Stevie Nicks brought me here
Of course she did❤️
Ana Luiza Brown me too!
The song was written about a piano teacher called Francesca (Frances) who was a Wiccan and lived in Church Village near Cardiff in Wales. She taught Stevie Nicks the piano some Latin and French and about the Goddess.
@@nigelsheppard625 Thanks for the info!
Sorta cept for books.
Rhiannon: okay so let's just put him in a bag and beat him up
The Prince: ok sounds good
Truly a most clever and noble plan
😂😂😂
Seriously, screw those maids. "We're sorry mam, but you....ATE YOUR BABY. Oh yes, terrible, terrible.."
Ekter ya wtf
I want my baby back baby back riiiiibs!
They also killed 3 puppies
LMFAO
I really wanted to know what happened to them after they found the son. Like are we just gonna forget they lied??? Off with their heads!
Heres my child. His name is Anxiety.
Rhianon is might be a real historical figure..or it could be just Rumours..
I saw what you did there.
🤣🤣
Worst joke ever
bahaha i love this
Right over my head.
That king of the underworld was Arawn, and after he and Pwyll swaped places, they became good friends when Arawn discovered that even though Pwyll had evey oppurtunity to sleep with his wife, he didn't, because Pwyll is a true bro. That is why he named Pwyll "the head of Annwn", which was an honorary title that basically meant he was a good friend and champion of the king of Annwn.
The Horned King This sounds like a fantasy book series I’ve read.
I know this story well about Rhiannon & Pwyll.
The Horned King Loyalty is hard to come by.
Master chief will still kill em
spudthepug chronicales of Prydain is loosely based
*All your life you've never seen a woman*
*Taken by the wind*
that song started playing in my head as soon as i saw the title of the video.
george johnson lol, same.
Would you stay is she promised you heaven?
Will you ever win?

""She rides through the night and brings light and beauty back to the world."
Rhiannon is the Moon, the Moon Goddess, the white owl in the night, the pale goddess on her white horse. For further descriptions of Rhiannon as the moon goddess in the night sky, go watch & listen to the expert: Stevie Nicks.
aka lilith
She's not an expert ,but she is knowledgeable. Most people don't understand why they are drawn to certain things ..they don't understand their DNA .
And when we do understand, society labels us as evil and wrong.
The Mabinogi (or Mabinogian) is short and can be easily read in one or two days. I LOVED it. Also it has the earliest mention of Arthur.
Diolch am gwneud chwedl Rhiannon a Pwyll.
Thank you for doing the tale of Rhiannon & Pwyll.
Mae’r enw Pwyll ddim yn cael ei ddweud fel yn yr fideo, yw e?
Didn't Rhiannon ring like a bell through the night?
Sorry about that, this video deserves better, but I couldn't help myself.

