31:15 I vote instead of Sky Toss with High Templar, we just call it High Toss.
How about High Sky?
How about Sky High? 🤔
@@joshexpressingdreams xD
Is having High templars aomething like having Highground? In that case, just throw your lightsaber 😁
Sky-High Toss
"Bet you forgot this was actually a Best of 5 series, huh?"
:o yep
Protoss and Zerg Mains: **Fighting in the Comments**
Me, a Terran Main: **Grabs popcorn**
Superior intellect : Just nuke this
Well I don't even play and just enjoy watching Lowko, Literally the true impartial voice as I support the player in blue whomever they are...
Zerg Mains have dinos, Protoss alien tech , Terran big robot flying things
@@windriper946 no they have men with drugs and healing lazer beams
The reason Protoss won that engagement is he actually hide 2 high Templar and 2 archons under those carriers if serral didn’t move his courrptor ball into the fight he would have won I feel like he realize alittle to late that some high Templar and arch ones we’re alive and they made the difference in the fight so ya lowko was right that was the perfect engagement to move on but no spore support which was out of the question and a few hidden archons and temps make you feel cheated out of a victory

Lowko: Serral is no longer interested in making zerglings.
Serral: starts making more zerlgings
Me, clicking on this video: Sweet, this is gonna be a great Bo5 because it's over an hour long!
Me, after the first game: I guess it's a 3-0
Me, after finishing the video: What a great series

me, halfway through your comment: I wonder what his point is gonna be.

"Wow that was a great video"
Lowko-"I bet you forgot this was a best of five"
Me: 😮😮
44:30 I think that's part of the issue, and why Skytoss is so powerful. Pretty much all of their air units can shoot both down and up. Carriers, Tempests, and Void Rays can all shoot both air and land units. Storm hits air and land units. You're always able to hit them.
yeah was thinking about that when he started talking about the supply being split on ground and air.
yes, but no robo units can hit air at all.
@@hiramrichmond9111 Which is probably part of why skytoss is so popular.
That is a good point. Also, did Serrel let his corrupters attack the interceptors instead of the carriers? I assume attacking interceptors is a bad strat, not 100% sure.
@@templerea5262 i will say the problem was more what daniel said aobut skytoss being very flexible where has good air units for atacking both air and ground units. at the same time only needing very little ground units to put a treat to the zerg ground army. I dont beleive someone the skill of serral will make the worst mistake in a vs protoss attacking intrerceptors. In that final fight yes serrel did have split army but not by much and even then a mistake like that of letting the void rays being completed caught should have done much more damage, maybe if fungal from infestor is able to stop reccall would be a good change for it.
Thanks for putting in the extra work, Lowko! Despite all the energy that goes into them, your casts are oddly relaxing and I use them as my wind-down ritual... As a nervous person in general, I have a very hard time falling asleep, so I really appreciate these longer vidyas...
You know its gonna be EPIC when epic is in the thumbnail!
Very good points, 180 army vs 140 army, sometimes starcraft is just a numbers game. Plus, those were some sick storms.
Yeah and not even just supply on its own, but also basic things like the health per unit, even if the total army health is the same (for the same army supply that is). I think that is actually where the main weakness was of the zerg, they had like 2-3x as many units, so each unit had like half or even a quarter of the health vs the carrier. So then yeah even if the HT also have tiny health, the 2 in the prism I think is what clinched it for protoss, because that was only 4 supply (i think?) but enabled him to use 4 more storms on the already low health zerg.
It was interesting to watch second by second the army supply. From the start zerg was losing like 10 supply per second, while protoss was only 4-6 roughly, but then somewhere in the middle zerg just dropped from 80 to 50 supply in a second when all the corrupters ended up dying. During the same period, toss went from 118 to 112 lol.
sometimes it's crap balance game. zerg anti air was crippled severely, resulting games like the first one
I love to watch your SC videos, i'm Mexican and i practice my english listening u haha !
your English seems good atm, keep it up mate
Congrats and good luck (:
Same, dude, I'm Russian
Same from Germany😂
that's how I learned Englisch many years ago as well! Keep it up brother!
