got the dust caps to buy?
Thank you. These particular ones were purchased on Amazon.