I WAS GONNA SAY THIS
She's also like a cat in the dark, but then she is the darkness
Apology accepted.
She also rules her life like a fine skylark and then she is the darkness.
The art is just beautiful. I can see what attracted Stevie to this legend. I never heard it before.
I was actually a little disappointed he left out the part where Arawn finds out Pwyll never slept with his wife the whole time he was there. It's kinda why he gets his title
Well this is Rhiannon, not Pwyll
total bro move right there
So I have a copy of the Mabinogion and it has been so useful for coming up with elven city names for D&D
I have a Mage named Rhiannon from DnD 2nd edition. I knew some Celtic Mythos before that Fleetwood Mac song but still had to explain the name.
I'd like to see you show the "Tyr na N'og" or land of eternal youth. Great story of Oisin and Neve.
A similar Deity to Epona, who guided souls to the afterlife by giving them a horse to ride with her.
Bruno Franco Link’s horse?
@Joachim Hohenzollern Epona has diferent atributes. Sometimes associated with war, sometimes fertility, sometimes the afterlife.
Yes, when I was a child I played in an old Roman temple ruin, where they also worshiped Epona. She was an important goddess for the tribe that lived there and was called Treveri.
Legend of Zelda is not original as I thought
For anyone who wants to read a great retelling of all four branches of the Mabinogion involving Rhiannon, her son, Manawydden and others they should read Evangeline Walton's great tetralogy consisting of The Prince of Annwn, The Children of Llyr, The Song of Rhiannon and The Island of the Mighty. She stays true to the original stories but fills in a lot of blank space with motivation and observation while keeping continuing themes running through them. Originally published complete almost fifty years ago it may be hard to find. My copy is from a reprint from 2004 but I vividly remember reading them when Ballantine published them back in the early 70's. Take it from someone who has been reading sci-fi and fantasly for almost sixty years, you won't regret searching them out. Gorgeous writing.
Thank you for your post. I read her books about forty years ago and I couldn't recall her name. Now I can search them out again.
Will you please do a video on Branwen next? 🙏🏻
I have two daughters: The younger one is named Rhiannon and the older one is named Branwen. 😊
I have a Rhiannon and a Brynn
I love that 💓
“Are you sure beating the bag will make him yield?”
“Oh, it’ll make him yield. I put A LOT of salt and vinegar potato chips in there.”
“...I’m so in love with you right now...”
“You can tell me later.”
You can just ask someone for their wife and if they slip up you get their wife?
No wonder people were miserable. They just accept anything said to them. You ate your own babies. Gimme your wife. Also here's your baby back.
You must imagine Gwawl disguised as a beggar or common man and Pwyll saying something like, "anything you ask for, since it is such a joyful day. in fact, I give you my word." And then Gwawl revealing his face or even transforming, grinning evily.
I'd imagine before this story was christianised the bishop at the end would have been a Druid, or, the welsh equivalent of essentially that idea.
You would imagine.
@@crywlf9103 If you have a bunch of pre-christianisation celtic folklore, please do share it. Otherwise, stop being a jackass, because such a thing doesn't exist, so we have to take the information we do have and draw reasonable conclusions..
Thank you. Of all the Celtic goddesses, Rhiannon is my favorite.
Ah, Welsh mythology. Ignored only for one reason, and that's because of those who think Welsh is difficult to learn. When it isnt.
Mae'n hard as fuckiau yn fy marn i.
Mutations for one.
@@TheAlmightyAss Mutations are irrelevant. They're one of those things you get right with experience, but aren't vitally important. They add a bit more fluency to the spoken language, but people will always understand you if you get them wrong.
Welsh is no more difficult to learn than any other language. It's probably easier to learn than English.
Welsh can be difficult for some, let's not be too militant about this.
It's pretty simple actually.
1. Learn british
2. Skip a letter every here n there
3. Get drunk
@@kidakcus7874 There are several British languages.
I find this so interesting being a horsewoman myself and named after Rhiannon
Good name to have...I named one of mine the same.
I know a horse named Rhiannon!
My middle name's Rhiannon and I love horses as well haha
I'm an equestrian myself and named my daughter Rhiannon when she was born during the tornadoes on December 11th, 2021 (it has a Wikipedia page if you care to remember that storm...it killed quite a few ppl unfortunately). As they were leaving this world, she was entering. She was taken by the wind. 🤍
Maybe RhiRhi is like a diwata (they're nature deities in Filipino mythology) she doesn't seem to be a god but she's not quite human either. Diwatas are like that. Just a thought.
the greeks had the concept of "daemons" for that. semigods, kinda
I think She is a Goddess, but this myth IS told post-Christianity, so that's the perspective this is written from. Also, I've been wanting to learn more about the old Filipino religions. (I know there were a lot of Muslims, like in Mindanao, but I mean O-L-D school religion.) Pilipino ka ba?
Mannawyddan ap Lyr. One of my favorite deities. This story certainly puts his wisdom on full display!
I am from North Wales and proud of my Celtic heritage great video dude
I was about to say that I’m sure she’s linked to Epona
You should have played an insturmental version of the Fleetwood Mac song in the background
That would be awesome 😊
That would be expensive! 🤣🤣🤣
A bardcore version 😃
@@MikRubin one may still get striked but it’s an awesome idea! I would definitely listen! 🤗
*"You should not have come here human, why have you crossed into my domain?"*
"I was hunting with my pals but I had to pee and I got lost."
*"YOU ENDED UP IN MY MAGICAL RELM OF SECRETS ON YOUR WAY TO TAKE A LEAK!?!"*
"I am not a clever person"
Very fascinating! Up until now, I thought Rhiannon was just the name of a good Stevie Nicks song.
Thank you so much!!!
I just downloaded a copy of the Mabinogian. I have always wanted to read the original Taleisin.
Your work and research into this area, the stories of my ancestors, is much appreciated sir.
A year and a day has a lot of meaning/power in Celtic folklore.
Yes, in many cultures, New Orleans for one corpses are taken out of their coffins and stored in the mausoleum after a year and a day, supposedly this is enough time for corruption to take place . It’s a magical number.
Thank you so much for this!! I’m trying to find more Celtic and Irish mythology, goddesses and gods and their stories ect online! But I can’t find anything!!! This was so helpful! Please do more!
It is pronounced "hree-ANN-on." Rh is one letter in Cymraeg. Rh makes the "hre" sound.
I'm 100% sure that Tolkien used this as the basis for his story, Beren & Luthien
Thank you for this enjoyable and informative video. Can you add anything about her connection with birds?
Source of the bag of holding lol
I kept seeing the name Rhiannon when I was pregnant with my daughter.
Did you name her rhiannon?
Modern Mage I probably should have but instead went with the only name my husband would agree to. Plus her middle name.
I did as well and named my daughter Rhiannon
Rhiannon, a beautiful Welsh name
If I had a daughter I would have given her that name but I only had sons!
My granddaughter is named Rhiannon
This is a fantastic story. Love it!
I wish I could send you an audio file of mispronunciations but also thank you for having a go and shedding light on these amazing stories from Cymru!
I like the images. So enjoyable!
Well done on the prounoncation I know for that LL as u did as it isn't easy for english speaker's or if anyone that's not heard it spoken as we do have a sound based language.
Da iawn!
whats the reason for your user name? im curious
She's similar to Epona and Valkeries