I wanna end this debate on balance once and for all.. the game has a option strategy or specific unit that can counter each other in every possible way you go down the entire unit or abilities list there is an answer for mass this mass that it all comes down to control and so many people are just to prideful to admit they do not have the ability to control the units like these fine gentlemen and ladies playing professional Starcraft 2 for our entertainment. Every situation is ALWAYS comes down to if you have what you need and if you can control it properly.
no all you need is enough queens if you are zerg...you will win by midgame just about everytime if you follow how serral abuses them.
Such beautiful starcraft! These guys are playing out of their minds!
Thank for a best of 5. I really enjoy these.
One of the best things about Lowko is how he's just "OH, this and this is happening. Damn, I love sc2". Thanks Lowko, Blizzard don't deserve you
So Lowko folds clothes for 6 hours a day? makes sense
It’s all I do every Sunday
That was a really good point about much of the zerg supply and army being setup to mine and destroy bases leading to a massive supply difference in that engagement on top of the strategic positioning/mitigation of the zerg spell casting. It definitely makes a lot more sense when you think about the full context of that fight. Thanks!
One thing I feel like Lowko hasnt mentioned though is: what else are you going to do?
Your main priority is still to have more mining than the protoss, so you need to have more drones than the protoss has Probes (if both players still have mining bases ofc)
You need The ultralisks to kill/zone the high templers
You need the Queens for creep/transfuses for when the Protoss attacks you
You need the Broodlords/Lurkers to be able to push forward without losing a lot of units
The only units serral could have done without were those 16 Zerglings
@@cat-astrophe8697 the thing to do is: not take that engagement. When someone doesn't have a composition made for a direct engagement and are at a huge supply disadvantage, we usually say that they made a mistake in taking a direct engagement like this and there wouldn't be any real issue. In this case it was just not as obvious that it was that situation.
@@WindsorMason So lets skip ahead a bit, The entire map is mined out, the units and everything is the same, both players have sacraficed all their Drones.
Zerg still needs the Queens, Ultras, and Siege Units. He would have had 19 supply more and I am not sure if 10 more corrupters would have won Serral that fight, considering there are diminishing returns on Corrupters, while there isnt for Protoss.
@@cat-astrophe8697 zerg usually wins those engagements with a nice parasitic bomb. Serral lost that fight cause he didn't think the void rays would come back that fast. Showtime made a quick and good decision to just recall them on a closer nexus. If not engagements then just wait til you do a nice abduct from the protoss.
@@cat-astrophe8697 neither of these armies can't just f2+a on the other army and win. Zerg has to do a good parasitic bomb or a nice abduct, Protoss has to get a nice snipe with the Oracle and Tempest, or use the full potential of storms and other abilities of High Templars. Serral really was just unlucky that Showtime had more army supply as well as he didn't expect the void rays to be back that quick.
Awesome 1st game and excellent analysis!! Thank you and Keeping on casting!
Thanks so much for uploading Lowko, you’ve been a light in a dark year for me. I don’t even play Starcraft but I watch your videos religiously
I dont know if its because of balance, but I think its weird that fungal growth stops a bc from teleporting but it doesnt affect recall
I think the deciding factor there is that fungal prevents tp abilities of the units it affects, whereas recall is an ability from the nexus.
Pretty sure it's because Battlecruisers don't teleport, they just move at an absurd speed, although mechanicwise it is treated as a teleport.
Superior protoss technology that's why lol
Lowko talks about watching/listening to Starcraft while doing something else.
