    22:09 a tip is lay a rope down in the trailer deck then load the brush on top, when you need to unload it you can wrap it around everything and tie it to a tree or big stump and drive away pulling out the brush

    • @josuecaleb5053
      @josuecaleb5053 Před 14 dny +1

      this is similar to what I do when doing work in the yard. I put a rope down in the wheelbarrow, throw brush on it, then use the rope once I'm where I want to dump it to pull it off. On a larger scale like what you mentioned, tying it to a tree and driving off is a perfect way to go about it.

    Well Done! says this NELMA lumber inspector with 25 yrs in the lumber/building trades. The frame of the house is still solid. The wood looks to be spruce and machine cut, so the original house date seems correct. I note an addition that brings out the roof line. The stairs up are a treat and a danger with the SMALL landing--but the French Windows and seat are a fine touch. IF I might suggest- when you repair the double windows, re-glaze them with stained glass pieces. It will block the view of the road, and add both colour and interest to the room. I share your work and feelings for this house, I have spent 08 yrs restoring an 1815/1886 "I" House here in New England.

    Come spring, finish the foundation. That priority one. Priority two, the collapsed over hanging roof for the porch needs to be taken down and replaced. Once that is all done, you are looking at late spring early summer (in my mind). Once those two are done. Gut the inside, start fresh. Depending on how you want to make the cabin and such.
    I am happy for you that you are restoring an old piece of American history. You may be able to find grants for this or if this is in a historical district there may be more free money to grab at.

      yeah, I purchased a house built in 1922 and it was "taken care of" and lived in up until the day I got the keys and way in similar shape to this cabin, never abandoned. As well the original house was added on to in 1979 and they added on top of the preexisting roof and shingles. the shingles on this cabin are similar or maybe newer than the ones on my house so no chance this cabin has been sitting since anytime at least before the 80's

    Love the work man it's always good watching a professional I'm nowhere near that level due to a lack of good tools but I've been slowly building my collection more and more and with every job I've done I get better on the fly like patching some holes in my floor I had 4 to patch 3 being circle-ish about 2 inches in diameter I just cut plugs for them and glued the last being about 2 inches wide and 6 long that one I realized I should have tapered the hole and do an opposite taper on the plug so it could support itself

    Subscribed to see how this goes.
    I would suggest planing on doing the whole foundation in section over the next spring and summer before you get into interior finish stuff. I’m down in MA in 1893 construction, the stones much larger here but more or less the same problem. You’ll notice once you’ve fixed the section you’ve got and it’s on a proper footing that the rest of the foundation may settle with that thaw and freeze differently. Obviously if you started installing drywall, you’d notice it getting messed up.
    Good luck brother, build your piece of the American dream.

    The safety police hate that you put in too little reinforcement in the foundation. I love that you're improving the foundation the best you can without breaking the bank. Whatever you do will keep the house up longer than it would have lasted without you changing anything.

    I would use some clear heavy plastic to cover windindowa and openings to keep weather and critters out were possible and use plywood to close the floor openings up. Once foundation is at least sol to be temporay shoring in place it is well worth getting a temporay power option in place to make working on the place easier. This coming alive every time a new video comes out. Keep up the awesomne work saving this gem.
