I’m near the end of the video and I’m not sure if Matt will figure out that Guinea pigs is just a euphemistic phrase to describe test subjects in general, ie humans, or if he keeps thinking this is all about actual Guinea pigs. It’s delightful either way. He may have already figured this out and I missed it, but either way it’s hilarious
While I know you're correct, this is also Umbrella, where I would absolute not discount the possibility of some unhinged researcher driving literal guinea pigs to mass suicide and gloating about it.

The funniest thing about this game's plot is that all the people involved here seem to believe that Umbrella would be concerned about the murder of a couple test subjects.
Exactly. To Umbrella both their test subjects and employees are expendable. The game trying to make Vincent super OTT comically evil is funny.
@@Xehanort10 And the fact of the matter is, he should be well aware of this, and the fact that if he played his cards right, he might've come out of this a hero. After all, the termination of escaping subjects protects company secrets. Instead, this genius creates another outbreak, which is just another mess that Umbrella is going to have to spend time and resources cleaning up. No one really thought this through.
1:16 Since you commented on the "uncontrollable": I love that the very next sentence of the text crawl describes Umbrella doing something to control the outbreak. Admittedly, wiping out the entire town is radical, but it *is* controlling the outbreak

My copy (UK) had full lightgun support send was encouraged to play with a lightgun. Plus, the whole point of the game was that it was to be played with a lightgun.
Only in USA lightgun support was removed. In Europe you can play with lightgun.

I totally thought this was an on-rail shooter, this is like a weird fps. I actually want to play it now.
Definitely do so. I picked it on at Walmart back in the early 00s, it was clunky but also thoroughly enjoyable for all it tried to do and every flaw/quirk. There's a bit of replay value as well with the multiple paths and endings, my friends and I would breeze through it and make a lot of jokes along the way.
It's not that bad. It's extremely short.
I know this is a janky RE Game, but as a kid being a lightgun enthusiast growing up I played this so much. Finished it over 10 times ending up with sore arms 😸
I still have an old huge CRT in my room specifically setup for this game, the other RE lightgun games and the Dino Crisis, Time Crisis, Point Blank and other lightgun games. It really sucks with a controller but I grew up in Ireland and have several different lightguns under my bed.
Sadly the US version of the game didn't have support for the light fun cause of fun violence controversies at the time (nothing changes it seems.) So I never got to try it with one myself. Did play the second one with one though.

I want to point out the entire reason this Vincent guy exists is to have a connection to Resident Evil 2 as he was sent to this city by Leon Kennedy who Vincent is friends with. Honestly it just feels like a cheap attempt to make Survivor important to the series lore when in retrospect it’s really not as this game’s events and Vincent are never mentioned again in the mainline series

There is a twist in the game that the main character is actually the spy and the blonde hair guy hanging from the helicopter was actually Vincent. So, the main character was never evil, just thought he was Vincent due to his memory loss and some guy thinking he was Vincent.
Why would you spoil that there's a twist in the game? I didn't read what you said beyond that point because stealing experiences from people is quite awful.
@@luliby2309 For one, this is a very old game and probably one of the worst RE games out there. Besides, it’s pretty easy to guess what’s going to happen. This game has much less of a story than the other games. I think the most entertainment value people get from this game tends to be laughing at its expense and incompetence.

The Darkside Chronicles was my first Resident Evil, since I was too much of a scaredy cat to play the mainline games. While rail shooters might not be for everybody, I love how this and Umbrella Chronicles were able to carry the campy spirit of the series!

The only thing I remember from this game was an underground passageway where every five steps a new Mr. X would appear for you to shoot. It was at that moment that I realized this game might suck.

This idea could have worked if not for bad direction. Resident Evil could do both horror and action separately but Capcom lacks the talent

Always with the rusted keys, c'mon people, a little oil isn't that much to ask.
So according to the RE fan wiki, the Umbrella soldiers are “UnderTakers” or “Trashsweepers,” they’re technically BOWs because they’ve been engineered to dissolve upon death so they leave no trace when cleaning up Umbrella’s messes and have never appeared in any other RE game.
A fun (but not so fun) fact.: Only Japanese and European version is compatible with GunCons. USA version don't because of Columbine school "thing"...

As bad as the first Survivor game is, the second one is even worse.
Was rated as one of the worst games on PS2 even.
Survivor 2 takes place during Code Veronica and has some of the most awful gameplay and graphics.

If u look away from the zombies they can't damage you.
I think every enemy can damage you from behind. EXCEPT the hunters, you just spin round while shooting them and they can't hurt you.

I’d never heard of this until TripleJump played it on Worst Games Ever a couple years ago, they were also completely baffled by the half-jaguar Umbrella soldiers who deflate when you shoot them.

Dead Aim has GunCon2 support and with one is a fun experience. It is unfortunate they removed lightgun support from the non-Japanese version of this one.

to home ports, it was just oddly Resident Evil Survivor in the US only have that feature removed .
But I know we don't see guncon games today, not if your a retro gamer or have your own customize guncon arcade at home
Believe it or not this game is canon, it is mention in the RE0 intro so there's that.
Actually this is my favorite RE game of all time and my first time playing the franchise too. The story is a little darker and edgier than the classic games, too bad it is told exclusevely through the diaries and not shown.
Good to see that more people play this game, it is bad in many ways, but it is a "so bad is good" kind of game.

I enjoy this game for what it is. I got it thinking the US version had gun support but it was taken out. Heard it was taken out because of Columbine, which stinks but kinda understandable at the time.
Sorry to bring y’all down but: Good grief, why does everyone keep saying “at the time” as if somehow this was a one-off event that hasn’t repeated? There have been over 300 mass shootings in the USA THIS YEAR (2022) and it’s only October.

Short answer, no, its not the worst resident evil game of all time. That would be its sequel based on code veronica for arcades and ps2, or the ngage exclusive degeneration game. Heck i rather play this than zero wich i cant bring myself to play because i hate the inventory system.