I look up from doing dishes and smile
How are you not a professional and highly paid commentator for pro matchs you deserve it! I've been watching you for a couple years now and been playing since brood war. Keep up the good work from across the pond
I just binged watched your 10th anniversary episodes. It was really fun to watch 5-7 hours of starcraft! :D
When I started watching your videos, I mostly watched the short ones as I'm not good at dividing my attention so doing something else while watching with any amount of attention is hard but now, I get excited when I see long videos as I know it's going to be a nice one! That first match though was insane! I'm honestly surprised how well Serral bounced back after that defeat. He clearly didn't want to go back to late game though!
The analysis of the last big fight in game 1 was absolutely brilliant. Learned so much about zvp in a couple of minutes (:
absolutely loved this vid Lowko, great commentary! I really enjoyed your analysis of the strategy, I am working on getting plat as a zerg and this will definitely be helpful. Really appreciated!

Me: yes, love your videos, Lowko!
"I probably do what a lot of you are doing right now, like watching while eating lunch or whatever"

I never comment on vids - but I was folding laundry and stopped folding while watching. Your comment about it reminded me to keep folding 😂 Your casts are amazing and hilarious!!! I’ve learned a ton too, pretty new player. Mundane task? Time for some Lowko…
That was cool how you broke down the main fight ! 👍 I like that feature.
44:10 Good point about the effective army supply, I thought the Toss army looked bigger than Zerg's.
Skytoss has a higher potential DPS output in a straight up fight though. Voidrays, Carriers, and HT can all deal huge amounts of damage in a straight up engagement. In comparison, Corruptors are the only real "DPS" unit in that army. Now at first glace it might seem like Serral did get off a good FungalBomb combo, but its impact was negated by ShowTime's quick reaction time, and retreating to a chokepoint where Ultras derp around, and the void rays still join in at the perfect time. In comparison, if you look closely at ShowTime's micro, you can see the warp prism was selected, and those 2-3 HT basically landed 3-4 psionic storm pretty much perfectly on the entire army (all the corruptors).
The fight makes Skytoss looks OP, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. Having said that, even with an even effective army supply, I would imagine it's still a much harder for the Zerg due to the micro demands of that army.
"Open relationship with SC2 and will always come home" XD
You're such an awesome guy Lowko
You mention you only would have casted one game, I for one love it when you do these videos longer than 40 minutes. Your videos help me when I am going to bed, it may sound weird but the way you talk helps me fall asleep.
Thanks for that, good stuff.
The timing is always perfect
At 1:06:02 he activated prismatic alignment to focus down the spore crawler, not just for the thicccccc beam
After some years now you are still my favorite sc2 channel. And yeah most of the time im cooking or something but man i enjoy your vids
Love your stuff Lowko!
Thanks for the episode
Yesterday's video was way too awesome than I thought, thanks for it!!!!
In that big fight serral did indeed get a perfect fungal and quick parasitic followup, but after that serral actually made some big mistakes. The corruptors stayed back to attack the recalling void rays, and then serral actually moved them away , up and to the left, along with his overseers. That meant the ultras went forward with no air cover, and **no detection**, and got completely slaughtered. By the time the corruptors overseers and infestors arrive at the fight, the ultras are already dead. Most of them don't even get a single attack. Two live on for a while - but only because showtime deliberately retargets.
Meanwhile, many people seem to have missed the fact that showtime has a warp prism on the right hand side of his army carrying additional templar. It is this warp prism which now comes in and drops two templar right under the corruptors.
The corruptors are now engaging the carriers, but some of the carriers then get neuraled, so all of that corruptor damage has only resulted in half dead now-friendly units that no longer have interceptors to fight with. At the same time, the void rays return and activate prismatic alignment. There are a couple of seconds during which the corruptors are still attacking carriers, then clump even more to attack the mothership, which has already done its job and is now essentially useless since the overseers have finally arrived, and then a few more seconds as the corruptors move south to engage the voids. For all of this time, the voids are getting free damage on the corruptors, with the carriers having acted as a meat shield against both the corruptors and the fungal.