the red dragon ! Cornwall RINGS A BELL !
I read The Mabinogion decades ago without realising it's Welsh. Only now I find out, thank you. Great video.
So relieved that this ended happily :)
I must note, the mabinogian is not correct, that's a grouping of stories that the mabinogi, the actual set of stories, was amongst, it was compiled much later and contains other stories as well
Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night.....And wouldn't you love to love her?
Love the pictures, and the story teller 🤩
Have you done one for Cernunnos yet?
Gteat video i really enjoyed it. Thankyou
The story of disappearing wheat is almost like what happens every 50 years or less in Mizoram, my home
Um... what?
@@Owen_Morgan I guess he just has a problem with women dressed as mice stealing his crops. What's strange about that?
This story connect to Branwen. Would plz cover Branwen next?
Ayyy it's krosan restorer in the thumbnail. I knew I recognized it
Your saying their names incorrectly but good job👍 The Mabinogion is still taught in 🏴.
Yes, I would love to love her.
My name is rhiannon man i love my name. :)
I watched this twice and still couldn’t get the names straight. But from what I did understand, this was a pretty crazy tale.
Oh wow . That’s an amazing story. My Mother’s family ancestry is from Wales . So no wonder I am naturally intrigued.
Can you please do one on Tristan and Isolde?
Their Welsh names are Trystan ag(and) Esyllt 😊
And here I was thinking it was just a name in a song
I love these videos. Particularly the Celtic ones. I find I’d like to know how the names are spelt. This seems well scripted. I think it might be a good thing to add it as a more correct closed captions.
There were Celts in Gaul (France), too.....not just Wales and Ireland.
Woah

I love mythology from all over the world, but Celtic mythology is my favorite. ✨🌙🌿✨
I look for this town with the rolling hills that is one acre with a stable and a black smith
The painting of Pwyll on the throne; which actor does he look like?
Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin and many other great musicians were in to Irish and Celtic mythology. There's a Brazilian band called Tuathe De Danaan. Awesome tunes.
Fun fact, Robert Plant bought Crowley's old home b/c he was into occultism.
Irish and Celtic!? 😩 Irish are Celtic.
That's like saying Welsh and British are good....The Welsh (British = Bythonic, with Brythonic being a different Celtic Branch. Another Words....Cymro Britons amd Irish are both Celtic) are the The British people. The English have convinced alot of the world they are British at the expense of the Native people.

What an interesting story! Otherworldly and dimensional 'magic' and beings... Perhaps from other planets.. Or dimensions...
Things slipping in and then out from another realm.
Who here clicked on this because of the song? I know I did. I learned something along the way. Great vid.

Did you say Gwent? *pulls out deck*
There is a place called Gwent in south wales
Awesome! I'm quite partial to the name lol
Rhiannon Rambles & Readings hey me too
You guys shut your mouths, it's such a cool name
This is a story about an old Welsh witch.
No it's not
Árón de Siún I’m pretty sure the one Stevie was talking about was just named after Rhiannon, but sole witches do believe in Rhiannon
The song made Rhiannon a villain, when she really isn't... Mostly
I see the song about a free spirit.
The song Rhiannon is about a witch. Stevie just saw the name in a book & thought it was beautiful & wanted to make her a strong powerful witch. The goddess Rhiannon & the song Rhiannon have nothing to do with each other. My name is Rhiannon btw, ive done a lot of research on my name lol

This is the extension of eden meru,
(And the story of ragnarok), it is more true than most people know...
Hey, great video but you either forgot an artist or misattributed something. The thumbnail art(at the time of my viewing) and first picture of the video is by Clyde Caldwell for a magic card and is copyrighted by him and WOTC. Just an FYI.
Ah thank you. Sometimes it can be tricky to track down sources.
