    This is a very feature rich low cost preamp, you get HDMI on a device under 100 dollars which is unheard of. This is a great starting point in putting together a sound bar replacement, pick the amp and speakers of your choosing and your ready to go.

    This is kind of a wild little preamp, tons of features and I feel like offering this up without the internal amp was the way to go. If your interested they are on sale now for 20% off.

      I agree with your comment though ... 2 or more line inputs would just make it better.

    This is a very cool, fully featured little pre-amp. Just add my own amp and streamer and DONE! Thank you, Matt!

      Agreed. The more thoughtful and critical the better. Not everything is "the best new thing ever" and nothing should be sold that way.

    One of my ❤'S! Why am I seeing it so late though? I put this Arylic on my TV with the V3. HDMIarc FTW here! Also, got my A07 MAX units in... And that - reply coming forthwith. Good stuff!

    Another great review. Does outputs can be select by app or what every output which phigically connected and play ?

    Nice! This is what they're good at! I hope they keep improving the software, providing more (and better) features, like more bass management (crossover) frequencies you mentioned. Also maybe there will be a pro version with trigger in/out and coaxial in so i can connect my cd player 😀.

      I completely agree and hope so too! If 2023 has shown us anything there is always room for a "Pro" version ha

    When you reviewed this preamp did you test the Bluetooth transmit mode ? I just purchased one and cannot get this function to work. I have followed the directions but cannot get the headphones I’m transmitting to available in the device list in Spotify or Amazon music, any suggestions.

    Hi! Can you tell me if the BP50 preamp will take the BT signal from (not to) my laptop to the preamp?

    Does the unit graphically display volume? Always annoying to not know the volume before playing music

    Good stuff Matt! I’m still not sure if I want to use something like this to replace the Amazon link amp I’m using for the basic upstairs setup or if I wanna go with a pair of powered speakers (like the vanatoo). Either way this was a good review to add to my usual list of way too much research before I finally decide, thanks!

      Yeah, it can be tricky when you go down the rabbit hole, I would suggest look for the features that are a must for you, dont compromise there and then balance the right blend of wants....looks, size, cost ect...

    Not bad at all! Would this be a reasonable choice as the DAC component in a budget set-up? e.g. vs an SMSL SU-1 or similar? I was thinking that plugging a chromecast into the HDMI would by itself provide streaming over wifi and give better sound than bluetooth. Anyone have thoughts on if this would work?

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You are onto the right path here, if you can skip the Bluetooth connection its likely for the better.

    If you use RCA in ONLY (and out), you loose Access to all features/customization right? the APP and remote features ONLY work on the digital realm (when using internal dac), correct?

    Now I am torn between the b50, or this bp50 with a fosi v3 amp for the soundbar replacement. 🤔

    I am on my 3rd Arylic BP50 and they all are doing the same thing. Randomly no sound so I have to rest or turn off and back on then it is fine. Just never know when it will cut off sound. Funny thing the sub out still works when the sound goes out. Any Ideas ? This happens on all outputs.

      Curious if it’s some type of protection, running it on any out of the ordinary speakers?

    • @DuaneMarchand
      @DuaneMarchand Před 7 měsíci

      I am using a HP laptop I5 as source. HDMI out to tv HDMI in (non-smart tv). The Arylic connects from laptop by a USB C port to PC input on Arylic and Shows on unit display as DAC. @@MattCoykendall1

  • @Douglas_Blake_579
    @Douglas_Blake_579 Před 9 měsíci +1

    A pre-amp only device is likely the best choice with everything else that's going on. I have always preferred to have the parts that change (dac, streamer, bt, etc.) separate from the parts that don't (power amp, turntable, etc.). At least then you don't have to change *everything* just to have the latest something.
    The increasing reliance upon 'Apps" is a bit concerning. As someone who does not have and would have no other use for a cellphone, this places a lot of functionality out of reach. I'm not about to buy something I don't want just to use something I do want. It's just a bit ridiculous.
    Of course the same problem exists with stuff you can't even turn on and off without the remote control... Really, who would make a TV/Display without a "standby" mode in it? But here we are.
    SMSL has the right idea with their clickable volume controls and built in displays... Hopefully the rest of the industry will take the hint.

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I agree, last thing you want to do is change everything when maybe your only looking for a very particular upgrade or feature. The app trend is hard to avoid at this point, I have a feeling we will see more and more of that trend. SMSL basically sets the standard for screens, they certainly have that covered.

      This is my big beef with powered speakers. Unless you have a spare set sitting around, any failure deprives you of both speaker and power-amp. Separates just make more sense.

      As it becomes more standard, I think you'll see a lot of companies adding it. Just like optical and USB inputs are now, just part of the kit.