The templar which showtime dropped out of the prism have landed 2 storms on the clumped corruptors without dealing any friendly fire, because the corruptors are clumped up, off to the the left of the protoss army, moving south to the voids after having spent time pointlessly killing the mothership.
The fight is already over. Archons are still in play, the corruptors are all heavily damaged from storms, the voids - some of which had their shields recharged - are still alive and have prismatic alignment up.
TL;DR: Showtime won the fight because Serral split his overseers and corruptors away to the upper left while the ultras charged ahead and did nothing, and once the corruptors did arrive they spent most of their time not doing anything useful, instead attacking carriers which were subsequently neuraled, and then attacking the mothership.
Awesome games. Dude don't hesitate in showing full series, i'll gobble them all up for sure.
love how you call it stupid stuff :P perfectly describes it
and tyvm for casting the whole series ^^
Love your Serral casts, can't get enough!
You got it right, Lowko, I AM eating lunch hahaha
love those bo5 matches, ty for the cast
I heard "Brood Wars" when he said "Brute Force" through the wall off with your zerglings :D
your commentating is so nice ^^ like how objective you generally talk about it, very nice ^^
i do not believe protoss is op, it is more that the way they can win is more aggravating then T or Z, i think it is something like that which makes people complain so much about them
When was the last time a Protoss won premiere tournament? Its ridiculous to complain about a race is OP when the others are winning all the recent titles instead.
@@tigera6 Stats won the latest GSL vs Trap another Protoss
@@SupremeNisse which year and season was that?
Lowko comparing SC2 to other RTS: When you watch it it is so easy to understand!
Starcraft: 40:00
lmao
I play both Protoss and Zerg. Zerg was always my main, but I really like to play toss to switch it up. I am also not great at the game by any means. However I do find Protoss much easier to play. I think zerg has all the tools, just harder to get a good balance in your army. Protoss can build more units capable of winning without a really good balance, more simple builds. This is my experience anyway. It always feels like you can come back with other races, but when zerg has a bad fight, the game usual ends shortly after...
maybe at your level
“een ezel stoot zich geen tweemaal aan dezelfde steen”
i always think of the translation of this when I watch you now, lowko... still working on saying it in dutch
The void rays were also recalled nearby, and on top of shield batteries, which helped mitigate (possibly premature) parasitic bombs, then IMO, serral overextended and the void rays came back and prismatic alignment was not respected enough, perhaps if serral had not hit the “go” button immediately, and overcommitted, he possibly could have backed off, waited out prismatic alignment, then forced the engagement on a protoss army with low shields. Might have gone quite differently
Another important factor is serral was kind of behind from the beginning with the failed german taxi. He played out of his mind to close the gap but he never mined more and they were similar on resources lost. It's also why toss easily remaxed but zerg could only get back to like 120 supply after losing the big engagement.
The 1440p is so crisp, I love it!
simply insane
i dont even play sc.. i mean the odd game, i mainly played the sc1 demo as a kid over and over again, its very nostalgic for me, but im an FPS guy, but ive been watching so much of these, such a great skilful and tactical game, really enjoy your commentary
8:40 listening to Lowko while a sandwitch is in my mouth, im like wellp yeah thats pretty much it
It's like, how does he know?
It's just the nice friend you have over that tells nerdy stuff. And I'm here for it ❤️👌
I'm eating chicken katsu curry that I just made. I'm planning to fold laundry after too. HOW DOES HE KNOW
"Takes about seven and a half years to produce but it'll be out shortly" -Mr Lowko.
Suresure. XD
I love playing toss and I cheer for all of the toss players, but Serral is the one Zerg I will always cheer for. I was stunned by what he did in 2018 and became an instant fan. I love seeing his games and watching him win.
I was expecting new awesome video from u but no this awesome. ♥
Noice! Good choice! I like your series' casts better than a single game cast.
Love your content, I am new to this game but learned alot from your videos already. So for us mortals, could you explain how that zerg wall off works ?
The Adept shades can not go through structures. By completing the wall when the Adepts use their shading ability, they can't go into the Zerg's natural expansion. Since it also blocks Serral's units, he cancel it when the shade ability is on cooldown. It's pretty neat.
Yay! This will be a well spent hour.
in that big engagement in the last game I enjoyed the amount of times lowko stuffed up his speaking and things. like I can fully relate too it and do it all the time but it still makes me chuckle.
"Sometimes life gets in the way...ugh" lmao

Serral: "Sky Toss IMBA in late game? Well no more late game for you then..."
I was about to prepare to go to sleep but I guess that can wait another hour and 18 minutes
Im awful at starcraft but lowkos commentary and watching these pros never fails to entertain me ill be watching this while doing laundry or dishes
I turn on Starcraft while working out, and life is suddenly really good for like an hour
Me too
The recall cleansed the Parasitic Bomb from the voidrays once they recalled. If that wasn't the case, even if they were recalled and it still was on it, they would have died and serral would have won.
13 VOID RACES IN THE MIX AND GREAT SAVE WOOD BRANCHES
OMG. im so glad that you are so powerfull that you can cast the entire series #LOWKOCAN
17:13 These guys mined the same amount of stuff to the tee. They really are built different
Nice movie. I liked every minutes of it.
8:40 I'm feeling bacon, then burgers. First grilling of the year!!!!
I watched all the video cool battle this!! lowko xD
Loving the Lowko vibes....(you closet badass, you) 🍻
Every single corrupter eats basically 2 storms, every infester ate a storm, every ultralisk ate a storm. And most of them ate the entire storm. That's 80-160 HP just missing from most of the Zerg army. If anyone is surprised that zerg dies when every single unit eats at least 1 storm, they haven't been paying attention.
the move that could save serral in the 1st game battle was to abduct then neuro the mothership, focusing on detection to force the toss to kill his own mothership is always the solution
Get out of my head with your Deutch magic. How did you know that I am folding laundry?
I know, right? 🤣
dont confuse Deutsch and Dutch 😁
How did he knew I was having lunch??? @.@
regarding starcraft being around in 10 years - i think gaming might evolve a lot in the next 10 years, not even certain that an RTS at that point will be played with a mouse and keyboard.
Showtime is a legend. He was playing on the very first SC tournaments way, way, way back in 1998.
that prism high templar drops in the middle of the army was crazy
The beauty of this move is that he used his unit to pick up templars and drop them in safety to continue storming.
amazing
1:15:45 - Serral's APM exceeds 800. What is that like 30 actions per second
...it's reading over 9000!!
Lowko I’ve learned a lot from your vids
I’m feeling kinda skeptical about the value of Ultralisks in games at this level. They’re so expensive and I never see them do much that seems to justify it in games like this.
I kind of agree. In theory they're they to take out the High Templar and eat a lot of the Interceptor hits from the Carriers with their high armor, but that does not look like it's enough a lot of the time, especially if the storms still get cast.
Great games! I would love to see more ZvP.
Love the bit about abducts on Protoss players. If it happens as a Protoss you know you messed up somewhere.
I would love to see the battle from both players' camera view.
Love the content Lowko, I know I'm a year late for the comment but you are an excellent commentator
32:35 "Polygamerous" had me lol
-2 seconds for the timestamp
4:40 lost 2 drones for 2 adepts o.O that's pretty damn good :D
"Because I can"
What a flex
I think Zerg should have a little extra supply for late game, and it should be a tech upgrade for overlords.
Up at midnight puking my guts out watching this .
Zerg was overtuned for years before anything was actually done for them - seems a good balance at the moment.
Is not protoss are still weak
I think it was a great match! Everyone that think skytoss is overpower can look at the fact that Serral won, and it was fun to watch!
